Pro Cycling 2018

It's just been confirmed that Nibali is out, fracture in a vertebra. All because Alpe d'Huez is such a fecking circus. What a damn shame. :(

Yeah shame for the boy. Tour letting itself down again for lack of consistency over time neutralisation for exceptional accidents.

Can you guys really see Thomas 'throwing' it for Froome?

Doesn't Froome have that little bit extra staying power to last the distance?

A 1-2, in any order, would be fantastic for British cycling.

Maybe Froome takes this and then supports Thomas for the other 2 Grand Tours? Would be nice :)

In all his interviews so far he's still talking about the original plan which is supporting the lead rider, Froome. G has said it himself that he doesn't typically have energy for a three week GC campaign. He wouldn't throw it, he would simply run out of gas.

Breakaway will win today for sure, but it means nothing. Not one of the 30+ in it has any chance in GC. Might get to less than 30 minutes of Thomas.

Today is also the breakaway day. Pozzovivo and Majka most interesting in it I guess. Still far away from GC contenders.

Peloton some 13 minutes behind.

Blow for Sky as Moscon has been disqualified for hitting another rider.

Police threw tear gas onto farmers, and wind blew it over peloton?

Must be these guys.

Hope that wasn't as bad as it looked.... ouch!

God damn, Gilbert. :(

Hope he's fine, still no update. Descent, and he crashed into small wall and went over it, not sure how big a crevice behind is.

It didn't look that far down, but there can be rocks and shit.

Perfectly executed descent by Alaphilippe, love seeing them go crazy like that.

I reckon there'll be blood in the top 5 tomorrow. If Dumoulin can keep within reach of Froome, I can see him overtake Froome and possibly Thomas as well in the TT.

Both are excellent time trialists as well though. Not as good as Dumoulin, but more than good enough to limit the damage. Thomas is still 1'50 ahead of Dumoulin after all.

So, apparently today should be quite spectacular (starts in two and a half hours), but I fear it'll be overhyped, and the stage will be uneventful, like so many others so far. (GC at least)

If GC riders wants to attack, this stage it is. Along with stage 19, this is when you can attack, especially with grid start system now. Aside from Froome, G, and Tom, they have very limited chances now. Now or never. They know they cant beat those 3 at ITT coming up for sure. Balls on their court.
