Premier League Matchday 21 (January 1-3)

They have a squad that otherwise would struggle to make the top half of the Championship. Just keeping them up is a huge achievement.

Huh? They're not great but they would have the strongest squad in the championship, they did when they won the division.

Lascelles, Atsu, Schar, Ritchie, Diame, Rondon, Shelvey, Kenedy etc are decent players who would get in to most teams in the championship.

Wondering about that foul from Deeney. If someone didn't see it, it's basically his blatant and cynical pulling of Bournemouth player, but refs plays advantage, and then Deeney takes him out from behind with another challenge. Got a yellow.

But is there any precedent where he'd receive two yellows, one for each challenge? Ever happened? Those were two yellow worthy fouls btw.

When was the last time Troy "cojonee" Deeney scored 2 times in one game?

Think it might have been Palace away last season? I can't remember another time since then, he's not exactly the most prolific though can be a handful.

Except for Lascelles and maybe Shelvey you've literally just listed a bunch of mid Championship level players. No better than what Aston Villa have, for example.

Morata given offside. Looks on to me.

Third incorrectly disallowed goal in a week for us. Premier league worst referees in the world? VAR?

Agree to disagree I guess, the likes of Rondon and Ritchie in particular have proven they've very capable of having reasonable premier league seasons. Not great players by any means, but I think overall their squad would be the favourite to win the championship regardless of manager.

We need VAR but officials in other countries are just as bad, if not worse.

Why doesn’t Cesc play more? He’s bloody brilliant, always will be. Miles more creative than De Bruyne, Silva or Özil for me.

They saw it was Morata and assumed he was offside.
They'd be right 99 other times, this is just the outlier.

This'll be some point for Southampton if they can hold onto it.

Ole's honeymoon carries on.. until they meet Spurs and it dawns on their players the fans will want them to lose that match.

United can definitely make top four. Chelsea and Arsenal are nothing teams.

Cracking result for Southampton. Hassenhuttl made about 5 changes to his team. And Angus Gunn on his PL debut gets a clean sheet

Southampton will be o.k I suspect. No idea on the two teams who'll join Huddersfield in getting relegated. They are all picking up points at long last.

Hazard spent the whole second half in hero mode, wasted so many good opportunities. He just doesn't trust Morata at all.

On the whole, chelsea have too many players who try to do too much, and a couple who failed at everything they tried...

PL refs are special btw. How exactly is shelvey still on the pitch :wenger:
