Protest at Old Trafford

The protest just made the French news outlets here, some comparing it to the scenes in Marseilles a few weeks ago where fans broke into the training ground.

Most likely none of this will work. The Glazers (like the other billionaire owners of English clubs), are in their ivory towers and probable laughing at the demostration. Demostrations are meaningless. Possibly the only thing that will work is if their gravy train is somehow negatively affected.
Demonstrations are never meaningless

Since when has telling the truth been distasteful.
There was a well documented rave during the lockdown not long ago close to Bristol where the police claimed a large number of their officers were injured. Only for the so called large number of officers to be revised down to just the odd few.

Ok

Few things that warrant mentioning:
  • It wasn't a camera, it was a tripod.
  • It was a remarkably peaceful protest, considering the number of people involved and how emotive the subject is.
  • The "private property" that was trespassed upon, was built for, and funded by, the same fans that entered it. The "owners" haven't stepped foot in the place in years.
  • The Glazers will be gone one day, so will the manager and the players, Sky Sports, Chevrolet, Adidas and Nissan Noodles. The fans, their children and their grandchildren will still be there. We are the club - not them.
Amen to that

It won't. It's one of the downsides at every protest, you atract a small group of people who will go out and cause a bit of trouble.
Especially if Antifa get wind of it. They love going in on the police

They love the club, they wouldn't do this!

I've heard that we shouldn't be talking about all the people who gathered there on the pitch as if they were idiots, because of one idiot doing something.

Well, one idiot with a corner flag, the other idiot with a tripod, some idiots throwing bottles at police, another idiot doing this to that guy.

That's a nice anti-Glazer protest, then!

So about ~5 idiots out of 1000's? Excellent analysis of the statistics there.

Very well said. That is exactly the difference between the fans and the owners.
The fans are passionate about the club.
The owners are passionate about taking as much money out of the club as is possible.

Not condoning the violence. But good job protesting, whoever was there! Good way to be heard by stopping one of the largest televised sporting event!!

Keep plugging away

Even if the match resume, it will definitely affect our preparations for the Roma match.

Well said mate.

Fantastic Protest all things considered.

We Decide when you Play! What a message.

Obviously there was 1 or 2 idiots but overall a resoudingly peaceful protest!

As a one off it doesn’t, if it’s a statement of intent and more follows then that’s different.

Glazers will hate this and certainly won’t be laughing, they want everything to go quiet and people to move on. Now it’s more questions for everyone at the club, more attention, more calls with concerned sponsors etc. They’ll do what they always do, hope it dies down and focus on making more money for themselves.

While I'm completely for the protest, hopefully the scum that took it too far and assaulted staff/security get caught. Not sure how you can be for the club when you're assaulting club staff who may very well agree with the protest but are just doing their job.

I hate to be negative here, but I can't see this having any effect on the Glazers. They already know the fans don't like them and want them to sell the club. However, they won't even consider selling unless somebody matches their asking price of around £4billion. Even then they may not sell, they are sitting pretty 3,000 miles away drawing big dividend cheques unaffected by fans protesting in England. Plus if you think the idea of a Super League is dead, it wouldn't surprise me if they bring it up again in some other format in a couple of years. Also if there is a sale, who buys, the ruling family of Saudi Arabia, or a Chineses billionaire? That may well be a case of sticking with the devil you know, or of being careful what you ask for.

The other think that has been mentioned is this 50 +1, does the British Government have the authority to legislate that? I wouldn't think so, but I could be wrong, and I would imagine that practically ever club in the Premier will fight against it.

I get protesting, but why take it out on police throwing bottles and what not , scumbags

It's all getting rather silly now. The hotel and stadium are secure but they are still awaiting for the teams to leave their respective hotels. Just get on with now ffs.
