Protest at Old Trafford

My mate is at the Lowry and he's next to a guy on his phone talkin to somebody at the ground and telling him to get in to the changing rooms before the Liverpool coach arrives. Making the changing rooms no longer covid safe and having the game scrapped
Hes a fecking idiot.

I'm not advocating this but wouldn't it have been slightly more prudent to get in the ground somehow and interrupt the match itself?

Anyway, fans have done well so far. Just keep it peaceful. Keep going.
That’s what I said. Take a few shovels and dig up the pitch in front of the goal, job done and no violence needed.

The guy being shown just now on NBC is the guy who tossed the camera. Saw him again a bit ago trying to pull one of the big tarp banners up off the seats. He was just on the pitch again. Making quite a day of it.

nice way to get a ban from the club:wenger: not wearing any form of cover, see his face clear as day.

Oh well guess nobody should say anything then, its all pointless so why bother. Maybe we should stop singing songs at games too.
The bottom line is sing don’t sing protest don’t protest it’s unlikely to make much difference. It’s really sad but it’s true

I think if it had been 100% peaceful the message would have been really strong. It’s going to be muddled now and in some ways even damaging. We want the media on our side images of fans smashing media equipment is really un helpful.

realistically we all have to remember the only way the Glazers leave is if some one with billions of pounds spare comes in and buys the club, seeing even a minority of fans acting like thugs is not going to help temp multi billionaires into investing in us.

Protests are useful as they may encourage the glazers to sell if a bid does come in, but without that bid Glazers are going nowhere no matter how much people protest.
Agree completely.

It will make a difference. It is already being reported on several media outlets and has become the main football news story. The game will almost certainly be delayed and may even be postponed or worse. If that isn't making a difference then I don't know what is.

Along with the protests all last year in the US... the storming of the Capitol... this... I have been consistently amazed at how many people doing these things aren’t taking full advantage of the fact that wearing a face covering is completely acceptable to do right now.

Are they really fans or just folks making trouble? Surely they would make their point protesting outside. I hope they call the police.
There’s a shit tonne of people there. Bound to be some causing trouble.

If they were serious about protesting, they should've sat on the pitch and refused to move.

The Glazers won't care. They'll sell the club when it suits them (not any time soon) and when they do the sad reality is that we'll probably be an oil money club.

I think its made a difference already. The publicity is massive and shines a clear spotlight on the unhappiness with the Glazers. Its a significant protest and done with the minimal amount of damage compared to other protests and civil disobedience. Protesting is never a waste of time to those who are on the wrong end of an injustice.

Wow. The same folks spamming the Glazers Out thread are now condemning the protestors. How did ya think the Glazers will leave?

Wonder if they will stay gathered outside and hope their chants get picked up on the match commentary

No, it idiotic. The owners won't give a flying one about any of this with so much equity (profit) further down the line.

Apparently the ref has been turned away from the stadium. We'll probably end up giving away the three points for this.

In the grand scheme of things, that might be a worth sacrificing, because it sends the world a message of what United fans think of the Glazers, and it'll be embarrassing for them.

fecking bizarre not to mask up.

Doubt they're even watching it on NBC. The staff in charge will be sorting it out and dealing with the aftermath and the owners will just sit back and continue doing what they do.

Exactly. The money isn't going to dry up for then anyway. Even a lot of fans who want them out aren't going to be so hardcore to protest and stop buying merch / tickets or watching them on TV.

Astounded by the reaction on here being so mixed. We need change. That doesn’t happen by standing outside holding a banner ffs.
And how does it happen by a few hundred people breaking into the stadium to ruin the hallowed turf and take a few pictures in their 5 minutes of fame? They turned a brilliant protest with people, banners, scarves, posters and flares into a riot which will only serve to attract negativity and distract the players.

A few things needs to happen if they are to sell:

1) Bad press, and that can happen if our fans protest vehemently but peacefully OUTSIDE the stadium, and I applaud those who did. The people who went in the stadium have brought all the bad press on themselves while looking like raving lunatics. I guarantee you there will be a few stories coming out in the next few days which paint the Glazers as victims now. These people have just set all of us back a few months and protests.

2) Boycott. A complete boycott of season tickets by locals, one off tickets by overseas fans, merchandise, the gift shop and anything related to the Glazers. Plain and simply, no profits = Glazers relinquishing power.

Also, adding on to all this, what was the point of protesting at the Lowry? Seriously, how does this affect the Glazers? It just distracts and bullies Ole and the players when they are clearly as distasteful of the Glazers and their plans as all us fans.

This would most likely have the opposite affect and make the Glazers want to keep a hold of the club even more.

would not be surprised if the game is cancelled and United get punished.

Protest all you want but don’t break in and destroy property of the club you supposedly love.

Just makes no sense to breach the stadium whatsoever

Currently the NBC-SN on air commentators are condemning the actions of the OT stadium demonstration. That's probably not the best message to be putting out there when it's seems clear that the fans have unimpeded access to the building

After a few weeks of the media saying the footy associations and UK government would deal with the owners like the Glazers. That doesn't seem to have happened and the fans are obviously taking matters into their own hands in the absence of accountability

I can’t really move past them not knowing the difference between gold and yellow.

Point deduction, scousers in the CL next year and new Saudi owners then. Great...fecking idiots.
