Race for top 4 | Finito.

Would be funny if after all the knee jerk reactions on here, it's Newcastle who drop off from the Top 4 and it's us and Pool who play in the CL next season.
That’s the most possible for me. Think we’ll win our 2 home games. Think Brighton may get a draw against Newcastle.

Stuck the bet on 7 games ago that they’d finish top 4 knowing they’d win all their games. 200 quid coming my way. Will it be us or Newcastle that bottle it? I still think Newcastle. The Brighton game is huge.
Yeah I’ve got 800 potentially coming my way. After they smashed Leeds 6-1 I looked at their fixtures and it was obvious they’d win them all.

Have a really bad feeling about our run in. Feels like our only chance to get top 4 is if Newcastle bottles it.

Liverpool will win their remaining games.

Give your head a wobble. We couldn’t ask for three easier games to close out the season. If we can’t pick up two wins agains Bounemouth, Chelsea and Fulham then I’m not sure I want to see us against Europe’s elite next season!

At this point I think it's more likely that Liverpool finish 3rd than it is that they finish 5th. They are the team among the three contenders that are the least likely to slip up.

Thursday is going to be very interesting. If Brighton win I'll feel much better about things. If Newcastle win the pressure on us is going to be immense on Saturday.

Us and Newcastle should be aware that the scouse are winning their remaining two games. I do feel we now have to go to Bournemouth and win on Saturday as Chelsea at home strangely worries me. How the feck has it come to this….

Agreed. I do fear Brighton will have Left everything on the pitch at the emirates though. If they can produce another performance like that and beat Newcastle, it doesn’t half ease the nerves.

We have a chance to get in top4. However, to be honest, I still think United and Newcastle will remain their top4 status. Maybe Newcastle will face some tough jobs in their remaining games.

Suddenly starting to look very worrying now isn't it? I'm confident we can beat Bournemouth but then it's more Thursday fecker

What’s changed? Liverpool were always going to batter a Leicester side run by Dean Smith.

The task is clear now.
No excuses for Saturday, must win game.
Proper cup final game. If we can’t get up for this and get a win then I think it’ll be over.
The only shame is it’s not on the telly.

I hope we win all three games and finish the season strong, I think having less games is going to help us out a lot, I also hope Liverpool will be the ones missing out.

Don't worry you bunch of f**king bedwetters, Liverpool are not going to win [insert number here] games in a row.
 It's like they never looked at the fixture list, and the fact Liverpool are the spawniest team known to man.

How? Their last two is against this Leicester side and that Chelsea side. They can afford to lose v Brighton. Even GD is in their favour
Newcastle definitely don't want to be going into the last game against Chelsea away needing a win though. As long as they don't lose to Brighton they should be fine as they'll beat Leicester at home, and they'll only need a draw on the last day against Chelsea.

I'm starting to look at goal difference though and think it's not unfathomable that Liverpool could equal Newcastle goal difference and fluke top 4 on goals scored. It would require them to thrash one of Villa or Southampton though or maybe both, they certainly could put a few past Southampton on the final day. By the same token though Newcastle could put a few past Leicester to give themselves some breathing room, so you never know. I don't think it's absolutely certain that 5 points gets Newcastle top 4 any more, if there's one team that could fluke it on goal difference on the last day it would be Liverpool.

With United, you just don't know. We're so so so bad away from home it's hard to trust us against Bournemouth, but we do have a few things in our favour this time with a week's rest and Bournemouth having nothing to play for. If we did drop points to Bournemouth, we'd need to win our final 2 games, which is feasible on paper, but we have a bunch of very very fragile weak players who are completely capable of bottling it. If we do need to win our final 2 games, we play Thursday-Sunday which isn't must rest between games.

Given how our players have performed away all season, ALL season, hoping they can go out and perform against a team that are already on the beach should give us plenty of cause for concern for the Bournemouth game.

Short and simple: If Liverpool close the season on a 9 game win streak and if we are incapable of getting 2 wins out against Chelsea, Fulham, Bournemouth, well then it’s obvious who belongs into the Europa League.

