Premier League matchweek 2 (august 19th-21th)

Gerrard is just an irritant on BT Sport.

He makes assessments and assertions that only a player with title-winning credentials should be making.

He can preside over what it takes to be a Premier League midfielder. That's it. Anything else should be left to those who've actually been victorious in this league.

I thought that earlier. What does he know about winning the PL?

If he wants to tell me what a midfielder should be doing better, that's fine by me.

It's also fine for him to be critical, that's his job, but he shouldn't be doing so with a 'been there, done that' kinda attitude. Because he hasn't.

So, do you lot want Chelsea to lose tomorrow or are you more worried about Spurs challenging?

A repeat of the handbags match you had would be ideal. But if I had to choose I would pick a Chelsea win because I think there is some disharmony within the Chelsea squad that will play out during the season, also there is Glaston.

Want Chelsea to win so Glaston spurs stays quiet for a change:D

Cheers. I have always been unclear on the exact rule. It used to be that there should be 'air' between the players for it be offside and then to give the advantage to the attacker. I prefer the black and white interpretation.
You can be offside if any part of your body that you can use to score a goal is closer to your opponents goal than the 2nd last defender. (If only your hand/arm is in front of the defender, you can't be offside as you can't score a goal with the hand/arm)

There's obviously other parts to the offside law but that's the bit in question

Worried about Tottenham...

If Tottenham finish above us it just means we've underperformed. Chelsea are the bigger threat even with the potential problems bubbling up under the surface.

There were moments in this game when I asked myself if Arsenal had not taken a page from Guardiola.

They do not tackle. Maybe they do not train for it.

Nope. We want a full-on meltdown at Chelsea. Conte will be gone by Christmas. Spurs won't amount to anything anyway. No fear of them come May.

Exactly. Might be premature and presumptive but I'd easily see Chelsea as a bigger threat to our ambitions this season than Spurs. Any of the big sides vs Chelsea or City I'm going to hope Chelsea or City lose until the table convinces me to think otherwise.

I prefer Chelsea to lose. They'll enter a dilemma after it that they may not ( well won't say "mayn't" again  ) get out of it through the season.

Typical delusional scouser.

Today I watched the second half ot Bournemouth vs Watford, must say Watford was much better and totally deserved to win, better club for Marco to work, because they have the great scouting network of Udinese.

Everybody talks about Chalobah, rightly so, Will Hughes will struggle to be a starter on that midfield combination between Chalobah, Doucouré and Cleverley.

But for me the most important signings they made imo were Femenia, former Alavés player, real upgrade on Janmaat, and Richarlison, clearly after Jesus the best brasilian youth prospect, if they do not have serious injuries during the season they will be safe and play better football.

About Mou, nothing surprising, for me the fight this season will be United vs City, maybe Spurs can say something, doubtfull about Chelsea if they lose tomorrow, Liverpool with the current squad the best they can do is fight for third or fourth, and finally Arsenal, for me 4 words about them: Arsene Wenger defensive organization.

By the way, if there is a MVP award for worst manager it must go to Bilic.

He really is awfull, if I laugh at Wenger defensive organization, Bilic doesn't even know what organization means, last season his matches against Guardiola were the easiest City had, he is ruining a lot of individual players, it will not take much time for Chicharito to fall into mediocrity under him, West Ham needs to get rid of him ASAP.

Oh, Joe Hart, really? I know Bravo was awfull last season, but does anyone believe City would win last season with him?

Pickford has to be the future number 1 for England, enough said.

Hope Tottenham smash Chelsea tomorrow. Can't wait for a total meltdown at the Bridge and still furious at that toupee wearing wanker going batshit crazy celebrating the fourth goal against us last season.

Tottenham will always be Tottenham so nothing to worry about on that front.

Real problem was the tackle, you really are a genial coach tbh.

Stoke fans loved it.
