I think AFC would've won the title last season, for sure.
But AFC are not trying to win the title. I believe their remit is to finish in 3rd/4th. They operate as a business and for financial reasons, 3rd/4th place is the sweet spot.
To finish higher, they'll need to spend too much money, but if they finish lower, they'll lose the CL money. So, 3rd/4th place is their target.