I think the league will start awarding Liverpool with 4 or even 5 points per win soon. It is indeed almost impossible that they do not finish in top 4.

The people that have betted against united are weird. So you will be actually rooting against us because lets face it winning 700 euro or so is really good money?
I would never do that.

Given the disparity between some of the fretting in here and the actual odds of us missing out on top four, I'm surprised more of them aren't betting against us.

What wrong in that ? If I had an opportunity I would do it. Some people take the sports way too seriously or lightly. It's all down to individuals, isn't it

People are panicking because Liverpool won tonight ?
It’s the Villa game where they were going to drop points they were always winning tonight.
We just need to beat Bournemouth. Wouldn’t be surprised if Newcastle ended up missing out

That’s what I’m desperately clinging to, more than us doing the job ourselves. Brighton beat them and they may start to shit themselves a bit. Although I’m expecting them to get a draw in that game and I don’t see them losing any of their remaining games.

I think there is a sting in the tail yet and the way we have been for years I expect it will be our fans ending up being absolutely gutted.

Follow that with an FA Cup pasting and a City treble and that’s quite possibly the worst end to a season since 2012.

Glass half full me, haha!

Drown yourself out in tears now why don’t you and The Glazers refuse to sell as well and keep the club , looks like someone is the eternal optimistic!

I’m ready to, don’t worry, and I purposely left that bit out as I thought it would be a tad too much doom and gloom even for me!

Isn't this quite similar to the 20/21 season when they had a really strong run in the end and made TOP4?

Can't see Liverpool dropping anymore points.

We gotta scrape two wins from 3.

Will be very very embarrassing if we don't make top 4. Will ruin what was a promising season

I’m not someone who sees the future but I did have a bet on Liverpool to make top 4 at 8/1 about 6 weeks ago and even if we choke, we will come back, hopefully we will have new owners soon, don’t care who wins as long as Glazers leave and I’ll be honest I’d happily come 5th right now if every one of the Six parasites leave the club.

Bouremouth won’t be easy but if we go for it from the first minute we should win, I’m actually more worried about Fulham than Chelsea who will want revenge for the FA Cup plus they score more goals than us just like Brentford and Brighton do.

We need goals and we are probably 20 short this season with only 51 scored, that’s awful and not good enough for top 4, the club under ETH in PL has not scored 4 goals in any game, I love my club but in all honesty we don’t deserve top 4 and if we can’t get 6 points from our last 3 games with all three teams on the beach then we seriously don’t deserve to play CL next year and Questions need to be asked about DOF, MD and even the manager ?

Let’s not mess around here, we have the first or second highest wage bill and we spent over £200m in the summer, minimum requirement is CL qualification, even Ac Milan have now shown consistency qualifying and made SF this year after wining their domestic title.

People go on about Newcastles wealth but they can’t spend that money until they build their financial revenue, their wage bill is half of ours and yet still we could finish below them, not acceptable so ETH has to get 6 points and we can all have a good summer?

This is why I'm completely not bothered by it all.

I think Bruno mentioned the target of 72 points in the post-match interviews after the Wolves game, so the players know what they need to do obviously - they won't be deluding themselves that Liverpool will drop points during their piss-easy run-in, so hopefully our players are focused.

Could go the other way as well of course if a game starts going against us and leads to panic setting-in.

Villa are beating Liverpool on Saturday.
Would take a draw however Liverpool got their grove on right now, they will win last two games 3-1 and 1-4, I hope Newcastle get 5 points but beat Leicester by 4-0 in and we get 7 points from last 3 games
So United finish 3rd - 73 points, Newcastle 4th 71 points GD + 36, Liverpool 5th 71 point GD + 34

I'd rather have our schedule over the last 3 matches than Newcastle's. They'll be feeling the heat from Liverpool just as much. If we beat Bournemouth then we're practically done.

It is very funny that Chelsea have City, United, and Newcastle to end their doomed season

Chelsea will decide the top 4. Love it.
I don't want to jynx it saying you probably won't. I do wonder though what incentive your players have to get Liverpool in the CL. Thinking about next season I would be more concerned about the team on an unbeaten run than the ones stumbling over the finishing line.

What's your take as a fan?
