Preseason Tour Game 6: Bayern v Man Utd (Friendly, Sunday 05 August 19:15 BST)

We struggle to keep the ball because on the rare occasions we have possession, our players are so deep that we struggle to find that out ball to counter Bayern.

Can someone tell me how Bayern in their FIRST game back look so much better than Man utd in closing down and sharpness?

What the hell does Mourinho do with the players? It's so pathetic that I feel sick. Closed the stream.

How does he explain what we see when every other manager in top of the top 3 leagues play energetic and entertaining football?

I can't wait until he leaves.
:lol: you sound like the muppets on Facebook , who just post Jose OUT and thats it.
Some research should have been done , this is actually their 4th game !!

21 July 2018ICC 1 Bayern Munich 3–1 Paris Saint-Germain Klagenfurt, Austria
25 July 2018ICC 2 Juventus 2–0 Bayern Munich Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
28 July 2018ICC 3 Bayern Munich 2–3 Manchester City Miami Gardens, Florida, United States

It's a friendly ffs, get a grip.

We pressed them into making a mistake, then we give the ball away.

Sigh

Extremely disappointing for a team that puts so much emphasis on defence to give away a goal at a set piece. Maybe Bailly going off disrupted the organisation but it really wasn't good enough.

We're not really in this game. Our plan to sit back and counter wasn't executed well and now we're just sitting back and waiting for full time. The midfield players really need to show more composure under pressure. They're very panicky and Bayern players are finding it easy to get the ball back high up the pitch.

Mourinho plays Young at left back: 'Why isn't he playing Shaw, he's treating him terrible etc etc.'
Mourinho plays Shaw at left back: 'Shaw is shit, why is he playing?'

He can't win.

Carrick always has the same look on his face that Giggs used to have when he was sitting beside LVG.

Have we had more than 5 shots on target in almost 6 pre season games?

Any stat experts on here...

Why can't he just bring youth attacking players in as subs? What's the point of these subs?

One thing that confuses me when we play like this is whether or not Jose is actually content / happy with the way we're playing and our approach.

We can't make excuses. Mourinho is going into his third season. By now, we should not only have a discernible footballing identity, but also we should have some kind of consistency in terms of how fluid we are are working within the system. All I hear is, "I don't have the players to play my football".

Last season attack was our weak link, it looks like it will be again.

Why are we supposed to be signing a defender when attacking the away goal is our problem?

This season will be awful and I can see Jose going after giving us another dreadful few months of terrible defenceless football.

Or van Gaal, or Moyes, or Ferguson at times in his last few seasons.

We had an attacking threat with SAF in his last few seasons even if the football wasn't 'pretty'.

We scored 80+ league goals in his last 2 campaigns. Jose's not even come close to that. Our attacking threat is arguably the worst from the big 6 in the Prem.

Mourinho plays Young at left back: 'Why isn't he playing Shaw, he's treating him terrible etc etc.'
Mourinho plays Shaw at left back: 'Shaw is shit, why is he playing?'

And the Mourinho wants to buy a top class left back: "he should be able to get much more from our world class players".

Pereira not really helping his case for a spot in the squad. Everyone has been dire though so not too worried for him.

We are playing against a much better team in fairness, so not surprising. The centre backs have looked OK tonight. That's about it.

Do people realise Bayern have been playing in the ICC. Yes it's a lot of these players first game back together, but they've been playing Juve, PSG and City in America

Random comment: PSG fielded a team full of kids and they were very impressive tactically and technically.

I agree with you. We are trapped on the edge of our box most of the time. We get the ball and they are on top of us and the ball is lost again.

You came to this conclusion in preseason in a match with almost no first team players? Ok.
This team lacks belief, direction, courage, creativity and motivation. These are all attributed towards poor coaching. This will be Mourinhos last season because the fans and board will be at their limit at the end of this season.

I wonder what the excuse will be next when Pogba and Lukaku are back and we're no longer in pre-season and we still carry on playing this tumescent cowardly style of football.

I think he's done aright within context. The context being that we're constantly under pressure, hoofing it from the back and the other 2 CMs look even less composed.

Streams gone off and I can't even be arsed getting it back on

No one is placing the importance of winning this game, it's the fact that we are bad, we can't pass, are attacking play is non-existent. It's horrible to watch! We can say this because we are watching it.

Exactly. To make things worse the team was desperately parking the bus to draw this game, as if it was a UCL knock-out game. Well, it didn't work.

It’s not the results but some semblance of confidence and togetherness would be good. There’s no sign of a team. I know Mourinho would argue it’s not his full team but they are all his players and he coaches and picks them. He needs to take it back to basics, in tactics and in building team morale and an environment conducive to growth. There’s none of that evident this summer - much the opposite is coming out, a toxic club. Somethings gonna give soon unless he hits the ground running
I don't understand this. We've had fantastic pre seasons before and flopped massively when the season starts.
These games don't really signify anything. They may as well be forgotten as soon as they're finished IMO.
Aren't most games like these? You don't get great pre season games all that often for a reason.

Lindelof looks so much like Maguire from afar I had to run a quick check to see if we signed him while I was in church
If going to church resulted in United making a signing then I think many of us atheists would reconsider our position on the subject

You're right but I'm not talking about just one season

I mean if it's cumulative, then yeah Mata's scored more/assisted more for us, because he's simply played more for us.

But on average, it's not really close. Statically, Mata at Chelsea was far superior.

Just cleared 10 levels on Angry Birds without looking up at the TV once. Best my high score on one of them.

We're very far from the elite when they're with their main lineup it's not funny. We'll still do well in the league finishing 2nd/3rd but that's it. No PL or CL for several years coming.

Its Mourinho's preference of football, you know and not the quality of players. If Mourinho thinks his public moaning about not get to workhorses in wide areas is the reason for our failure narrative will hold any water then no one is buying it anymore.
