Premier League - Gameweek 17

The people clutching the "they haven't played anyone away yet" are diminishing. Arsenal, United and now Tottenham navigated. City, Chelsea, Villa at home too.

Everyone celebrating Klopp leaving, bloody hell

Well they still have to play City, Chelsea and us away. Likes of Bournemouth, Fulham, Forest etc will be awkward games aswell.

What helps Liverpool though is 85 points will be more than enough to win the league this season unless Arsenal barely draw any games from this point on so they have a good margin for error compared to previous seasons when they've needed over 90 points to have any chance over Man. City.

Spurs offsides get the whistle straight away, Liverpool offsides they get to play on until the chance has gone

Would definitely prefer Arsenal to be where Chelsea are.
Chelsea got to game 2 of their supposed great run of fixtures before dropping points, and simply don't have enough.

So it's whether Arsenal can put a 10 game winning run in, while Liverpool don't win more than 6/10.
Seems unlikely.

We completely outplayed this Spurs team with our B team and a ghost in net. This should be easy peasy for Liverpool.

They are going to win the league, don't they? They are so fecking lucky that it's the Arsenal bottle-jobs not City chasing them.

What shit start to a Sunday.

Arsenal did hit great form from this point last season and I don't think Liverpool are as formidable as Man. City are to attempt to reel in. Probably does require Arsenal to have to go to Anfield and win though which they likely won't do.

Everton just reeled off 0-0s with Arsenal and Chelsea. Think the Goodison derby is going to be placed in mid Feb so that will be another tricky fixture for Liverpool to navigate.

They're favourites currently no doubt but they will drop points like they've just done against Newcastle and Fulham recently.

Not sure what the shock is with that Spurs backline. Have they not got any decent young CBs or have they all been loaned out?

They can also put out all the attackers they want but in games like this you badly need central midfield control and they are lacking that, Liverpool cruising it and will likely score four or five here.
Dragusin is ok but it’s that suicidal high line and the insistence on playing from the back, which is basically playing with fire against Liverpool.

Mate, it's practically dinner time. Sunday is almost over. Got darts in the evening at least.

Arsenal get some firepower in Jan and it’ll be close

That Maddison goal is annoying. Spurs didn’t deserve that. Excellent performance so far.

Playing at home three goals conceded and 13 shots given up in one half. When will pundits and journalists be honest and say this Tottenham style of play doesn't work against any half decent team nevermind top of the table Liverpool?

Fulham was a bit of a freak with such an early red, but there's always hope.
You'd have thought this might be a slight challenge today though, but no.

Aren't the media already saying that? Spurs record against most of top 10 been abysmal for pretty much all of 2024 so Angeball has been found out by most of the top teams (although we struggle against it).

I am wanting Liverpool to lose, but at same time want Spurs to get a spanking. They were so up themselves on Thursday even though we actually gifted them the win.

If Arsenal have any aspirations on the title they'll probably need a performance let alone a result at Anfield. Something like 1989 and all that.

Liverpool will drop points but they don't have City chasing them so 83-85 points will probably do it.

Think Pool might back Slot as well in the winter window though?

Would be funny if Salah leaves around the new year.
If they sign a half decent replacement for Nunez and Konate stays injury free for most of the second half of the season, they'll do it comfortably.
