Preseason Tour Game 4: Man Utd v Liverpool (ICC, Saturday 28th July 22:05 BST)

Eh? How do you work that out? Not that I give a tiny rats arse like, because I don't, but I have to pull you on this whopper. What you said is like saying Wenger is better than Klopp because he's won more trophies.

What a stupid comparison to make. You used a manager who held on far too long whilst operating at a mediocre level but still won more trophies in his last few years than Klopp has for Liverpool and Dortmund. Why do you play down winning over style of play in your argument?

So you got proven wrong in biblical fashion and then decided to double down with an out and out lie about parking the bus against pool? We beat them comfortably and they did. It even get a shot on goal.

Worst post I have seen for a least 20 seconds.

We have ONLY ever parked the bus against pool with Mourinho.

Half of the comments on here are RAWK-worthy. Get a fecking grip. It's a pre season game with the majority of our starting first team missing. Not to mention the two penalties were extremely soft.

Would you celebrate with the amount of enthusiasm as you complain if it was us beating Liverpool in the same fashion? I really hope not. It means nothing.

No but thats not my point. I couldn't care less if they did the double over us as long as we win the league.

I just merely pointed out the fact that Liverpool whether we like to acknowledge it or not play significantly better and more entertaining football than us and have improved their squad, and therefore I think they'll challenge this season. I'm not confident that we will.

Well thats your opinion, I disagree with it wholeheartedly but its your opinion.

May go winless all of pre-season? I'm sure it'll just fire us up for the start of the season.

It's the one who's won more trophies you melt.
I love Jose you melt back but as a season ticket holder his football is painful to watch!

It's the one who's won more trophies you melt.

Look Mourinho is a trophy Whore, no question and this game means f....all in the grand scheme of things but you reap what you sow and when you come out with some of the comments Jose has recently about Squad depth, with clear negative vibes, he just making it so difficult.....FFS Jose just smile, your managing Man United one of the biggest clubs in the World, start looking like your enjoying it, rather than its a burden to manage one of the worlds greatest football clubs !!
Getme Melt!

It doesn't matter if there were players that aren't going to start for us. Liverpool didn't exactly have their best team in the period they took over in the game. Didn't Mane and Salah go off at half time? We still had some players that will get lots of games under Mourinho like Herrera, McTominay, Mata, Bailly etc.

Liverpool made many more changes than us and were fresher.

We probably had only 1 starter out there today, so i can forgive the team for losing 4-1. But we really can look like the dullest team on the planet sometimes

remember United winning 3-1 against Real madrid pre season and losing the first match of the season...

Yes friendlies pre-season are about marketing, players fitness, building ream morale and giving fringe players and youngsters a taste of the first team squad. We have had lots of youngsters heralded to be given chances in the past....that dotn happen, this year it is Periera who genuinely is good enough for the bench at least (especially considering the average players he has as competition).
All that being said and I hope its a case of being good it was now rather than being a sign of things to come when it matters.....some of the performances were the worst I have seen individually for a fair while. Only Grant, Pereira and Sanchez can come out with any credit at all, and all of those mainly for the first half. Some of our first team squad players were embarrassing.

Would love to get shot of Darmian, Rojo and Jones. Problem is, TFM and Tuanzebe look a bit dopey to play CB at the top level (yet). Need Alderweireld or another quality centre half to come in.

Mitchell needs a loan, pretty rubbish. Shame because there's definitely something there. McTominay was ok, he's just not particularly talented. Great goal from Pereira, rest of his game was ok too. Lee Grant looks a mad bastard which I like. Bailly was the big disappointment for me tonight though, had his moments of course but I really wanted him to marshal the other defenders and you could see when Grant went off he just wasn't capable.

Mata and Sanchez had quite a nice understanding going though. Bit more pace in the team and it might have been very interesting to watch.

Worst performance of the night goes to the ref. What a chump. Think he thought it was a basketball game.

