Premier League Gameweek 3

Why are they letting clowns like mariner be In charge of VAR? They should have independent people reviewing it.

No foul on Krull. Shoulda involve VAR (why wasn't it anyway?).
Well apparently they did and it's VAR that disallowed the goal. But as usual they are doing the poorest job of communicating what actually happened.

I am inclined to agree, people who are not friends of the referees involved. Also some of the referees operating VAR are incompetent themselves.

That is the point, they need to communicate what is happening to the fans. It is like some sort of secret society.

City vs Tottenham, guy in front of monitor didnt want to correct wrong decision of best referee in the land (lol) and he didnt even watch a bloody thing. Today Marriner didnt correct his buddy.

Funny how they cant do this shit so obv. when rule is more clear cut (regardless of how dumb the rule is) but push more on subjective side and they so far covering their brothers.

Oh and this is a guy operating VAR on Norwich game.

They're doing just that in the Eredivisie this season. Ref communicates (reasoning behind) his decision via stadium speaker after watching the video at the sidelines (I believe). Probably will be adopted by the other leagues if it works well.

Needed win and good goals for Abraham and Mount. We're incredibly open though. Going to be entertaining this season that's for sure.

That would be good.

Norwich will finish top 10 this season, they're a very fecking good side. Pukki is a top striker, I like him a lot.

That threatened to be a Chris Foy level stitch up, thankfully we got it done. We were miles better second half, created enough for more goals.

VAR can do one, all my fears summed up in one game.

The PL wants to avoid at all costs having the ref checking a monitor so i doubt it. But the VAR team should display a clear message for everyone to see as soon as the decision is made.
I think it was the right decision in the end, did you see how clueless the ref was when it happened, he had no idea what to call, he didn't really allow the goal, he was just floating about hoping VAR would save him.

They both jumped for the ball fairly, goalie caught it then dropped it. I don't think there was a foul.

He touched him for sure but touching another player is not a foul.
Barging into the keeper in the small box is a foul. Barging into the keeper in general is a foul, but in the small box it's automatic

Mason Mount is going to be a hell of a player.

In the UK they see those fouls on the keeper very differently. There isn’t actually any rule that says the keeper has more protection inside the small box although I know refs here in Portugal and other countries apply it regardless

Sure, depends on what you consider a "barge" though. If two players go for a high ball, they're going to clash on the way down without a foul being committed.

Having said that, I fully expected the goal to be disallowed (I thought it had been instantly) as goalies are more protected than white rhinos.

There isn't? Thought it was. Always heard it explained that if you touch the keeper in the small box, unless you have position and either don't move or jump straight up vertically, it's automatically a foul
