Racist Maccabi Tel Aviv thugs instigate violence and criminal damage on trip to Amsterdam

The whole thing started at least 24 hours before it escalated. I know that because I saw reports and videos online earlier than when people started paying attention. From what I saw, nothing was reported till after the retaliation in the mainstream media. Same as we saw with the complete lack of reporting when a man carrying a Palestinian flag in Greece got targeted by the same set of fans. You can google "A man gets beaten by Mccabi fans in Greece" you'll find no mention of it in the mainstream media.

It’s covered by the Greek mainstream media. Why do you think one person gettting “minor injuries” in a tussle with football hooligans should be reported by media worldwide?

The state of this thread. The inability of people to condemn both sides when both sides are wrong is beyond comprehension. Any Maccabi fan chanting what was chanted is being provocative and completely unreasobable as a tourist. But also doesnt represent Israelis abroad as a whole. Any of the people quite literally filmed running over jews, beating them into submission and forcing them to chant 'free palestine' is a criminal that should be jailed without leniency. Conflating your feelings about the war with separate individual episodes of horrible violence is a disturbing glimpse at how awful things can be allowed to happen by turning a blind eye.

Which does not surprise me in the least.

The sad thing is that I knew most of the mainstream media in the west were under control of special interest groups or have their own political agendas, but there were some that tried their best to be as impartial as possible, the best 2 media outlets I thought were neutral were Reuters and AP, Guardian are very left leaning but also do their best to be as factual and balanced as possible, and since the genocide, they all went one way, they were given their marching orders, since then I totally consider them non-factual and biased, not that I didn't in the past but now none of them is trustworthy whatsoever anymore in my eyes.

This is spot-on.

This is something that goes beyond racism. It's an ultra territory thing. Since most ultras are far right supporters, racist chants and slur will always be present.

When you're an ultra group and you're causing chaos in another ultra group territory, you know you are stirring the pot, and the regular fans are caught in the middle of this clusterf*ck due to their irresponsability, unfortunately.

Also local authorities were clearly poorly prepared. Maccabi and Beitar have extremely violent ultra groups (Ajax also btw), and I can't see any tactical police in most videos. The spottters did a poor job.

Disgusting ultras or zionists or whatever the feck they are. They should've been beaten even harder. Biden that fecking zombie can focus on more important things as well.

Completely agree.

Felt some joy watching the locals of Amsterdam kicking lumps out of these racist, genocide supporting twats

Over the last 2-3 years, Israel and its extremist following have been given licence to act without regard for human life or concern of retaliation.

The other night they fecked about and found out, long may this justice continue.

PS. UEFA are cnuts. Ban them from Europe already ffs
I agree wholeheartedly

It’s ok they can do whatever they want and if anyone says anything we’re all anti-Semitic and something about supporting the holocaust. Baitar was openly racist and nobody said nothing about it.

Reverse the situation and ask whether it would get reported and how it would be framed.

The same, right? Won’t make headlines all over the world but probably will make local news and will definitely be used on social media as ammunition in the culture wars.

At the end of the day there are isolated racist/islamophobic/antisemitic incidents happening every day, everywhere. It’s only the really big ones - like this one - that get reported worldwide.

Yep, I had the misfortune of knowing a few peers who were members of a youth group called Beitar, founded by....Jabotinsky.
Horrible people.

Welp.... boohoo for the racists and genocidal maniacs. As someone here mentioned already, how the Isreali teams aren't yet banned from football is incredible, considering how quickly they banned Russian teams.

Maccabi will be visiting Istanbul at the end of this month, hopefully nothing happens then.
I can't see that game happening

The thing is Israeli supporters do the same thing in UK, during protests chant about kids, make gun salutes, taunts about Gaza and so on. The protests in the UK for anti genicide crowds are attended by mainly families who never retaliate.

Trying their mockery of dead Palestinians in Europe was a totay different thing and no surprise they got battered.

If they try this in Turkey I can see fatalities

Yesterday The beeb gave this more coverage (online) then it has in the last few months about anything happening in gaza or the westbank (where actual pogroms are taking place). It was several hours before any mention of the Israeli fans doing anything untoward.

This is mental. And the fact so many right-wing mentalists are genuinely claiming to be in contact with Netanyahu offering their support etc makes it 10x more mental.

Before it got into the MSM there was enough floating around social media to know why everything escalated.

So this is how it works now? The Israelis can do anything from singing chants to vandalise things anywhere in the world and if someone try to stop them or blame them they’ll be declared as antisemitic? This is the established order then?

Just needs Trump to come in again with his "some very fine people on both sides" spiel.

Feels to me one of those situations where away following should've been restricted for this game to just avoid potential flashpoints.

Wouldn’t that mean basically all their away games then? Not sure Amsterdam was any more high risk for this kind of stuff than any other major European city.

Grown men who instigated an attack are crying and they get more sympathy from news outlets over innocent children who are getting blown to bits every day. The hypocrisy and victim mentality is strong. It's always the bullies who always want sympathy. They should have been ejected from the stadium the second they interrupted the one minute silence. They have no respect for anyone.

Yup. You can only walk up to them and politely ask them to stop and maybe then let them hit you, racially abuse you and bully you for a while and then you should probably take off before you lose your temper and do something rash and risk being branded antisemitic

It’s totally fair!

I think this sums things up nicely.

Too few of you can discuss this rationally it would seem. So we will move this to the CE forum and close the discussion for a few hours for people to calm down and get a grip.