The problem is if we have a go at the moaners then we get in trouble so its a no win situation.

Another run out. Two great goals out of 5 total, one by each side. United looked very gassed after 70 minutes. So many young players playing together and no understanding was always going to be a question. Late night on Wednesday with training and traveling, then many of the players having to play at least another hour today.

Interesting to see who will get a chance to be in the squad against Leicester.

Exactly. Jesus, catch on fella. You can't use trophies to determine who is the better manager right now. You can use them to say who's been the better manager over their respective careers, but not right now at this very moment. That is exactly the point I was making.

Sound post. The only one I see who has gained on this tour thus far is Periera. Sanchez is getting a good work out too.

In that case Emery is the master of the world

You make valid points and i agree. I uphold any criticism until we have all the players available including Pogba and Lukaku. If anything this game doesnt really give new insights, i mean, the act that this team gives away chances easily isnt new is it? If there was any desire to strenghten the defense this game could put that desire into a higher gear.

What does RAWK-worthy mean these days? Has it changed, because back when I had the time and energy to troll on rivals forums RAWK was noted for its suppression of dissent and criticism. Everything about Liverpool was amazing and covered in sickly over emotional assertions.

I know it’s Liverpool, but the scoreline doesn’t matter. Bit more worried about how poor we played in general, Pereira was easily our best player. There just seems to be a lack of patterns within the team, Sanchez looks sharp but had no real support and spent a lot of time just chasing lost causes.

Weird that it was basically Pools youth team that took control of the game and did the damage.

Ignore button probably getting worked overtime on the site right now

Listen I don't give a shit about the result, but I also don't worship the ground Jose walks on. I hope to feck he can show something different this season and inject some much needed life into this team.

2 soft penalties again for Liverpool. they really are diving cnuts. Even in friendlies.

I agree with 2 soft penalties. The Robertson seemed to trip on his own legs but maybe there was a contact. The players went down a bit easy IMO too even though I support them.
Well take away those 2 penalties the score line is 2-1. Two superb goals from boths but apart from the freekick United offered zero going forward. The last 20 mins were interesting as United and Liverpool both had teenagers on the pitch mostly. But still Liverpool looked confortably in control all over the pitch. Chong made an impression though. He is a keeper and was your top player once he came on.

Is that the excuse now? Do we need to have 5forwards or so to show attacking intent? The whole team should be able to push forward in unison regardless of the number of forwards in play.

This is just poor of Jose,he ought to be doing better. Preseason is there for a reason, to try new things and implement ideas, not just continue where you left off last season.

Although you are right, I mean with 5 striking options, makes little difference if the style of football isnt creatign chances.

I do think we could do with another striker though. Martial hasnt been given the opportunities up front and coudl be off and Rashford seems better from the left, cant trust him up front, judging from his performances last year. at least, his finishing and know how isnt there yet, if it ever will be.
Even without injuries would you trust Lukaku as the one striker for a whole season, as lets face it regardless of opinions of him as a striker, there is no doubt he does have quite a few awful games. Somebody to keep him on his toes and replace him when he is having one of his abysmal games would be a good thing for me.

The problem is if we have a go at the moaners then we get in trouble so its a no win situation.

Tell me about it. You literally pointed out a fact to counter the complete lie spouted by them which apparently is not allowed. When they do it’s an “opinion” but when you mention a fact like who was actually missing you will get a warning.

Sound post. The only one I see who has gained on this tour thus far is Periera. Sanchez is getting a good work out too.

Periera has done himself very, very well so far. Sanchez looks fresh and up for it, his quick turns are really good to see as I didn't notice that too much last season after he was transferred. The central midfield has been stretched too far already in terms of fitness, so they're are just sucking wind.

Relax lads, it's just a meaningless preseason game.
Against any other team yes, but whenever you play Liverpool it's more than just a friendly. It's pride and banter. After this, we are the laughing stock until we play again.
