Protest at Old Trafford

Nothing wrong this then?

Violence, property damage and injuring people is never right but come on man, massively inflating the impact of those idiots in those videos is pathetic. If you want to see something closer to the hyperbole being pushed just take a quick peek at the Mayday protests in Germany

No idea, force through legislation?

How did Germany manage to bring it in?
It’s a historic rule, it prevented the teams being bought up like they have here.

Now even if the government implemented this legislation, fans specifically of the bigger clubs don’t have the billions needed to by 51% of a club. So implementing it retrospectively just isn’t possible

So, how is terrorising and harassing people in their cars going to get the Glazers out of the club? People will say it is peaceful, but would you find it funny if a large group of people surrounded your car and started shouting stuff at you? I bet people wouldn't find it funny it that situation. You don't know what they would do; you don't know them.

It is typical trouble makers who are claiming their trouble-making has a meaning.
The vast, vast majority want the protests to be done in the right way. It's a matter of ensuring that happens: no violence or intimidation. The principle is correct, we need to ensure the methods match that.

Im starting to think there are lots of fans in here who watch US Fox News and use that as their baseline.....

It won't. It's one of the downsides at every protest, you atract a small group of people who will go out and cause a bit of trouble.

You know why the alt-right hate "cancel culture"? Because it works. Letting advertisers know you're boycotting their products, withdrawing contribution of money directly from the product itself by not buying shirts or other merch. Don't buy tickets and attend the games. Using rivers to watch games instead of paying for sky and bt sports packages, and tell them exactly why you're cancelling.

When you see the Glazers selling off X amount of shares that don't have voting power, they can do that because of the financial status of the club.

no way. Even in Germany, many are calling for getting rid of this law. It made the Bundesliga lack of competition and quality compared to EPL and La Liga. We don't want EPL turning into something like Bayernliga right?

We've been allowed back into the commentary box so we are sat where where we'd usually be at this point with around five minutes of the first half left.

We are awaiting a decision as to whether or not this game actually takes place. Discussions are continuing between the two clubs and the match officials and representatives from the Premier League.

As well as the security of the players, if and when they do arrive here inside the stadium, the discussions have to be how they get through the crowds of fans who are still congregated outside.

In these Covid times, there are usually two coaches per team so that means four coaches to get through the supporters before they actually get to the ground.

It's very much still a waiting game.
- Gary Flintoff (BBC)

Outside the stadium, there are still a couple of dozen supporters waiting for the teams to arrive.

Everything is peaceful and good natured but there is no sense they will be leaving any time soon.

- Simon Stone (BBC)

The only embarrassing thing here is your nonsense about protecting the image of the company owned by the Glazers.

This is about damaging their asset, even if the collateral damage will be short-term damage and even some points docked for us as a football club.

Seeing as you are from Poland, I wonder if you think your government is entitled to do what they've been doing in curbing your freedoms recently. And do you think your compatriots should have stayed at home and hastaged their way to protesting against your government. Were you embarrased then as well?

Joke of a post.

What is your point in making a reference to the nationality of the poster? Does that discredit their argument in any way you would like to share with us?

The guy has a point. Do you really think the Glazers are bricking it as a result of this protest thinking they've got to sell up now?

Any point he's trying to make is diluted by how distasteful he's being in the circumstances.

Since when has telling the truth been distasteful.
There was a well documented rave during the lockdown not long ago close to Bristol where the police claimed a large number of their officers were injured. Only for the so called large number of officers to be revised down to just the odd few.

I imagine you could get in Downing Street if 200 people wanted to. Although a stadium can’t be that hard to lock down given most ways in are pretty small
I can tell you, you wouldn't get into Downing St without a tank or at least a bazooka - and there weren't meant to be any fans near the ground, given Covid - so there should have been a hint something was up

Disgraceful. Is this what the air ambulance was for @TheReligion ?

They love the club, they wouldn't do this!

I've heard that we shouldn't be talking about all the people who gathered there on the pitch as if they were idiots, because of one idiot doing something.

Well, one idiot with a corner flag, the other idiot with a tripod, some idiots throwing bottles at police, another idiot doing this to that guy.

That's a nice anti-Glazer protest, then!

Total support to everyone who went to the pitch.

Against modern football.

Few things that warrant mentioning:
  • It wasn't a camera, it was a tripod.
  • It was a remarkably peaceful protest, considering the number of people involved and how emotive the subject is.
  • The "private property" that was trespassed upon, was built for, and funded by, the same fans that entered it. The "owners" haven't stepped foot in the place in years.
  • The Glazers will be gone one day, so will the manager and the players, Sky Sports, Chevrolet, Adidas and Nissan Noodles. The fans, their children and their grandchildren will still be there. We are the club - not them.

He was using his nationality to use an analogy that he could relate with. Nowt wrong with that.

Most likely none of this will work. The Glazers (like the other billionaire owners of English clubs), are in their ivory towers and probable laughing at the demostration. Demostrations are meaningless. Possibly the only thing that will work is if their gravy train is somehow negatively affected.

Maybe so. Let’s say the Capitol then
