Preseason Tour Game 6: Bayern v Man Utd (Friendly, Sunday 05 August 19:15 BST)

Can someone tell me how Bayern in their FIRST game back look so much better than Man utd in closing down and sharpness?

What the hell does Mourinho do with the players? It's so pathetic that I feel sick. Closed the stream.

How does he explain what we see when every other manager in top of the top 3 leagues play energetic and entertaining football?

I can't wait until he leaves.
 
Jones, shaw, mctominay, fellaini, wingers playing full backs, centre backs can't stay fit. feck it, jose is genius finishing second with this squad

Every single one of the players out there except Andreas has played for their senior international team.

Maybe this 'tactic' is good enough to pick up the occasional flukey point against big teams (see Arsenal last season) but it's not good enough for a club with our ambitions. This is a parody of the worst of Jose.

To be fair, the scousers are always overly optimistic - 'next year is our year' etc.

Unfortunately this year they actually have a good reason to be optimistic.
 
What exactly are we playing as a formation right now? Is Jose trying to showcase all the defenders we have at the club, so we can lure Alderwiereld?
 
Not much to be optimistic about, truth be told. We show absolutely no promise going forward. When we do get the ball, we simply hoof it forward toward Rashford (and often nowhere near Rashford), who isn’t a good target man. Our right side of Darmian and Mata is laughable, and Shaw is his usual unimpressive self.

Too many of our players simply can’t do what Mourinho wants them to do. If the club wasn’t / isn’t prepared to make significant changes to the squad, then they never should have hired him to begin with. He’s too set in his ways to adapt his philosophy to the players he’s inherited. Three years in and Mourinho is still stuck with players he clearly doesn’t care for.
 
If you press us, we will crumble. Not a new thing, happened multiple times last season in games it shouldn’t have (Newcastle and Brighton away, for example). There is simply nothing left to fear for opponents when they face us. That was built over decades with Fergie, but it’s all but gone now.

You can buy whoever you want, but it won’t bring that back until we are able to strike fear into opponents with our style of play. That won’t happen any time soon.

The top reds will say Jose’s substitutes are a message to Ed to say we need more players lol.
 
Lindelof looks so much like Maguire from afar I had to run a quick check to see if we signed him while I was in church
 
I think this is how our season is going to pan out....dunno how much Lukaku and Pogba save us from the shambles we have as a team.

Yeah, our players are knackered. Just take a look at the amount of minutes the likes of Sanchez, Mata, Herrera and Peirera have racked up. It's not a hard one to figure out.
 
The problem here is the team has BOLD ZERO desire to be on the pitch, and the credit for that goes to our moaning coach

It’s not the results but some semblance of confidence and togetherness would be good. There’s no sign of a team. I know Mourinho would argue it’s not his full team but they are all his players and he coaches and picks them. He needs to take it back to basics, in tactics and in building team morale and an environment conducive to growth. There’s none of that evident this summer - much the opposite is coming out, a toxic club. Somethings gonna give soon unless he hits the ground running
 
We'd probably struggle to match this Bayern outfit with the first team playing well.
So half the players out, it's really no surprise.

He has no forwards on the bench. He's just giving some players a rest and some others some game time.
 
This is the first season since the Moyes one where I think we may be in genuine trouble. I hope we make top four but feck me, I really don't know. We were so lucky last season and second place really flattered us.

Attacking wise, we offer next to nothing. Spurs, Liverpool, City and Arsenal all will outscore us this season comfortably. Chelsea with Sarriball also may be one to watch out for.

I think it's pretty clear Liverpool and City will fight for the title but the other four will have a dogfight for CL places. Any one of the four could miss out.

At this point I’m convinced that McTominay has Jose’s nudes, and the threat of them leaking is what is getting him minutes in the side
