All hail the Cabbage patch doll. Though I'm not completely convinced half of his performances haven't actually been Fabio.
Fabio getting injured on loan could be a cover for us switching the twins when Rafael picked up an injury. They will never know

He's been fantastic this season, he's fun to watch on top of being extremely effective. The sky is the limit for him, he can go on to among the world's best fullbacks with some luck.

He gives me hope that Fabio will go on to claim the left back spot as well!

I still remember Galston saying Walker's the better player. By a margin too

I would love it if Fabio makes it with us as well. Fabio's a bit like Phil Neville when compared to his brother. I think Fabio is the better footballer and more flexible.

I liked the way he slowed down a touch in order to deliver a better cross for the second goal. Just another small example of his increasing maturity as a player.

That was always what people said when they first joined, wasnt it.

Agree it would be good if they both made it here. I wonder whether it wouldnt make them both happier and more settled players, more likely to fulfill their potential, if they are together. Rafael seems totally happy as far as you can tell these things, but Id be more confident his long term future was with us if he still had his brother alongside him.

this, this and this.

great half from rafael so far, hes winning everything and driving forward well. Him and carrick have been our better players, just need to link up with the forwards better.

He's our best player at the moment. He offers more threat going forward than anyone else, that turn he did in the box was fecking class.

Now that Jones is back I'm sure we'll see Rafael being rotated again which is worrying.

Don't worry. Rafa has got more "experience" than Jones so he should be fine. If we had an older right back to come in then you'd need to be worried. They should both feel indebted to Red Nev for giving up the ghost when he did...

He seemed to be the only player who had a genuine urgency to attack whenever he got the ball, it's not even his ridiculous skill that helps him make so many runs but also the sheer determination. I wish his attitude would rub off on basically everyone else, no-one seems to have that desire to do something with the ball like he does.

When he got booked at the end I felt like he was a fan that had invaded the pitch such was the level of frustration he showed

He has shown some good leadership qualities this season, his determination alone stands him out from the rest of the team and we've seen it in quite a few games.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a future captain.

Best player on the park - not for the first time this season.

If Fergie rotates him out for Phil Jones I think the fans might just turn...

Did the winger job better than Toni today.

If Valencia was in form then we'd have a great combination between the two down on the right hand side. Knowing our luck though, when Valencia hits his stride, Rafael will be hit by injury. Sort of thing that would happen with us.

What a fecking player he has become, I can't remember when he had average game.

Our best player this season without a doubt.

Easily the best RB in the league atm. Our most consistent player.

He's like Evra 2006-2009.

Should he have been told to "accidentally" pick up a second yellow in the 89th minute? I forget when or if cards get wiped.

He must be knackered after having to have played as a full-back in our diamond tonight.

Wasn't at his best tonight. Nothing to be worried about. Was weird seeing him getting skinned so easily.

Wasn't getting skinned, it was more of a case of getting caught too high up the pitch in going forward. Still needs to iron that out but in general the diamond needs work in terms of defensive rotations.

He had next to no defensive help either on the right. With Valencia, even though he's going through a rough patch, he still always does his bit to help Rafa out defensively.

It certainly does. I don't think we're helping ourselves by having 2 CM's play the diamond so wide. I wonder why Fergie seemingly instructed them to do that. As if he's still trying to keep an element of our width even though we aren't playing our usual 4-4-2.

Looked a bit tired for the last 20-30 mins. I would have prefered if we had moved Fletcher to the RB position and taken Rafael off. We need him fresh as we have important games coming up thick and fast.

A bit tired, but also scared that he might get a second yellow. After all, the ref was Mr. Consistency out there :wenger:

I thought he should be rested; no point in bringing back Jones if Rafael gets injured because of fatigue! He's played a lot recently, and I want him to remain first choice RB.

He's our first choice rb but the trouble is our injury situation in CB's is so fragile that we couldn't risk Smalling or Rio in this match. That's why Rafael has to play at RB. Seeing the quality of Gala's left winger, I think Vermijl would've been torn apart by him.

I think Fergie obviously thought that Vermijl would get ripped apart and his confidence will be very low after that. Same reason why he started with Carrick instead of Wooton.

I think that in next few games he could be rotated with Smalling and Jones so him being tired shouldn't be an issue.
