QF | Spain vs Germany | Portugal vs France

Genuinely appreciated Mbappé getting subbed off. From both himself and Deschamps.

He was isolated upfront all match.

look at how shit other strikers are in this tournament… havertz, morata, fullkrug, lukaku. No one has this much shit thrown at them.

None of these are top strikers or undroppables. And no one has been as bad. And even Lukaku who has been laughed a lot, was actually unlucky not to have 2 goals.

Ronaldo was not isolated though. The team tried to play him. He was just really slow to contribute, and when he contributed, the ball went outside the stadium.

I’d argue they’ve been worse. Shocking tournament for strikers all round

He was not.

Every attacking phase of Portugal was made with him in mind.

He's just past his sell date and dragged his team down.

Can France go all the way without a French player actually scoring a goal from open play?

I think Portugal was the better team so I'm happy with the result. Vitinha is a great player.
The pace seemed very slow, I don't know if it was out of mutual respect or something deliberate to measure energy.

Nah.
Their contribution is miles ahead of what Ronaldo has offered.
The only striker who has been equally bad, is the Slovenian striker, I think called Sporar.

If you think Spain France will be anything other than a tight game, I can't believe you've watched both games today.

Not to mention the missing players for Spain.

I regret staying up until 5am for that, feck me. A 0-0 battle of attrition I would have been able to appreciate but that was completely something else.

Long season and very tired players.

Ronalod.

Martinez insisting on making him the spear of their attack and centering the play around him was the cause of Portugal's demise. I refuse to believe that such a stacked team would've done worse without him.
Aye, such a talented squad and generation of footballers, so it's sad to see Ronaldo holding you back - plus that gutless manager. Assuming there's behind the scenes politics and stuff as to why Ronaldo seemingly can't get dropped (or at this rate, even subbed?).
Im absolutely baffled at why this Portugal team is rated so highly. It’s not even close to being the best group of players they’ve had.
There is absolutely nothing stacked or generational about this Portugal team. Nuno Mendes and Vitinha are potentially brilliant but the rest are nothing special. Even Bernardo Silva for all his qualities is a typical city player.
Their attack is meh, Leao inconsistent, Felix meh and Ronaldo a grandad and is basically still starting because of how rubbish their options are in those positions.
Look at the subs they brought on today, absolutely nothing special about any of them.
At the start of this tournament I knew Portugal would be knocked out at the quarter final stage and that’s what happened and should be no surprise to anyone. That is their level. Swap Ronaldo for any of their other strikers and they’d still have been getting knocked out today. The same way Morocco knocked them out at the World Cup when Ronaldo wasn’t playing.

He was isolated, not sure how it could be seen any different.

I don’t think he should of been starting either, certainly hurt the team in my opinion.

Odd opinion. They're ranked top 4/5 in Europe and top 10 in 6/7 in the world rankings? They have the talent - as much as most other international teams IMO.

All of them scored (offside) goals though and especially Morata and Havertz offer something else with good runs and some good passes.

Not even the biggest Ronaldo fanboys should defend his "performance" today or in the whole tournament.

Its no shame at 39 but he is finished at this level.

Ronaldo needs to just let it go. Focus on playing for Al Nassr and then retire with his billions. This is a sad way to go out. He's forcing it right now. Martinez is also to blame for not having the cojones to drop him, you've now lost your job trying to pacify the big baby.

Really? World ranking? Seen Belgium’s world ranking ?
And they don’t, Portugal are very good at building up their players I’ll give them that. How good were Felix and Ramos meant to be again?
Their team is not as good as France, England, Spain, Germany, Brazil, I’d put them alongside the Dutch who have an equally meh front line. And nobody raves about Holland ….

We can agree to disagree. They were one of the favorites heading into the tournament, and rightfully so.

I agree that Portugal were better but I think they would've been an easier team to play for you. They try to play football, and I think you'd have exploited how open they are at times. France want you to have the ball all day everyday, will frustrate the life out of you and snatch something on the break.

England is also always the favourite , so this goes the same as the world ranking. It's a measure of who is the better flat track bully.

Yeah i don't disagree there. Truth be told, there's not an awful lot between the top nations at international level, hence why i thought any one of Fra, Spa, Eng, Por & Germany (well I added Germany as I thought being hosts and having Nagelsman might be good for them) were favorites heading into it. Just a "pity" that most of them were drawn against one another at the QF stage.

Will be interesting to see what happens in the other 2 QF's tomorrow.

I’m by no means in a group of his biggest fans, I just think he’s an easy target. Clearly shown by hardly no one mentioning how shit mbappe was tonight in here

Pretty 50-50 I'd say, both teams had the same amount of shots on targets. Both teams missed big chances

I hope that there’s just one team, one manager, that throws caution to the wind and lets his team play offensive football. Results be damned. Just one please.

I've not watched properly but whenever ive switched on, spain have been playing very quick vertical passes, quick feet, etc. They take actual risks in midfield and the wings.
When they took off the entire forward line today, it was a bad sign. And another bad sign is that Pedri, Carvajal, and Morata are all gone.

Every other team has been utter shit.

Both Martinez and Deschamps should be fired.

I have never seen such a poor Euros. Both were so afraid to lose. If Mbappe isnt fit, dont play him..or at least start him.And seriously Griezmann -Tchou - Camavinga - Kante? Ronaldo should be a sub at most. Why would we not see Jota in a game like this? Instead we have to endure Ronaldo lumbering around. Pepe deserved his spot in the lineup, Ronaldo did not.

Take a guess? Who's up front? We also have a Spanish fraud as manager. Santos did the right thing dropping Ronaldo. Now we have a yes man Ronaldo cultist as manager.
It's not the result that makes me feel sorry for the Portuguese, it's more the fact that it's exactly what you all expected. You deserve better.

I’d swap the England squad for portugals in a heartbeat.

Hoping Olmo doesn't go to City, made the difference tonight by scoring first and assisting second. I can't understand why we aren't looking at bringing in Fullkrug either who could definitely help out Rasmus.

He was phenomenal today. Best player by a country mile. Would love a player with his quick feet and urgency in our team.

Portugal shot themselves in the foot by building around a 39 year old striker who was booted out by a weak Manchester United team. A complete and utter waste of all the talent in that squad.

On France, I usually don’t mind them but in this tournament along with England they’re the ones I don’t want to see win the thing. Their football under Deschamps has never been great but now it’s absolutely dreadful. Funnily enough, for all jizzing over Kante, aside from fit / inform Griezmann and Mbappe, they’re actually missing Pogba a lot. He was often the one that combining with Griezmann that broke past their laborious small time counter attack style and brought some creative spark and flair to their play.

That's why I'm hoping he doesn't go to City, feel like IF we can get back in Champions League we could attract him next summer but doubt he waits.
