QF | Spain vs Germany | Portugal vs France

Oyarzabal, Ferran Torres, Mikel Merino, and Joselu. Too mediocre sub options.

What’s the rationale in taking off your two best attacking players so early ?

How come Simon starts ahead of Raya? I don’t watch him week to week but he always seems to have a clanger in him for Spain.

Shame they're so conservative.

It's what wins tournament football imo - and they can afford to be so, with the front line they've got.

I think there's also a bit of misunderstanding of the midfielders. Camavinga and Kante are true box to box midfielders. They're both wrongly categorised as DMs.

If you're a fully grown man playing at the biggest tournament of your career and you dye your hair bright pink, it's safe to say you've got a screw loose.
To be fair, no one heard of him before Leverkusen won the title. Let the man have his fun.

I think Spain have had some pretty terrible goalkeeping performances from keepers that play in the PL so they seem to stick to La Liga GK's these days.

Wirtz should have used the same right foot he used to score.

Probably get a better connection with it ala shanked/just on target.

Camavinga will be a CM/LW to cover for Mbappe lack of defensive work

Almost cost them this match. Havertz just messed up a free goal.

Moments like that occasionally happen with all the ball-playing keepers, even the best ones. It happens with Ederson, Onana, Simón, Costa, all of them. The upside still heavily outweighs the risk.

Wirtz had to hit the target with that chance at the end.

Sending goal-kicks straight to the opposition has nothing to do with the inherent risks of "ball-playing". It's just straight up bad.

I'm winded as if i was playing the whole 105, after their goal this has been breathless stuff

Isn’t Unai Simon a penalty specialist? Think Spain have the edge there.

What upside? It was a goal kick. No pressure or anything, just poor. Someone that's good at passing shouldn't be messing up a goal kick like that, never mind twice in the same match. Really poor.
