I'll be opting for a PS5 for my next gen needs, but if MS start dropping must-have exclusives then an S to accompany it seems the logical move at such a low price. Even cheaper by the time those exclusives actually arrive.

Then again, the PS6 may be on the horizon by then...
Fantastic post.

I notice how a reason for your madness is suspiciously absent...

Yeah what exactly is the reason to buy a ps5?

We were told it’s the controller - it’s constantly fecked.
We’re told it’s the games - so, Sackboy?

And that’s it. That was all the reasons.

I'm thinking of the X on that All Access scheme they have where you pay for it monthly with no upfront charge and you get Game Pass Ultimate for 2 years.

But yeah, I'm probably not doing that until we see what the situation is re Bethesda, etc so it's at least a year, maybe two before actually becoming reality IMO

It's all about reason with you XBox people. Just let your hearts guide you.

Not heard about this but I'll look into it.

If you are gonna buy a gaming machine on 0% finance, id at least consider a proper gaming pc yes it will cost more but if you are going down the monthly finance route its at least worth a consideration and will be considerably better then your series X with all the same games, same applies to a PS5.

It's been a while since I owned a PS/Xbox, but the thread title made me curious:

What are the Xbox exclusives? 6 seems like a ridiculously low amount, so they better be good games. And if not: what are the arguments for buying an Xbox over a PS? Is it cheaper? More powerful?

Genuinely curious. No fighting please!

It’s actually wrong. It’s 0 exclusives as you can play them all on PC.

The major reason for buying an xbox currently is on future promises which they have never fulfilled since they became established in the console market.

Which is the promise of great exclusive games which never really materialised in anything but very small numbers, the bethesda thing has given them a bit of clout no doubt as Doom (Id Software) are fantastic games possibly the best if not one of the best multiplatform engines developed its fantastic. Add on to Bethesda (who in my opinion have been on a downward spiral for years now and i don't expect anything great from them in the future) nostalgia however is a very powerful tool and Morrowind, Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim and Oblivion are all fantastic games so people have a strong hope it will continue (Rare anyone?)

The Xbox as a system is technically superior in pushing resolution/framerate its a small gap but it's a fact.

We also live in a gaming market which consists of a huge majority that just buy Call of Duty, Fifa every year and are happy so its irrelevant to them what system has more exclusive games and the xbox controller since the 360 has always been better for first person shooters its still a non-contest to this day for me.

Then there is gamepass which is championed as a great way to enjoy games without the expense of purchasing the titles and should encourage you to play games you wouldn't normally drop £50 on i can see the appeal of this but I'm sceptical of what it will look like in the long term it could be fantastic, it could be full of shovelware thats down to microsoft themselves.

Thats my 2 cents, if i didn't have a top gaming rig there is no doubt at some point i would of picked up a series X just because i don't like missing out on any top class games.

Title is to do with Bafta nominations, not specifically the exclusives each console has. Series X is not cheaper, is slightly more powerful though mileage may vary on how games perform, with some performing better on PlayStation with faster load times.

Here is a list of 'exclusive' games coming to Xbox this year. I say 'exclusive' as a number of them are timed, while one of them isn't even an exclusive and they say so in the article.

2022/23 is when Xbox's first party is expected to wake up and release more games. Halo is expected for the end of this year, but it was also expected for the end of last year and that didn't quite work out.

@Bosws87 , @Damien cheers!

So it seems that in terms of price and performance there's not much separating the two(which is what I suspected). I didn't consider the controller argument. For the FIFA/CoD crowd it definitely makes sense to go with the console with your preferred controller.

Beyond this I have a hard time understanding the Xbox "loyalty", though. If I was to pick a console, the game library would be the only thing that matters if the price and performance is roughly the same.

The thing with the gaming PC is that while it will undoubtedly be more powerful and better than this current next-gen and even 1-2 generations after (and for that reason I wouldn't mind paying the premium for it), keeping it up to date and current seems like an absolute ball ache for someone like me, who isn't very technically minded. On the other side of things however, the games are usually very cheap on sale, etc.

It's still a year or so away from getting to the point that a separate gaming purchase is required, but you definitely have given me something to think about, thanks mate.

Yeah, Overwatch got the 120fps update today, but no update for PS5 because they messed up how they handled BC. It’s the same with rocket league. For them to upgrade it to 120fps, they would have to create a new version specifically for the PS5. That is the last thing Overwatch developers would want to do considering the sequel isn’t far behind.

Amateur hour by Cerny and the boys.

