Race for top 4 | Finito.

What a season for Liverpool. The 7up trophy, runners up in the Thai version of the Makita cup and other fans thinking about them.

They’re miles off the pace. You people act as if 7/10 points leads are nothing at all. Sure a team could collapse but it’s unlikely. Even their fans would find it a long long long shot.
Premier league is brutal. Every game is tough. Newcastle had 5 (i think) draws in a row after World cup. Liverpool had 4 games without win in a row. On the other hand one solid team like Villa had 8 wins in 10 games.

Everything is possible. You can always go in winning streak or losing streak. Chances are very very slim that we or Newcastle will lose top 4 but i will be more relaxed if we win 4 points in next two games. Or if Fulham or Brentford draw vs Pool.
We are 90% there. But we need to finish it.

Liverpool have 0.01% chance of finishing 4th. But I'm glad we're still in everyone's thoughts after our worst season in many years. :)

Using what I've learnt to be a true Redcafe poster in the past few months: I'm rooting for the blood stained, oil derived Saudis to finish 3rd. Come on you Zebras!
Anything can happen in football. City chased us down to win the title when everyone thought we was nailed on to win it under fergie. But ye id be happy if yous finished in a Europa league spot though, will make it harder to challenge for the league. I’d be more worried if you finished outside of Europe going into next season as you’d only have 1 real competition to focus on. Don’t worry though, you’ve won the 7up trophy at least this season. :)

Yeah he's a total clown.

I tried to put him on ignore too but came up against the same problem, don't know how to put someone on ignore if they hide their profile.
In my opinion you shouldn't be allowed to hide your profile like that, it's a sure sign of a total wum.

Big difference is we still had to play City. If we still had to go to Anfield everyone on here would be shitting themselves.

Top 4 is finished. Spurs and Villa are out. Only possible contenders are Brighton and Liverpool and they're miles behind. Even if Brighton beat us, they're not catching us, they've lost to Forest and Spurs plus us in the Cup recently. So over-rated.

So for those who see two old ladies coming towards them on the same side of the road, sh!t themselves and cross the road in case they are attacked, they can relax.

If anyone needs to learn the trick to add him to ignore DM me. I figured the work around, @Djemba-Djemba can vouch for that.
Nah I don't bother putting people on ignore, I'd miss out on to many laughs on a daily basis if I didn't read some of the brain dead takes and obvious wum posts by some posters if I put them all on ignore

I'm so glad you made this post! I've encountered this issue many times when I've tried to put someone on ignore but not been able to. Now I know the reason why. Thanks :)

Wouldn’t say they’re over rated. No matter what happens they’ve overachieved  they battered us in the cup and on another day could have easily beaten us. They battered spurs and was unlucky not to beat them. They’re a decent team who can’t be underestimated. They probably play the 2nd best football in the league behind city. If you think it’s gonna be a walk in the park on Thursday then your miles of it.

What game did you watch it certainly can't be the one between United and Brighton .

If i'm reading it correctly he's talking about shifting recruitment responsibilites from him to DoF, not sacking him. Which is exactly how he worked at Ajax.
I read it right and I don't trust who is currently there to be the people the pick players for ETH this early in his tenure. Let him build his squad up with guys he wants for a few windows and bed in the recruitment and scouts as to what kind of players he wants them looking for.

If we beat Brighton wouldn't that be a six point swing, three points off what we need and three points off what they can get?
Exactly. Win that and all we need is to get 6 more points from 5 matches. Don't have to worry about any mathematical possibilities.

They've overachieved and they've got a good manager and some good players. Our Cup game was fairly even and they didn't batter us at all. Yes they're the only team to beat us at home but that was the first game of the season and we were miles off where we are now. I think it will be a draw on Thursday but even if they beat us they're not catching us. If they were only a few points behind and we lost all our remaining matches they might have had a chance.

at no point has Brighton "battered us" this season

Ye id take a draw right now. However if we’re at our best we can beat them. I think they had the better chances in the cup and if they’d of took them we’d of lost. We had some chances aswell but there much more a possession based team then we are. They control the game better then we do so the first goal will be important for us.

