Premier League Gameweek 14

It better be Foden for Sterling, goal aside he's been the worst player on the pitch

It's the ricochet rule:

Premier League players will be allowed extra leeway when it comes to ricocheted handballs.

It is often impossible to avoid contact with the ball if it has deflected off the body of an opponent, team-mate, or even another part of the own player.

So a handball will not be awarded if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player who is close/nearby.

Well that’s an idiotic rule change. Players should obviously be penalised if their own clumsy attempts to control a football involves the ball hitting their arm/hand.

a penalty is awarded for a foul in the box, goal scoring opportunity or not?

Take a pill and imagine with me for a second.

We rewrite the rules and a penalty is awarded if anywhere on the pitch a goalscoring opportunity is denied. Otherwise an indirect free kick at the spot of the infraction.

Foul on the last man outside the box? Instant penalty

Yeah my comment of course was meant as a reminder of current rules, while your deliberations are well worth discussing.

The game definitely does need more subjectivity about what is and isn’t a penalty.

He's been good technically from day 1 but he's taken it up a level or two over the past two years. Ridiculously good both defensively and going forward. Easily the best full back in the world right now. Rolls Royce of a player, which is a weird thing to say about a full back.

Yep, his consistency for you lot is remarkable.

Who is nketiah and how is he starting ahead of lacazette and martinelli?

Liverpool have a +17 GD despite the villa match
Even if you take away today they would still be best or at worst second best with a 1-0 today
Crazy

I absolutely hate players like Redmond. Gets the ball, holds on to it, spins, turns, runs up, then down and passes it back.

Just 4 yellows today shown by Dean. It must have been an uneventful match

Southamp simply can't get the ball back to mount any attacks, thats what separates a possession based team against a counter attacking one! When leading narrowly, it means you can see out games rather than backs against the wall i.e. Thursday night!

Southampton look shattered, City hardly look convincing even now.

Big win for City that. They will go on a run at some point and this season that will still give them a great shot at the title. Will probably buy in Jan too.

Well, yeah, obviously. City are capable of passing the ball to each other. We treat the ball like it’s a grenade.

Hasenhuttl's subs were shambolic, deserved win for City. Saints have no players bar Ings who are technical in tight spaces, absolutely clueless when they have to break a team down without set pieces. They had a few chances in the first half but otherwise rarely threatened

Another disgraceful performance. Can't imagine how City make Top4 playing like this.

Much better 2nd half from us but we have to take our chances. Too many guilt edged opportunities fecked up today 2nd half. Sterling needs to sort himself out big time.

The difference between how clinical Liverpool are in comparison to us is insane.

Arse fans have been making out as if they're missing prime R9 the past few months with Martinelli out. Lets see if he gets some minutes today, good player.
