I can't deal with the Megadrive graphics on that tiny GPU :wenger:
Sure, you go and take a minibus over a Ferrari. Enjoy your load screens...

You might have the Ferrari speeds but it'll please the eyes about as much as a Fiat Multipla

Aha. It is tempting, but I'm not ready for that. When cross platform is more popular I might be up for it.

Ironically, it's Xbox gamers that hold that back

SoT had to specifically allow opt out because of all the whining, now they moved onto bitch and moaning about private servers. It's similar stories on Cod and Halo too.

PC crossplay is a bit of a nightmare for console users though. As soon as you turn it off on COD there's next to zero cheating. Although I'm sure it still happens it was pretty much every game on certain COD modes with crossplay, til they improved things a bit.

Yeah, console gamers always claim cheating, funny thing is, most wouldn't know it for real.

There's always an excuse, it's why crossplay still isn't as normal as it should be. Well unless you go the Fortnite/Halo route and make console aimbot (which, ironically is the same principle and code as most aim hacks) ridiculously strong which ruins it in the other direction.

Out of interest which console do you prefer @Redlambs from what you’ve seen? (I know you usually criticise both Sony and MS consoles quite heavily!)

I'm a console gamer. What I criticise I do for balance as people fall for the same shit and hype every single gen. Besides, as I'be said before, Sony created the Yaroze and M$ directX so both companies are owed some sort of gratitude from me

But the PS5 all the way first, though no doubt I will get both as always. That's because I have a PC and zero need for the Xbox from the off.

Plus, as should be clear by now, I've always favoured development innovations in one form or another, and I hate how PC like consoles have become, so for the PS5 to do something even slightly different gets my thumb up.

Yeah I don’t think you’ve witnessed it then. It’s blatantly obvious, not just a good player. Nonstop constant headshots on people they can’t see. If it wasn’t true it wouldn’t have got better when they did a mass banning and put new measures in place. And it wouldn’t be better with crossplay turned off.

Yeah I remember that Watchdog Special quite well. The report was made by an Xbox magazine journalist and was criticized for being inaccurate and trying to portray the small percentage of failures as (just like you've put it) massive, but you know, it's the same as the RROD... Pash.

Oh you wanna go down memory lane.

I remember when you got pwned by geko last week.

If what wasn't true?

And "it's blatantly obvious" means nothing. There was another wave of "blatantly obvious" videos against a top streamer the other day, all of which were over a certain section of gamers not knowing what pre-fire or proper tracking was.

And companies have always tackled cheating, and always will. I'm not sure the relevance there, but hey ho!

(Pssst btw, there are ways to cheat on console too. Shhh, don't tell anyone!)

By blatantly obvious I mean it clearly wasn’t just pre-aiming or tracking. I’m decent at both those things so I know what it looks like.

Even some of the top streamers I’ve briefly seen have complained about all the cheating.

As for the relevance of cheaters being removed - the game having noticeably less of these people who you are just saying are incredible players is proof they’re not that and they are in fact cheaters. Your own argument ends there.

And I already acknowledged cheating is possible on console, it’s just way way less prevalent, at least on cod. Again, proven by what happens when you turn crossplay off.

Ahh, here we go. Now because I'm saying it's not as prevalent as console players make out, that it's well known the excuses far outweigh the reality, that's the equivalent of me saying it isn't a problem at all and hasn't been since the dawn of time.

Pretty standard on how these things go

What are you even on about? You’re tying yourself in a knot. And could you be any more condescending?

I actually don't think cheating on PC is as bad as made out also.
Some streamers play up to it so much. I remember watching Doc on Warzone a few weeks back scrutinise a clip for like 5minutes and then finally admitted he made the mistake.

Sure it's gonna be more prevalent than on a console, but it's being blown way out of proportion here.

Could it not be that mouse and keyboard players are just reacting quicker and more accurate than you are, so when you turn crossplay off, you're against controller players....

I mean, if all you've played against is other controller users for years, then a lot of PC players will be of a higher standard

Doc believes anyone and everyone who kills him on any game is questionable

All of us do!

Well it's hard not to be when it's the same old tired thing of making up an argument.

You clearly think I'm saying something I'm not, hence why I said about the cheaters being banned not being relevant. I'm not denying there are cheaters, so why would the fact there are and they being banned be relevant to what we were actually talking about? You said about crossplay, I said why it's actually gone backwards...which is factually has with games now starting off as crossplay then adding the option to opt out thanks mostly to whining.

And I'm sure you are great at games and you can spot the difference between decent kbm movement, aim and all the tricks, but are you suggesting most console gamers can? Because it's absolutely clear they cannot, I get accused of cheating more on console than PC I bet you have been too. Play any game with open coms and you hear it constantly, check the likes of reddit/twitter and there's all sorts of moaning at companies, stupid clips that make no sense. The sad thing is, it helps the real cheaters mask themselves if anything.

Oh and cheating is rife in console tournaments too, no point in downplaying one side and overplaying the other.

It's easier to blame others or the game than yourself.

We've all been there ;)

If you mean Dr Disrespect, he’s usually on a wind up anyway isn’t he?

It was literally every other game in ground war. That’s no exaggeration. I was in one game where our team couldn’t spawn anywhere outside because there was a group on the other team all doing it, presumably a group of mates. Instant headshots, including through objects, the split second you spawned.

