Premier League Gameweek 3

The PL wants to avoid at all costs having the ref checking a monitor so i doubt it. But the VAR team should display a clear message for everyone to see as soon as the decision is made.
I think it was the right decision in the end, did you see how clueless the ref was when it happened, he had no idea what to call, he didn't really allow the goal, he was just floating about hoping VAR would save him.
Yeah to be honest I don't like the ref running to the sidelines to check the monitor. It takes up a lot of time which can be frustrating. Prefer the PL model.

Bojan Djordic calling out Lingard and on swedish telly, rightly so.

Can’t believe how much of a free pass Lampard is getting, scraping a win against a newly promoted team and they’re gushing.

If that was Ole’s United the headlines would be “United scrape a win against newly promoted Norwich, a much needed win but plenty of question marks remain” The BBC are so shite.

Chelsea will end up quite adrift of the top 4. One or two exciting players going forward but absolute dross at the back.

Glad that crouch / Cole completely agree against all the VAR decisions they got wrong.

Can’t believe how stupid peter Walton made himself look trying to defend VAR and the ref

"It's a new phase of play because the ball went backwards" was my particular highlight of trying to justify a bad decision.

I like this Norwich manager.
Looks like a guy who likes to smell his farts and not in a pretentious way either

But yeah, his team plays some nice football

He's a media darling and he is English. Every interviewer is very kind to him

Those VAR decisions, 4 of them went all against Chelsea where there is an argument that all 4 were wrong. You could understand maybe from 4 decisions you'll get 2 for Norwich 2 for Chelsea, but all 4 is too much, that was a very poor VAR performance.

Needed win and good goals for Abraham and Mount. We're incredibly open though. Going to be entertaining this season that's for sure.
I'm critical of the way we defend but i thought we defended reasonably well today.

Goals aside Norwich had one big chance after Pukki scored and hitting the bar from a corner but aside from that they did very little, they created more openings at Anfield.

Tammy got fouled in the build up to one of their goals. He said it was a foul but not disallowed by VAR because in the resulting play, a Norwich player passed the ball backwards about 2 meters.

Would this be the same media that started wanking off Maguire and slating Tammy after one game and kept banging on about Matic everytime Chelsea dropped points/United won for over a year?

That's it let it all out

Surely a foul is a foul?

Apparently VAR would only step in if the foul happens in the same "attacking phase"

And new phase of play involves change of possession

He did say "attacking phase" to be fair. Still seems dumb. Lots of attacks in football involve the ball being passed backwards a bit.

For the Norwich first goal I think it was about 9 seconds from the foul to the goal, it was definitely the same phase of play. Not really annoyed about it though

Was a Chinese game a couple months ago; think it was Mascherano who committed the foul. Was a foul on the halfway line about 90 seconds before a goal was scored and they took it back and disallowed it for the foul. Interpretation of var across the various leagues is ridiculous (both scenarios used it wrongly).

They had a chance in 33rd minute as well on the rebound. It is Norwich though, who are essentially a championship team. Granted we were better than in other league games defensively. No Kante not helping.

It's easier for us to play high / attacking against a weaker team like this. Bit concerned when we play teams more clinical on the counter.

We're not balanced, could see it in pre season and still now.

That's the same thing

Don't remember that, no.

Wow 1-0 Palace somehow. Lindelof beaten too easily.

That really should have been a red for cahill
