Protest at Old Trafford

Most likely none of this will work. The Glazers (like the other billionaire owners of English clubs), are in their ivory towers and probable laughing at the demostration. Demostrations are meaningless. Possibly the only thing that will work is if their gravy train is somehow negatively affected.

Disgraceful. Is this what the air ambulance was for @TheReligion ?

Oh, feck that. Poor man :(

Why is there always some feckers that ruin it for the rest? That is arguably the only downside with these protests. Among the small minority of people who are willing to act, there is unfortunately always some absolute nutters who would practically join any form of demonstration, just to have an excuse to wreak havoc.

No one's been injured though @Pexbo

Hope he’s OK. If he was attacked by a protester then I don’t condone it, if that’s what you’re suggesting?

We also know absolutely nothing about how it actually happened, for what it’s worth.

Huge story. Out of curiosity, I checked the official website. Not one mention of it

Fans have spoken. Proud of everyone who attended the presentation today, with the exception of any minority who took it to an extreme.

Do the naysayers still think this will achieve nothing and will be forgotten?

Slightly gutted the game is off but it’s a strong message. Hope it gets moved to tomorrow!

Violence towards who? Sorry? We’re club staff or security injured?
Yes they were. At least one policeman with a facial injury. One person knocked out. There's also video of a bunch of fans running after a car and trying to smash it and get at the driver.

Joel doesn't care about scarves and hashtags. He will notice this.

The official noodle sponsors will be fuming

The only embarrassing thing here is your nonsense about protecting the image of the company owned by the Glazers.

This is about damaging their asset, even if the collateral damage will be short-term damage and even some points docked for us as a football club.

Seeing as you are from Poland, I wonder if you think your government is entitled to do what they've been doing in curbing your freedoms recently. And do you think your compatriots should have stayed at home and hastaged their way to protesting against your government. Were you embarrased then as well?

Joke of a post.
I'm sorry, but it's not a joke of a post. Some of the high-minded people on this forum who think this is all very noble stuff need to go and look what other people are saying about this. I spoke this afternoon to a friend who's a Newcastle supporter and he was aghast when he considers what they get to spend. I'm not defending the Glazers here, I don't like them as owners, but the money Utd have spent in 5-6 years dwarfs what many others clubs have spent and makes Utd supporters look like selfish brats with a sense of entitlement; and I certainly don't want the club to be owned by a Middle Eastern state that steals from its citizens to fuel its plaything football clubs in Europe.
This protest punishes the players and the supporters.

The match has just been called off by the officials and sanctions could be taken against the team - not the owners or the protestors, the team and the supporters.

Sorry if people here disagree with this, but you need to hear it. Just look at what most of the commentators are saying (apart from Gary Neville who's becoming a parody of himself). By all means protest against the owners, but mobs at Old Trafford are not the way to do it.

I get protesting, but why take it out on police throwing bottles and what not , scumbags

I honestly don't think it was ever intended to go this far, at least not to the extent that innocents - those with no affiliation to the Glazers whatsoever - got severely injured.

Wow, wasn't expecting this really, sends out a huge message now. We have tried to protest against them before but we have never had a game called off.

Good for you. Keep the pressure up. Take back what was yours to begin with.

this is all that is going to be remembered of this protest now. People can argue that 99% of the protesters were peaceful and they were but that won’t be what’s remembered.

This is huge!!

I wonder how the glazers will respond?

What will the PL do? Points deduction on the way?

GAME OFF
Man Utd v Liverpool (postponed)
Manchester United have confirmed the game has been called off. More to follow.

BBC

The fans are just going to try this again for the next game. They should just get it played even If it was at 10pm tonight. There's no fans so no traffic issues and all that so it wouldn't make much difference to the players.

Doubt they would be in bed by 12 every night
