Premier League Matchday 21 (January 1-3)

Good to see Spurs fans on here, disappeared after last match. I wonder why

Yet another dreadful looking offside call. Quelle surprise.

Easier for Spurs to come back from defeat against Wolves when playing a side as poor defensively as Cardiff. Far too many no contest games in the premier league these days.

Son is without a doubt the best shit player in the prem.

Or something.
I'm not sure what you mean but I kinda get it. He can appear so bloody clumsy at times and can be incredibly wasteful however his finishing and pace with either foot are second to none.

That’s a bit of a strange statement, surely every top side has the same amount of *no contest* games, why would Spurs have more?

Surely they would’ve beaten Wolves if their mentality was better?

You simply can't win every game. They've done very well to keep pace with top 2 considering they didn't refresh the squad and played many away games. (Wembley is hardly a huge benefit to them since the cut in capacity aswell).

Don’t feed them, we are out numbered and out gunned :nono: :D.
Isn't it a valid criticism though? Spurs have been blowing away teams and to lose 3-1 at home to Wolves which also happens to be the first time when you're in a "title race" position, questions about mentality are bound to be asked.

Not sure what his work rate is like but Josh Murphy is being wasted at Cardiff. He'd do well at a team like Wolves or Bournemouth.

Meant for the league, not Spurs. League is getting more polarised. Boring watching hammerings without a real contest.

I don’t see how you can bottle something you never had, or bottle something half way through a season. We bottled Juve last season and Chelsea il agree but I don’t see it against Wolves.

Don't really know what I mean, it's hard to explain.

He is clearly a top-drawer footballer but completely awful at the same time which is an impressive achievement.

We've been blowing away crap teams. Even Everton played directly in to our hands.

Wolves played the game well .. stayed in it till the last 20 or so, grabbed a goal off a set piece and our players were clearly fatigued after a very busy period, so they took advantage. We're not as good as people make us out to be, Arsenal beat us 4-2 and we needed a goal in the final minutes at home to beat a terrible Burnley. We're not unbeatable, if a team turns up and puts in a real shift and is tactically aware we can struggle, teams like Bournemouth and Everton were naive and poor, so got destroyed.

Like I keep saying, we are a top 4 side who go on good runs and then get billed as a title challenger. When we inevitably fall short of that we're bottle jobs.

Happens in most leagues though, it’s the problem with the reasouce difference being at its highest ever in football. Do you not think some clubs say “we’re fed up of football clubs buying titles/trophies”.

City and Liverpool are playing on Thursday. If you'd won against Wolves you would've gained some points on at least one of those teams.

I usually get slammed for this opinion but I think that Kane is the best pure #9 in the world right now.

Really? I think it's a very commonly held view now that Kane is the best out and out striker in the world. It's certainly not unarguable, but I don't see how you could say it's a ridiculous opinion, who exactly is meant to be much better than him in that role?

But there is almost half a season left? I mean say Liverpool lose a game against a mid table team have they bottled it? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Yeah, I can see that. I suppose it comes down to how one defines title race.

On a United forum you're bound to get more grief over not closing the gap on the league leaders when those leaders are Liverpool. You could have closed their lead to 2 points but instead they ended up with a 5 point lead. 2 sets of fans were very disappointed at that Wolves loss!

B

Because there hasn't been a match to talk about in-between perhaps?

As if that has stopped Spurs fans from posting in number of threads before.

What? I’ve been here as have many other Spurs fans, some folk talk a lot of shit.

Did not see same amount of activity in Spurs related thread after Wolves defeat, stop being so precious. You're on an opposition forum.

Fair enough.

It's still not bottling it though is it. It was just a really poor result. It happens. If spurs were going into the last match of the season, needing just a draw to win the title and lose, that's then bottling it.

I’d wager there are a lot more Utd fans back on the caf since Jose fecked off

Mood is better for sure but this place was a constant cesspool of negativity in all the forums.

5 - Aguero
4 - Suarez
3 - Lewa
2 - Ronaldo
1 - Kane

??

Bloody hell, there are so many shit teams in this league. Hopeless cannon fodder to pad your stats against.

If we keep our point per game up we'll finish 4th on 82 points. Enough for the title in 15/16. League far less competitive since then. Way easier for top teams to win points. Spurs showing it today.

Top 6 all improved a lot and bottom 14 regressed. All bottom 14 finished with negative gd last season. Burnley 7th scoring less than a goal a game, canary in the coal mine.

Var needed as well. Only Cardiff chance given offside incorrectly... Quelle surprise. Every single match in the premier league I watch. Officials are dreadful.

How am I precious? Your statement wasn’t correct, I called you on it.

I'm with you! I think he is. The usual response is Aguero (still excellent but not better anymore imo) Aubameyang (nope), Messi (not a 9), dybala (not a pure 9 and i would still take Kane), Lewa (not anymore), etc. A lot of it comes down to personal opinion but I think Kane has demonstrated that if he isn't the best yet, he at least deserves a solid mention.

So why laugh at Spurs fans?

I’ll bet you weren’t posting nearly as much during the JM era

Cardiff are fecking terrible. Maybe we have just been beating shit teams... :(

They've actually improved a fair bit in last two months. Won their home games against other relegation teams (Fulham, Southampton) and taken excellent four points from Palace and Leicester away without conceding a goal.

Sean Morrison and Bamba are hopeless against any sort of good striker though which Palace don't have (Leicester took Vardy off after an hour).

Think the difference now is the top 6 just have so many good quality forward players they can blow the bottom half away on their own. See Arsenal and all their wins despite their general play not being convincing.

I'm not sure it's even true. I was posting plenty, I definitely saw @InLevyITrust and @balaks making posts too .. there aren't THAT many of us on here.

But yeah, when everyone is just calling you shite and bottlers, it's kinda difficult to contribute to that.

The top teams hardly drop points in these games which is how we've got ourselves in such a poor position.

It wouldn't surprise me if we give Newcastle their first point(s) against the top 6.
