If Maicon gets picked ahead of him at the World Cup, I don't know what I'll do. He really deserves to be there and we would have a real chance of having a World Cup winner at our club.

Best right back in the League. Confirmed again today. fecking fantastic.

Coleman would probably have something to say there. Rafa is for me too though.

Zabaleta > Rafael > Coleman

I rate Zabaleta highly and I'm not just saying it out of blind bias but Rafael is at least on a par with him in my view. Certainly has the potential to go beyond anyone in my opinion and, without trying to be dramatic, he's destined to be the best right back in the world.

Coleman also, has been fantastic recently but he needs to do it for a couple of seasons to be considered alongside Rafa and Zabaleta. To think Liverpool fans would say Johnson is up there

It's laughable to me that some people on here started to think that Moyes doesn't rate Rafael when he was coming back from injury and was on the bench.

Great game from Rafael, him and Valencia tore things apart down their wing. You can tell that Valencia is so much more comfortable with Rafael overlapping or cutting in around him. It just gives him so much more space to exploit and run into himself as the full back has to worry about Rafael at the same time.

I hope no one believed these rumours.

What's clear is that Rafael changes the dynamics of the right wing. We don't rely on Evra as much when he does play and it gives us another side to use. Smalling, as good a defender he is, is nowhere near Rafael offensively, which isn't his fault. Rafael and Valencia have dominated big teams together... The game at Stamford Bridge in 11/12 convinced me that Rafael was going to become a crucial component in our team.

Rafael Da Silva seriously considered defecting from Brazil to play for England before the controversial “nationality” debate exploded around Adnan Januzaj, his Manchester United team-mate.

Rafael, who could be eligible to represent England under a five-year residency rule, told his United team-mates in September that he was mulling over the idea of declaring his allegiance for his adopted country.

The plus side is that it would (or it should) mean no more Kyle Walker ever ever again.

I still hope he stays away from the England team though, and the media storm that follows it.

England are lacking the options at RB that they do at LB presently. Rafael would be great for them.

Good decision. Can you imagine the uproar from the wankers in the media if Rafa replaced one of Walker or Johnson? Cliché after cliché would get rolled out about his defending in no time at all.

"How dare Rafael replace Kyle Walker, don't you know he can't defend!"

Stay away, Rafa.

Yeh Rafael, don't bother playing for England. All he would get would be abuse. I'm sure eventually the Brazilian team will have to pick him.

To be fair to Johnson, he's been better than Walker!

Pathetic that he never gets a look in with the Brazil team.

Pathetic yes, especially for him - I am of two minds though. Playing for Brazil means hell of a travel schedule and possible fatigue/injury. On the flip side, playing for a very good Brazil team can only make him better for us.

I truly do wonder what it is that keeps him from being selected - red tinted glasses aside - this is a guy that has coped with Bale and Ronaldo not to mention a myriad of other top left sided players.

Another very good half from him. He's integral in getting Valencia back to form.

His final ball wasn't the best today but other than that he was everywhere. I love how he gives 100% for everything, him Jones and Rooney and similar like that.

He is ridiculous, I have no words to describe him.

Interviewed in the latest UWS.

Asked about his future at United, just said "I'm very happy here". Made me all warm and fuzzy.

He's been incredible since he got back from injury and Valencia has really benefitted from having him there as well.

It's amazing that fans of other teams still don't rate him. He's easily one of the best in his position in the league, and probably top 2. Probably my favourite United player now that Scholes has retired.

He's as integral to our team as Carrick is. Mind you maybe he wouldn't be if Moyes decided to use the like for like replacement.

His threat on the right allows Valencia to get involved in the midfield battle and help out Cleverley a lot more.

We are worse all over the pitch when Rafael doesn't play it seems.

He's the type of player we should be building our team around along with Jones and Welbeck. Athletic, technical and powerful players that can play quick football at a high tempo.

Glad people are realizing just how vital he is to our team. He completely changes the way we play compared to having Smalling or Jones at RB.

I read a United fan on Twitter after the game saying that Rafael has been "crap" this season, and we need a new RB in January, suggesting Dani Alves. I got one of those instantaneous cluster headaches. I had to close my laptop. If it was someone saying that in a pub, I think I might have spilled my own drink with my flabbergasted flailing arms.

So many people thought I had rocks in my head when i got Rafael on my shirt last season, I always said when he arrived if he wore the number 2 shirt, I would get him on my back. Glad I did.
