Premier League May 3-5

If you offered me this positional 'pain' back in the summer I would have torn your arm off and given you my grandmother (for Rooney like).

We've scored 4+ goals 11 times this year. We usually went into 2nd gear in those games. It's definitely possible we stick 7 or 8 past Newcastle.
City can definitely smash their opponents as well.

This is getting borderline delusional now.

Firstly, you're banking on City not battering either of Villa or West Ham, which is entirely feasible given that neither have anything to play for.

Secondly, when Liverpool have scored 4+, they've generally conceded too. Out of the 11 games in which they've scored 4+, they've only kept 3 clean sheets. In fact, in these games, they've conceded 3 just as often as they've kept the opposition out.

If it's to come to goal difference, realistically, Liverpool are going to need to overturn a difference of 12-15 goals in their remaining two games. Their best hope is City bottling it and dropping points, which I'd say is more realistic than Liverpool beating Newcastle by 8.

Don't spoil it. Let him believe. It'll be all the more hilarious when Palace beat them on Monday anyway.

Adebayor and Paulinho were complete disgraces for that 2nd goal today.
Well Adebayor obviously used the AVB sacking to get his arsehole in gear and get himself an extension since his City top-up runs out in June. Clearly Levy wasn't going to do that since he'll have sussed that once Ade's got a fat wedge he doesn't break sweat. Spurs fans seem to think that Paulinho clocked off in Feb ahead of the world cup.

Had I told you we would challenge for the league you'd have called me delusional too. Let's see what happens. ;)

I'm glad for that mini spurt of Adebayor form this calender year, will hopefully make it a bit easier for us to convince some Eastern European team to part with some money for Adebayor (the major problem is finding a team willing to take on his full wages).

I agree about the Paulinho clocking off comment which I can't say has particularly endeared him to me, regardless of how good a player he may be for the Brazilian NT/ us next season when he doesn't have a home WC to think about.

The looks Rose and Sigurdsson were giving those 2.....

Liverpool were punching above their weight all season. Unless there is significant squad investment they wont mount a challenge like this whilst competing in CL next season

Bold prediction or more hope?

So far everyone on this forum were saying we deserved to be in our position, it wasn't a fluke. Can't move goalposts.

Yep. Imagine going into the Newcastle game needing to score 5 + whatever City score. Newcastle are shit and we've put 5 and 6 past teams this season before only to go into third gear. Score. Pick the goal out of the net. Back to the circle. Repeat.

Fast starts are going to be absolutely crucial.

Thanks for saving us the trouble to go to RAWK to read deluded posts. If Liverpool win the title it will be on points, that is City will need to drop points. Can you do even basic math? Even let's say you win 5-0 both games(very difficult to do at Palace) City need to win both games just 1-0. Are you telling me that the team which has scored 150 goals in this season won't score at least 2 against two teams who are in bottom half and have nothing to play for? Add to that their bad defenses. You should better hope that Villa and West Ham get points at Etihad than boring us with this deluded crap. 4+ goals and 2nd gear my arse.

Just circumstances really. Uniteds horrible season, no midweek games, hardly any injuries at all. All on top of some magnificent performances true but c'mon that squad without investment cant handle a european campaign and compete for the title again.

Had I told you we would challenge for the league you'd have called me delusional too. Let's see what happens. ;)

There's a difference between predicting results across a whole season, based on nothing more than speculation, and predicting that Liverpool won't win their last two games by a margin of 12-15 goals, based on what they've done throughout the season.

You'd have called people deluded had we said we would win the league wouldn't you? Yeah, I can do math thanks. I didn't say we'd win 5-0, you did so I don't know why you'd question my abilities to add. Most teams that score 4 or 5 goals go into second gear after going 3 or 4 up.

Linking it with start of season is completely irrelevant argument. Oh, you didn't say you will win 5-0?...Hmmmm, ya, my mistake...What is will be like then in top gear? 20-0?

It is extreme wishful thinking, teetering on delusion though. I don't need to explain why, as Alex has summed it up well enough, but Liverpool overturning fifteen goals in their favour - which is a very feasible scenario - is never going to happen.

And while Liverpool could easily give Palace a hiding, you are severely under-estimating them if you think it's a given. Coming off the back of a routine defeat to City is even worse for City given Pulis' mentality and history as a manager. It''ll probably be a difficult game and I'll categorically state now, you won't beat them by more than two goals on Monday.

 Ben Arfa watched todays game from a box near me this afternoon. He was on the pitch for the lap of (di s)honour after the match. Pardew wasn't.

I think Liverpool have been fantastic this season, and if you were any other team apart from Liverpool, I'd be rooting all the way for you to win the league.

But as for next season, you'll need significant investment in the squad to compete at this level in the league again and compete in the CL.

The Times and the Echo (the two most reliable papers for Liverpool and Everton news) are saying 5 or 6 players will be signed along with some loaned out players returning.

That would cover it then. Lets just hope its 5 or 6 Aspas like signings ;)
