Premier League Festive Season

Not only was it not a foul on the keeper, but the keeper himself came out and clattered into the Burnley player and kneed him in the back.

I don’t understand the rules anymore.
Pope got the ball first but the ref gave a penalty, then Meslier fouls Burnley player but gets a freekick.

First it was never a pen. Pope got the ball first. Then clean goal disallowed. Bonkers.

VAR has made predicting these matches basically impossible. They don't give obvious decisions anymore.

GKs can now wipe out centre forwards a la Schumacher, but no worries the forwards can be subbed with the concussion protocol.

I feel like Bruce gets credit on here for simply not being Rafa. Most magpies I’ve ever spoken to think he’s a nice enough bloke but my word do they want rid.
It’s no surprise their support back Rafa, the only one they’ve had in over a decade to question the way the clubs run and the complete lack of ambition to do anything except faff about in the bottom half year after year. Bruce knows full well he’d have never managed in the Prem again in any other circumstance, it’s virtually the only type of manager they hire other than Rafa, he’ll happily play the puppet, keep the club in the league and keep your mouth shut.

Robinson talking complete nonsense on Leeds penalty, comparing it to Pickford and VVD.

Lunacy, the game is gone.

Burnley cant string 3 or more passes together. There are far too many aerial balls from them which result in lost possession. They have no passing patterns and switch off whenever the ball is out of play. You can see them all adjusting socks, shin pads, shirts etc and not anticipating what might happen next. Leeds are much busier, both on and off the ball, they are all looking for any moment of indecision or poor concentration from Burnley players, they are both forcing Burnley players to make mistakes and also looking for Burnleys unforced mistakes. Burnley look like they have no plan. They will need a massive 2nd half to look likely.

They've been playing well in last few weeks, beat Palace, Arsenal and Wolves in last two weeks and got a good 0-0 (somehow) against us.

Can't say I'd want to watch that style 30 + times a season though. Genuinely think Stoke were more interesting to watch under Pulis with the Delap long throws.

Part of why I respect Dyche for the job he's done there but can't see him ever taking over a major club. And if he ever gets a stint as England manager the press will quickly hammer his style.

I agree they have done well in recent games but in this one they are simply giving the ball away continually. They are relying on hope rather than dictating play

They do that every game. Their style dosen't change whether it's playing Man. City (annual 5 nil defeat) or West Brom (0-0 draw ). Rigid 4-4-2, defenders barely moving up from 18 yard box and long punts for Wood to knock down for Barnes or Rodriguez. Midfield isn't athletic enough to press much although Dwight McNeil is a decent up and coming player.

In fairness they've been a bit unlucky with fixture list, only prem team so far yet to play Fulham or Sheffield United so far, got both at home in next week so that should be another 4 points to pull them more clear of bottom 3.

Its an interesting one with Chris Woods, I always think the concentration of his physicality means coaches forget he can play with the ball at his feet

Actually think he'd be a decent back up striker for many of the top clubs e.g. Chelsea if Giroud is no longer around or Spurs in their eternal quest to find a happy Kane reserve.

Only turned 29 and usually posts 10-15 goals a season so much worse out there.

Amazing how many teams have ability to grind out a 1-0 win after being thrashed the week before. Leeds aren't far off it now. Can always remember Man. United after you'd infamously lost 6-1 to City going somewhere the week after and playing out a dire 1-0 win that set you off on a very long unbeaten run. Can also remember Wigan losing 9-1 at Spurs and they also won 1-0 the next game.

Probably shows the difference between a quality manager who can keep everything calm in the following week's training rather than someone like Paul Lambert who completely panics.

In xmas 2012 we lost 8-0 to Chelsea, then 4-0 at home to Spurs and 3-0 to Wigan and completely collapsed for two months. Still somehow stayed up in the end but that was a horrid period.

Dyche has very clearly given his players some good information at half time. It really is that cliche of a game of 2 halves. I have no idea who will win this one.

Burnley 50/1 if you fancy it. :D

I suspect Leeds will do enough, maybe add a second on counter.

Burnley robbed by an atrocious ref today. Hopefully Dyche tears him a new one.

Another vintage Leeds performance, we are so lucky to have them in the prem.

Don’t really care if burnley were robbed they’re a trash, nothing team. Would love to see them go down and never return.
