Premier League Matchday 4 (Sep 9-11)

"Eyes on the ball" says Neville. Yeah but his studs were in the guys face.
It's absolutely bizarre the excuses people will make up. This isn't even about if Mane meant to hurt him. Players get sent off all the time for being clumsy and this is no different.

I'm glad this was done. Not sending him off would be ridiculous.

Nani wasnt looking at the player. Mane knew the keeper was coming for the ball.
There was no force either with Nani either. It was a high ball.
This is different.

This is far worse.. a lot more dangerous. A red for dangerous play is totally justified.

This is a clear red.

No, it's basically the same. Nani wasn't a red, neither in Mane.

Knew I shouldnt have made Mane captain on my fantasy league team.

Is it just me or does Nebille talk more shite than usual recently.

People think you have to act maliciously to get a red now a days? Get a grip, its a red even in a sunday leauge match.

Actually looking at the replay that's a red card. Mane's foot shouldn't be that high. Ederson is badly hurt here hope he's okay.

It's the same as the Nani one against Rreal Madrid a few years back, eyes only on the ball but at the end of the day he's kicked someone with a high boot.

What the bloody feck is Gary Neville on about? Mane's studs were inches off Ederson's head. Jesus wept. Clearest red you'll see the whole season.
He pisses me off big time Neville. Every league in the world it is a red card followed by the huge ban potentially.

Neville embarrassing himself here.

The ball was head height and Mane raised his foot connecting with his head The keeper didnt lower his head to connect with Mane's foot

If Anderson will miss weeks due to this injury, Mane should be banned for at least the same weeks.

OK I initially said never a red card but I've had to make a U turn after seeing the replay again.

If a stud up challenge to the legs is a straight red, how the feck is one to the skull not a red? What the actual feck is Gary Neville and the commentating team on about?!

It's the same as the Nani one against Rreal Madrid a few years back, eyes only on the ball but at the end of the day he's kicked someone with a high boot.

Nope, it's not the same really. Look at the height of Mane's foot here and at Nani's. Nani wasn't nowhere near his oppo's face.

Nearly took his head off!!

He did but if he gets there a fraction of a second earlier, Ederson clatters him and sees red for City instead.

When both players committed to winning that ball, neither knew who would get there first.

Red cards like this will just result in players not committing to 50/50 balls in future.

It's the correct call but it's a shame.

At least with Bravo on both teams are now down to 10 men

Clear red. Clear as day. Foot super high and caught him in the face/neck. Didn't set out to hurt the guy, but that's neither here nor there.

Exactly. People don't seem to understand this.

The rules are pretty clear on dangerous play.

If you raise your foot above waist height when another player is that close anywhere in the world it's a foul. When you actually make contact it's at least a yellow and you can't complain if it's red.

It doesn't matter if his eyes were on the ball, it's dangerous play. not only his leg was high, but he jumped as well. the keeper was an outfield palyer in that position. surely Mane knew that the keeper would got at it with his head first.

How is it a 50/50. One is two feet of the ground with one leg studs up while the other is going at it with his head. Ridiculous from neville and henry.

They want referees to use commom sense around the decisions yet when they do they crucifuly them. Pundits just making it more difficult

All you need to do is look at that picture to know it is 100% red. Accident or not, it's very dangerous play.
