Premier League Gameweek 24 (20th - 22nd Jan 2018)

Like they say football is a funny old game. Couple of days ago I wanted Burnley to beat you and felt confident of beating Swansea.
Now after a weeks rest and planning we couldn't even manage that, and now I want Man Utd to go and beat Spurs. Can't believe I just said that out loud.

Liverpool really missed Coutinho today. He was amazing at unlocking these 'smaller' teams and would often belt in a long ranger into the top corner out of nowhere.

Today they had players like Can trying to do that role

Also, love how "Virgil" was trying to play like a prime Scholes chipping balls into the box, with none of the accuracy.

And for all of Klopp's heavy metal gegenpressing football, they resorted to sticking VVD up front at the end and hoofing long balls to him.

Never change, Liverpool.

What has happened to Klopp? He wasn’t running around like a fecking lunatic today

Edit: are we sure he’s ok?

Not surprised to see Liverpool drop points. They just hate playing the smallest teams.

Parking the bus is one of Carvalhal's specialty. I remember his teams coming to our stadium and if we didn't score early, they were hard to break.

I fecking called it last week saying Liverpool would drop points to Swansea this week after beating City.

Can I please for the love of god get my banner removed??

I wonder if United deliberately did the Sanchez announcement tonight 2 hours before kickoff to rattle the Liverpool players. Grade A mind games.

...although in reality I reckon they didn't and Liverpool have just played awful.

I wonder whether they send Can and Wijnaldum text messages six hours earlier, cause they can´t process any information in two hours.

Never has there been a team so capable of playing the best teams off the park, and then losing against relegation fodder. Liverpool have been the same for years now.

lol "drive and determination"......two unquantifiable qualities. How convenient.

I get criticised for citing stats re. Alli's superior record for both goals and assists - both quantifiable quantities. And when I cite something that's observable but not quantifiable, I get criticised for that too. Go figure :wenger:

Full time.

This is why Liverpool have gone almost 30 years without the title and have won 1 trophy in almost 12 years.

How do you beat City one week and then lost to fecking bottom of the table Swansea next week ?

This is an amazing result for Swansea, as weren't Liverpool on about a 17 game unbeaten run?
Only 3 defeats in 24 league games, quite a startling result.

We have scouse lovers and city lovers. You know the drill.

@Damien ?

This is why people werent concerned to see them beat city. Because the inevitable bottle job against some bottom team would make up for it soon enough

I'm at loss of words.
This day truly couldn't get any better.
Got my trusty hookah next to me, hot cup of jawa, Sanchez is signed, sealed, delivered and the tears of Liverpool.
Ungh...

Without Coutinho they're depending on pace merchants only ( Salah and Mane ). Will work fine against top teams with open spaces but against a defensive block like this they'll struggle a lot.

Not scoring against bottom of the league in a full 90 for a team supposed to be playing heavy metal football is hilarious to think about. They looked completely devoid of ideas by the end of the match without Coutinho.

Days like this are exactly why I was glad Pool beat city even if it brought them temporarily closer to us. You can always count on Pool to drop points in situations like this, particularly soon after beating a big team. It’s happened for years and looks like it will continue.

Phil Thompson last week:

“I think Liverpool have proved they are the second-best team in the league.”
