Premier League Matchday 21 (January 1-3)

See this is Cardiff trying to defend against pace and movement....

Samba and Morrison are toilet players.

Harry Arter is not good enough for the PL.

Depressing. State of Cardiff

Cardiff need a miracle to get anything out of this. Feels like Spurs will score every attack.

That pass by Kane, initially, leading up to the goal exemplified his value even in a footballing sense. Right weight, right choice, right time. Awesome instincts.

Spurs are so clinical. And good to watch too. Thankfully they can't get enough points off top 6-8 clubs or this title race would be unnecessarily competitive.

Spurs win “pressure is off” and if spurs lose “they are bottlers”. Do you guys ever rest?

It's so boring. The pressure was never even on, we were clearly big underdogs. People acting like we'd gone top of the league.

Our loss had nothing to do with bottling, and a lot to do with fatigue setting in during the second half and the goal from a set piece coming at a crucial time. Lots of credit due to Wolves as well who pressed brilliantly and were extremely clinical.

Also Wolves are hardly fodder.

Presumably there will come a point when Spurs "bottle it" when the "pressure is off", then heads will explode in confusion.

Yeah, they're a good side who have taken points off other top sides this season already. People just like building us up as something we're not (title challengers) and then claiming it's a bottle when shock horror, we prove we're not good enough to be title challengers. We're a top 4 side, nothing less or more. On our day we can beat anybody and we'll have games/runs where we look fantastic but we would need that extra bit of investment to get to the next level, like Liverpool bringing in VVD/Alisson etc.

This is actually difference in Spurs compared to previous seasons.

Before they'd lose a game and then go winless for 3-4. This season they lose and then respond with 4-5 wins which is exactly what Man. United would go under SAF.

Their mentality much better now.

Kinda annoying how once the pressure if off a bit they perform well
Not really pressure, just poor in game management from Poch.
No need to chase all those those goals v Everton and Bournemouth over the Christmas period, in England, with a small, injury hit squad.
No wonder they ran out of legs

Surely they would’ve beaten Wolves if their mentality was better?

Always the way with Spurs. When there's little riding on it they are great. Nothing yet to suggest they can play when its squeaky bum time though. Would we be seeing this if they were a few points off first or, as always, would they be choking under the spotlight?

Probably but it was a long winning run, wot of games and Wolves have been a problem for other sides. Football isn’t just that black and white. Chances are Liverpool will have a sticky patch at some point, it’s just the nature of football.

This is what happens when you don't sack Neil Warnock as soon as he gets you promoted.

How the hell are Cardiff not rooted to the bottom of the PL? Are there really 3 other teams worse than them? :wenger:

Oles ringing around at 30 mins. Spurs aren't even in third gear yet.
