Premier League Gameweek 6

Do we think part of it is ETH being too meek? Couldn't stand Klopp but he'd really go after the referees after a decision aggrieved him, and now they get a tonne of decisions

I think status of the club also has something to do with it and unfortunately we aren't currently seen as one
yes

Can’t be doing with Liverpool winning all the time. Thought they’d drop off under Klopp. I guess they have top forwards. Very long way to go, that Forest game gives me hope.

Do those Wolves players think they’ve lost a cup final? It’s 6 games in.

After Palace next week we have a nasty run of league games.

Chelsea (h), Arsenal (a) then Brighton and Villa.

No top team that good today. It might be a more open season than I thought

Yeah it’s been a fairly easy start, played United at the perfect time before our sensational 2nd half of the season charge under Ole.

You guys I thought were very good, Poor 1st goal to concede, nothing you could do about the second. And only for the goalkeeper having a worldie you'd have scored 6 or 7. I've given you a lot of shit for how you've played this season so credit where its due today. I know you left it late buy you deserved to win by 3+ goals.

City and Liverpool relatively poor.

Do you honestly think many of our players would get in the starting lineups of the other 4?
Our midfield is Ok, with Bruno on it. It's our front three that are trash, comparable to bottom half teams.

Bar City, you replace those team's midfield with ours, they're most likely won't suffer much. You replace those teams front three with ours, they're most likely in our position.

Odegaard didn't play in last three Arsenal's PL games, and it looks like they don't suffer much.

Not many people are as good as KdB, he's easily as good as Odegaard.
I keep hearing this and I don't get it. Maybe nostalgia of his first season and a half with us. Since then Bruno has been nowhere near as good for us as Odegaard has been for Arsenal...

Those games will show what Slot is made of. If you get good results you’ll definitely be title contenders.
I don't agree with this. We'd have won two EPL titles and two EPL runners up in the past 11 years but for City's cheating.
Fair.

Nah. I’d disagree.

If we're ranking the attacking 8s/10's its Palmer, KDB, Odegaard ahead of Bruno for certain. I'd say clearly 4th best though also it really stings putting Palmer first.

If Chelsea and Brighton defend like today, you'll win both comfortably. The Emirates will be the real test of if you're contenders or not. If you win the next 2 and get something there I think you'll win the league

He ended last season in better form, Odergaard has been very ordinary this season when not injured.

That would smash the record for fastest league win. So they've definitely got that to aim for.

Bruno is easily better than Odegaard. KDB and Palmer are better comparisons.

De Bruyne is on a different planet to Odegaard.

They are quite closely matched actually, last season Odegaard got 8 goals and 10 assists in 35 league apps while Bruno got 10 goals and 8 assists in 35 league apps.
How many penalties each one scored? Just for stats sake.

It's a bit like you lot preferring end stage Gerrard over the better midfielders in the league back then.
Bruno is far more like end stage Gerrard than Odegaard.

Bruno is capable of match-turning moments of brilliance. The thing is, all the top AM / 10s in the league are. And many of them are far better at looking after the ball than Bruno.

If Bruno had the attackers to pass to that Odegaard has he wouldnt give it away so much.

That's not true at all. Odegaard is a possession player.

Fantastic dribbling and control in tights spaces. Good decision making etc.

He makes arsenal tick. Which is the opposite of Bruno who pretty much destroys good possession.

Let's just forget stats for the moment. How would you compare Bruno and Odegaard's general play?

For me Odegaard is an intelligent, intricate played who picks up great positions, great quick passer, puts some lovely balls through, everything seems to go through him.

With Bruno, I see a player who's tactically naive, plays too far forward without influencing the midfield, gives the ball away far too easy. Goes down too much, moaning at his teammates and missing easy chances.

Umm that's exactly what I mean as well

Think what sets Odegaard apart from a lot of the comparison players is his awareness both with and without the ball. He knows where he needs to be... knows where and when to press, where to cover a lane, where to be available to receive the pass etc..

I think it’s impossible to properly judge after seeing them play under Ten Hag for the last couple years. At no point has he got us playing consistently cohesive, flowing football. We usually look less than the sum of our parts under him whereas other managers have similar or inferior squads looking like more than the sum of their parts.

So I can I absolutely imagine a scenario where the likes of Rashford, Garnacho, Fernandes, Mainoo, Amad would be looking like world beaters playing under a different manager in a different system, whereas rival top four players who are thriving right now could be struggling and misfiring and looking inconsistent under Ten Hag.

Do you honestly think Ten Hag is currently maximizing the potential of our players? Do you think what we’re seeing now is the very limits of their ability?
