Premier League Gameweek 22

Ironically, Spurs have been shite on the counter today. Two men running through the middle and yet they attempt the long diagonal pass to a slow Kane who can barely sprint.

Pretty drab half and it's 1:18am here so no way I'm staying up for the second.

Surely there’s a happy medium between always and never?
There is but it involves Haaland dropping deep sometimes or having a little bit of on the ball ability.
Haaland is either double marked and not dropping deep or he’s on some mad dash looking for his teammates to spam a through ball.
let’s not pretend City don’t find him, look at his goal record! If anybody needs to adjust its Haaland so I don’t get Gary’s point. It really looks as if Haaland simply can’t hold the ball up or play with his back to goal.

Martin Tyler is desperate for the "first City goal at the new stadium" narrative to manifest. It's pathetic.

Sometimes think Pep suffers from being able to buy too many players. It's like he gets bored or indecisive and tinkers for the sake of it. City were a near perfect team over the past couple season. If it ain't broke...

Rodri and Silva too casual playing the ball slowly around in the middle. City need more thrust to catch Spurs out of settled positions, release the ball earlier to attackers

If Spurs win this, it is hard to deny that we are in a title race.

Win on Wednesday and we are joint second with almost half the season to play.

Going to be interesting for sure. Everyone having at least 16 matches to go means everything can happen.

2 goals for Grealish is a horrendous return this season

Watch the commentators fawn over his next goal as another trademark Grealish goal. The trademark goalscorer that almost never scores, because he’s so predictable and so bad at the thing he’s predictable at.

De Bruyne has by far the best chemistry with Haaland and he’s on the bench. Teams have it seems figured out how to cut Haaland’s supply off.

Haaland plays like a more clinical version of later years Lukaku.

That's exactly what he is. He could easily end up 'winning the game' today when Spurs inevitably Spurs it up, but it'll be because De Bruyne comes on and puts the ball on a plate for him 5 yards out, or somebody wins a pen.

Don’t care what anyone says but Haaland is a problem the way mancity want to play. His goals mean jackshit if city don’t win anything.

In a way it's like the Ronaldo conundrum we had, albeit a guy at the top of his game, not well beyond it.
But it's also something we need to think about carefully when pursuing Kane.

Yes he dallies around in midfield and serves up some assists, but we don't need that, we've plenty back there, we need a pressing, pacey younger player who will still score. Hoping they have someone like that tapped up.

Mahrez can also come up with a piece of brilliance

More recently City have hardly opted to take advantage of his runs.

And I agree, he should look to get involved more deeply when it’s not coming his way, but the few times he gets played the ball with a defender on him and there’s movement around him, he tends to lay it off decently. It’s overstated that he can’t handle that responsibility at all.

I can't decide what result I want here. Are we looking down or up at this point?

We're asking perfection these days. Someone who scores loads, but also does all the ugly work.

I dunno, I’ve just seen he’s scored in one away game in England in the last 4 months. I know there’s a World Cup there but Leeds after the break is the only game he’s scored in since the game before our 6:3!
He’s got to do more. He’s really not busy enough

I’d like a City win. Not much difference between 2nd/3rd for me and. As much as I’d prefer Arsenal to win the title over City, a City win would put pressure on Arsenal which might lead to them dropping more points.

Its more that De Bruyne will actually look to play him in behind the defence early, while this current City team are faffing about dwelling on the ball until they are 30 yards from goal

Haaland makes runs, has some pace and power to get in behind and will score. But you've got to play the passes in for him to chase. If you dont he's just standing in the box hoping you put a good ball in and City havent managed one towards him. There was 1 good ball to the back post towards Grealish that Royal dealt with

It depends what we think we can still achieve.
If it's just top 4, then we need Tottenham to drop points.

If we're confident we'll at least get top 4, and potentially it's a go at 2nd, then it's fine as it is.

Which is why he has yet to win CL with City. He saves complication for there usually.

I hear this a lot. Pep, overcomplication, and finals. It has picked up traction and every so often another person on Redcafe passes the sentiment on, but really, it's quite the opposite.

Prior to the CL final loss, his career finals record was as follows:
23 finals, 19 wins, 4 losses. It's an 82.6% in finals.

That’s the problem though. City became too one dimensional with KDB constantly firing balls into Haaland that they struggled to even have a cohesive attack never mind score goals v even the lower sides.
I think Pep is trying to force his players to find Haaland and attack in a more varied way without the KDB go to.

Since he got to City in fact he never won one at Bayern either. Barca he had some amazing players who performed his system to absolute perfection.

No disagreement there. Though it happens to coincide with City overall having a blip. It’s not as if they’ve looked a wholly different team when he’s been benched and Alvarez came in.

Are the two concepts totally exclusive, or can he win despite himself?

The Spud to win. Suck the life from UAE deputy prime pr*ck, Limited. Man-Sour. Despoiling Manchester.

Definitely want a draw and if not that, City win. Spurs are too close to us