And cod tends to match controller users with each other. I’ve played in enough games where there’s the odd mnk user to know that alone isn’t enough. And that’s in hc mp, where reactions really do matter.

It’s much better since they did a mass ban and started matching known cheaters against each other.

I’m not talking about people complaining about a good player and throwing accusations though. Quick reactions and preaiming are totally different to instashotting multiple people they can’t even see in a matter of seconds and as soon as they spawn across the map on Ground War. And yeah, I know what being decent with a sniper looks like. Perhaps you’re playing in such good lobbies that it becomes difficult to tell the difference between a hacker and a quality player.

Or you didn’t play ground war before the change.
It was nowhere near as prevalent and noticeable on any other mode. And as soon as crossplay went off, it didn’t happen.

That's largely because you aren't playing with PC players though, no?

Look, I'm not suggesting you personally haven't seen hackers and don't know what they look like, nor am I suggesting it's not an issue, but I play mostly on PC servers on all sorts of games where I read they are "rife" with cheating, and they just aren't that bad. At all. And I spent 20 odd years playing CS ;)

Like I say, as an example away from cod and back on to crossplay, look at Sea of Thieves. The Xbox players complained so much about PC cheaters (btw, I've yet to come across a single cheat and I've played hundreds of hours), that they forced in crossplay. What happened next? Predictable new excuses for the loses, mostly now they are demanding PvE only servers and shit like that not realising it will kill the game.

So what I'm saying is of course it looks less like cheating if you are all on controller (which isn't the case on xbox or ps4 anyway, add in a xim or similar and you get autoaim on mouse, which is aimbotting), but also you are getting dedicated console servers which has less ping issues and those account for way more accusations of cheating than anything (check out the early Valorant drama for examples of that!).

Game companies are well aware of this, hence why crossplay is a long way off being as norm as it could be. It's a tough one though, because as we've seen in fortnite for example, it can go too far the other way.

https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/6/2...acks-hacking-tools-developer-response-problem

I am going to have to post that again.

There’s no comparison. Cheating on PC is common and easier to do than console. Don’t know why it’s talked about so much in this thread though.

Console you will have to jtag or mod your console to cheat. Too much hassle for like 99% of people. Then most likely firmware patch will come or you will get console banned. Which means you’d have to buy another console to cheat. In PC, worst case scenario you’d have to buy the game again even though I bet most these cheats don’t even do that too.

No one is saying it isn't more common on pc. No one is comparing the amounts of cheating on systems either.

Also competive console games have a lot of cheating, it's weird people don't seem to know it goes on, and no you don't have to install hacks to do it.

I know there are plenty of reasons why a console player might throw a misplaced accusation out. I just firmly believe I know what I've seen was cheating, and that's backed up by things getting much better when they started matching cheaters together and enabled 2 factor authentication for new accounts.

It also wasn't prevalent or obvious at all in any other game mode than Ground War. That it was so noticeable there only further reinforces it to me. If it was just these great players with a nice ping, it would've been noticeable everywhere.

Because of crossplay talk. I love crossplay, but I'd much prefer console only for now...until I get a PC (if I ever do).

Well we are getting closer to common ground, because again I'm not doubting you've seen cheats. It does happen, and until they further patched it was a problem and still is.

But again, remember we were talking about crossplay and why it's not more of a thing. Cheats being one, accusations of cheats being another. And I'm telling you for a fact, dev teams are very much aware of the tells and why people think everyone is cheating. Look into Valorant and the attempts they are making at both sides.

Both those things are hurting the chances. Of course I think cheating is worse, but games are being changed more and more based on feedback these days (i.e twitter and reddit whining) and to come full circle, my answer to your point is the same...we are actually getting further from full crossplay being a thing right now. It's a difficult problem for them to solve, that's for sure!

Well just don't let talk of cheating put you off mate. It's like the talk of cost, way overblown.

Besides, one thing is absolute fact, you can compete on PC with a controller these days. You haven't lived until you've played a proper 1080p with 144hz (or obviously above on both!) with a framerate to match.

Trust me, you'll get why the console pros across lots of the more recent shooters switched to pc with controller en masse and only go back for easy tourny money ;)

Yeah, the cost doesn't help. I'll be keen to try 144hz on the new consoles. Problem is I'll also want 4k for other, less intense games. Would also prefer to have it hooked up to my main tv. Gonna have to seriously look at what the best option is for me.

Rumour currently online that Microsoft are targeting a $400 price point for the series X and will release the lower specced series S console for around $200. They have a conference next month showing off more of their plans apparently.

The lower priced console could be a great alternative for people. I wasn’t planning on getting a series X I’ll be going PC and PS5 but for something around the $200 having gamepass available whilst still offering some next gen features could be amazing.

No it just means games are made to the lowest common denominator and you cant just slide everything up, more to games then resolution and textures, its an awful idea.

Well it’s worked on pc for the last 30 years. It’s even been working this gen with the differences between PS4/pro and the one/one x.

I think Microsoft have big plans for their upcoming streaming service and will target the cheaper series S as their streaming/gamepass console.

They had big plans for kinect and an always online console with non tradeable games and couldnt play them without an active internet connection, just saying.

Not sure of your point, completely irrelevant to this but ok.
