QF | Spain vs Germany | Portugal vs France

I don't think so. Individually, the team was outstanding. Kroos and Gündogan are all time great German CMs, Wirtz and Musiala the biggest talents I've seen in the Bundesliga and the defense was superb with Rüdiger and Tah as well. And it was all complemented by very good players in almost every position. Thing is that few replicated their club
How is Gundogan an all time great? Aren’t most of his good performances for City. I don’t think of him as an icon of German football - more a player who was a fine young talent, didn’t make the most of it and then had a great late resurgence at City. Unless I’ve missed him having some famous international displays? Was he that impressive for Barcelona this year?

Kroos isn’t that good either these days. Spent last night trying to do his best Phil Neville impression. Musiala and Wirtz are good young players but will take time to mature. From where German NT was a couple of years ago, I thought they looked very good in this tournament. They were unlucky to face the competitions most impressive team so early and just about lost.

Stonewall pen on the handball but there is consensus that there was an offside offense so that’s that. But on the handball itself you can easily see the arm was out and there was movement to the ball.

In the distant past that’s not a handball based on the proximity defense but were seen that same exact offense given as a handball many, many times over the last decade.

What's the opinion on the potential handball pen in the Germany-Spain game on here?

In my opinion it should've been a pen, since Cucurella's arm actively goes towards the ball (would've gone through if he kept his arm high up) and blocks a shot, that would've been very dangerous, most likely even a goal by studying the traction in the slow motion review.

If the Danish one was HB then so was this. The rule is an utter mess and not used for what it was intended to prevent.

I think you severely underestimate those four. Kroos has been one of if not the best CMs in the world last season and still was at Rodri level. And City really, really missed Gündogan who had a very good season at Barca. Both are still highly rated amongst La Liga fans if I'm not mistaken. Wirtz was the clearly best player in a team that was as successful as Guardiola's and Heynckes' Bayern teams which featured players such as Robben, Ribery, Müller, Schweinsteiger, Lahm and Thiago in their primes. And Musiala on his day is every bit as good if not better. Both are by the way included in the top 10 of goal.com's Ballon d'Or power ranking and at some point in time, some betting sites had Wirtz in the top 5. Germany never had attacking players of that quality in my lifetime. The closest was Götze and to a smaller extent Özil and Müller but even they weren't as complete. And the rest of the team is also very good. You have Rüdiger who has been one of the world's best CBs for years now, just recently winning his second UCL. The second CB is Tah who was the pillarstone in a team that went undefeated in the league and lost only one game all season. Kimmich who not too long ago was considered one of the best CMs in the world. Havertz who is currently the starting striker at the second best team of the EPL.

I believe this is one of those cases in which a team will be seen as much better in retrospective.

Is there? I don't think there was a proper check, at least no analysis result was ever displayed.
That's my main gripe, the ref's outright refusal to give it a real look and VAR sleeping on the whole thing as well. At least do the work you were brought in to do.

Not sure if it's been discussed already, but apparently Morata will not be suspended for the semis. UEFA graphics incorrectly indicated that he would've been booked in the aftermath of the winning goal.

Hmm, okay.