Careful of listening to the Sony plums too much. The only reason to buy one is the controller, if you’re desperate for the haptic gimmick, and they’ve had a lot of issues with it.

It’s not the only ultra common issue people have been having with it either.

They keep harping on about all the exclusives they have, but where are they? They don’t have any either, shy of Sackboy (Spider-Man is a PS4 game with a next gen upgrade).

They’re waiting for the big exclusives as much as Xbox.

Sackboy is on PS4. So get your facts right Veeva.

I expect a “great post” from @esmufc07 for correcting you.

But there waiting on a company with a proven track record of new IP's and a large collection of great exclusive games which a lot are critically acclaimed.

You are waiting since the release of the 360 for this to happen after countless promises and them never being fulfilled yet still waste your time trolling.

Eh? They bought like 17 new studios in the past few years and more are incoming. It takes time to release games and some of these studios had existing projects to complete before moving to new games. They have 23 in total now. They had like 6 or 7 when the Xbox one came out. I think they closed Lionhead a few years later.

You think all of them are going to release dud games? That’s hopeful thinking. Xbox is going to be the place for RPG games especially as CD project Red shot themselves in the foot with the disaster that was Cyberpunk. So everyone is going to be looking at what Obsidian, playground and Bethesda do.

I want them to release good games its only a couple of you who post in here have a siege mentality and think everyone wants xbox to fail.

It would be great if they brought a huge selection of top class games, but if someone asks for advice on what console to choose i cant go out on a whim and recommend them to choose the xbox on a chance they might step up, how is this so hard to understand?

@esmufc07 which one is the best out of all three consoles?

I am more talking about that. What countless promises? MS never had the amount of studios they had back then. I told you they had 6 or 7 and were scaling back. Sony in comparison had 13 back then. MS were focusing on the wrong things like Kinect and TV. That’s all gone now. They going to have tons of exclusives now with their recent acquisitions. That’s a guarantee. Whether they good or bad remains to be seen.

As far as i can remember when i had my 360 and Gears was the best thing since sliced bread people have been forever wanting those exclusive games and it was to be a focus in the future.

I had no problem with the beginning they bought up 3rd party exclusives to get a foothold as they were new to the market had great success with the 360 then threw it all away with the Xbox one which we should be able to all agree was complete trash and a disaster.

We all know games take longer then ever to develop the blockbusters even longer, if they pull it off and there's some excellent original titles its only a success for all of us that enjoy games.

They even hit a couple of gems along the way, Lost Odyssey what an excellent game that was, blue dragon (i think) JRPG's being my favourite genre i remember clearly the push towards japanese games in the 360 era.

the acquirement of all the studios clearly points to the fact they know this is their weak point.

edit:

Acting like i don't know Sony were a disaster at one point too, i bought a ps3 on launch for whatever disgusting price that was back then (£600?) i was literally sold the dream that i bought a console with a super computer inside it (cell processor) claims such as it didn't need a gpu the cell was that powerful the spu's could do everything.

In reality i couldn't even open up the XMB in-game for what a few years, i couldn't have a private party with any of my friends invites weren't universal they were game specific it was an absolute nightmare, they eventually won me around with top class games in the end of the ps3 lifecycle, but god damn was it a piece of overpriced crap on release.

Not to mention we know a hell of a lot more about the exclusives coming from Sony. Not so much from MS.... all a bit vague, and wishful...

They had more but closed Lionhead, Press Play, Team Dakota, Good Science Studio and Microsoft Studios Victoria, separated from Twisted Pixel, merged Soho Productions and Lift London in 2015 before stopping them from working on games and shifted BigPark to work in the Microsoft Office side of things after Kinect ended up being a wet fart.

I bought it for Gamepass mainly and no regrets there. If you aren't too bothered about hype then Gamepass is the best way to have fun playing a variety of games.

I can remember when they tried to go all-out on developers early on and brought some good RPG's to entice Japan. They have merged or closed a lot of the developers since then. As far as I can tell this is a list of developers MS have removed / closed over the years.

I expected this to be like the Messi vs Ronaldo thread, it’s remarkable that it’s turned out more like the Beckham vs Anderton thread.

More like Ronaldo v Phil Jones with the amount of times ps5 has been broken and how ugly it is (sorry Phil)

Bojan was the one who was saying Xbox was the best selling in January, so he started it.

I was celebrating the news about Xbox in the Xbox thread. Plus you should be neutral in all this. So it was you who was deleting my Bethesda thread changes.