The first game in the league was a game of 2 halves, they batted us in the first halve which they was already 2-0 up and then we came out in the 2nd halve which is what we always do after going 2 down.

It's the way the teams play. But apart from the game against us they have to play City, plus Arsenal, Newcastle and Villa away. Their end of season total is going to be mid-sixties at best and we're already almost there.

I don't get why people are shitting bricks over Brighton. I actually look at the table and fixtures and get weed off they won't manage to knock Liverpool down to 6th. I'd even have them get three against us if needs be.

We're fine, only urgency in wrapping it up is resting for the FA Cup.

Sure, but they didnt batter us in the cup final.

Case in point:

Brighton has the most difficult run-in of any of the top teams - they play five top sides in their remaining seven.
We (together with City) have the easiest run-in of any team - we play one top side in our remaining six (which for both is Brighton away). We're not even facing anyone battling desperately for survival - it's West Ham, Wolves, Bournemouth, Fulham and Chelsea, all of whom are already fairly safe, or will be by the time we encounter them. Well maybe except West Ham, but they're right on the brink of safety at least.

Quicker we get top 4 sealed then we can focus on resting for the final where as city are gonna need to go full strength for all there games plus if they get to the CL final.

0.01% is generous. You’re club is done this season. Was cute seeing the wild celebrations for securing 5th though.

2 more wins and it’s done.

Well we would have 69 points and Liverpool could possibly get 72. So three wins for now.
I’m saying 2 wins because despite having easy fixtures Liverpool have shown in the last couple of games they have dropped points in them. Their defence is still a shambles.

Brighton have mathematically chances but they aren’t winning all those games they have.

Sure, just wanted to clearify. Liverpool have quite an easy run in thou.

Liverpool is the only potential threat IMO, but I just don't see them going on a run of nine wins in a row this season. Even if they are 'back' or have turned a corner, I will be amazed if they went on that kind of run. They will drop points in one game for my money, so finish on 68-69. We are already on 63 and have a game in hand on them. Newcastle is already on 65 having played the same amount of games. I really think we and Newcastle can get top four with only two more victories, as long as we don't lose all of the other games. We'll just need a draw or two.

Liverpool are winning games, but not necessarily putting in consistent performances which is the story of their season. They are far too inconsistent in terms of overall results and spells during games. Their great form of four wins in a row includes:

Liverpool 3-2 Nottingham Forest
West Ham 1-2 Liverpool
Liverpool 4-3 Tottenham

Of course, before that, they battered Leeds 6-1 but almost everyone is doing that at the moment. Since they spanked us, their record in all competitions is W4 | D2 | L3 which isn't even a 50% win rate with only one clean sheet. They are conceding goals for fun and getting away with it, but I don't see that being something they can do until the end of the season. They are getting over the line with narrow wins in open games, they're still inconsistent all over the pitch. I just don't see it, but even if they win the rest of their games I would expect them to fall short. I do think they'll finish 5th as Brighton will drop more points than them IMO. Spurs and Villa can't amass enough even with four wins a piece, not that either of them will win all four either.

For what it's worth, I think the only team that might have a shot at winning all of their remaining fixtures is Man City - and I think they'll at least draw one as well!

2 wins and 1 draw. Scouser draw one game and most they can get is 69.

I think we will win 3, draw twice and lose 1, or sth like that.
Ye I think we’ll win at least 3 of the remaining games. Out of interest which game do you think we’re most likely to lose?

Away to West Spam. They aren’t quite safe yet and have been pretty good lately at home. I think we will take something out of Brighton, don’t think this team have lost both legs against any team this season yet.

Good shout. That will be a tough game. If we was to lose 1 I’d say it’s most likely gonna be the Brighton game. Think they’ll go for it straight from kick of and being at home they’ll have the fans behind them.
