Premier League Festive Season

My goodness never thought this game would have such drama.

What drugs is Beglin on?
I was thinking this. Dendocker stands on Mahrez's foot and Mahrez goes down holding his foot. Beglin then proceeds to say there's no tugging after they replay it 5 times.

What gibberish are the Wolves fans singing now? I can't understand a single word. It's just noise.

VAR for encroachment is like having a surgery for a broken nail. feck off stop overcomplicating football

Harsh, was never a pen then the keeper saves twice but still concedes the goal.

I really hate VAR. What about Bernardo's encroachment?

what would have happened if it was tapped in by a City player that was encroaching? Retake of the penalty or free-kick to the defending team?

Jesus Christ it was for the stamp you stupid tit Beglin. Someone tell him please.

Or just stay out of the box until it’s been taken...

The offender (attacking players) are much less scared to run into the box, because if they encroach, the penalty isnt retaken. The attacker is what is causing defenders to encroach, if both encroach it clearly has to be legal. One player running before is causing the other to follow him.. its a natural muscle reaction

Didn't the Norwich keeper come off the line twice against us and no encroachment given either time? Love the consistency.

Can't argue with any of the decisions

It was a red
It was a pen (stood on his foot)
It was encroachment

There is no consistency in the game any more. What the referee will overturn changes on a week by week basis.
That's bound to happen with different referee's own thresholds. They're still living by a different era's set of rules, which needs to be fixed.

I agree there needs to be changes with the referee's now having strict thresholds in what is overturned, as it's a different game now.

The var tech isn't the issue. It's the idiots who can't create clear rules to follow for each referee/match that are the problem.

Its a weird dynamic this because City being down to 10 makes them drop deeper and be more compact whilst Wolves who are used to sitting deep and getting behind the ball are not used to being the team to dominate possession. It kind of suits the aims of City now they’re 1-0 up.

People justifying cheating and complaining that VAR is stopping teams getting away with it..

weird..

Right up there with blaming the refs for "spoiling the game" when some player does something stupid and gets sent off.

I love that logic

Was a City player really encroaching as well because that's fairly ridiculous if true?
Yes he was and if he'd scored from the rebound, it would have been a free kick to Wolves. As the defender encroached and cleared the rebound, he is deemed active and therefore penalised for it

My goodness the Wolves fans are shouting for every fecking thing

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm not entirely sure what happened as I'm listening on the radio.

It looks like they are loosening the restrictions on overturning on field decisions in the Premier League, at last. Been a fair few big decisions in recent weeks that VAR would have totally ignored at the start of the season to protect the on field ref.

The sending off was fair, Jota would have scored if not for Ederson's foul.

The penalty was very very soft, I'd be fuming if it got given against us

The retake, I don't know, Bernardo was the player furthest forward, but there was a Wolves player in the box also

Overall City are incredibly lucky to be ahead here.
