Premier League Festive Season

Liverpool fans on redcafe posting like they own the place. You can't make it up.

I think there needs to be a cull. Far too many of them on here now. Why would you want to join a forum relating to your major rival? I don’t understand it.

No, I've actually watched him play numerous times and it's clear he's decent on the ball. Ask any Chelsea fan and they will likely tell you the same thing. View past matches and you'll see plenty of nice touches and excellently weighted passes. Pretty tell you chose one of his poorest games to try and prove he's "shite" on the ball. Amusing.
If Kante shat on a new born baby Chelsea fans would call it art. No, you'll see some complete mess ups and horrid touches interwoven with stuff you'll see from most footballers down the park. It's odd how often i've had this conversation, how these 'one off' games keep happening. Keep those fingers in your ears pal. He's prime Pirlo.

FAO everyone, stop calling Sheffield United "Sheffield". You're getting football wrong.
"This bloke said to me, 'can you tell your availability to run a football team in Sheffield?'... I said,'I can't manage Wednesday'." ...

The Liverpool fans who have been here for many years have kinda earned a little leeway I think. Us long-standing "oppos" take a lot more shit than we give (and rightly so).

The newbie Scouse are clearly only here to gloat.

Apparently any midfielder who is worse than Pirlo on the ball is "shite"
6/10 on the wumming and strawman arguments. Mildly amused but you should try watching more football though. Might help you draw better conclusions. Cheers.

Not a great day, both Chelsea and City won. I guess we will have to wait for another stumble.

5th after 20 games. Good round of fixtures except for Chelsea

(I don't care about Liverpool)

Yeah I get that. Shall I reword that to newbie Liverpool fans needed to be culled. Better still go back to the old newbies system.

No, you said that we had to factor in the rule that linesmen can't flag for offside any more so we'll never know for sure how many would have been missed. That's not true, they raise the flag once a goal is scored if they have seen any reason to disallow it in the build up. VAR check for things either way so it's nothing other than a mild ego massage for the official if he was right.

However, as I said in my original post that you disagreed with … very few, if any, of the micro-managed, millimetre off-sides given over the last two days were `actually spotted by the officials and the goals would have stood before VAR.
I know that
(thanks to @giorno best efforts) but its never shown on tv. Theres never been a point made that the move even gets that far solely thanks to VAR and the linesman guideline to keep their flag down on close decisions.
Id love a lineman having to signal as soon as he would have flagged. Being able to wait and breathe with no pressure is a lot different than what they had to deal with and their auto raising of flags pre VAR.
Hell we have VAR and theres been two instances of lineman raising their flags for offsides during Shff Utd matches and both being overruled. Its just human nature.

It hasn't solved it completely, because we're still seeing examples of linesman flagging incorrectly offside and the ref whistling before the attack breaks down.
On veryrare occasions when linesmen ignore protocol. That muscle memory will pass.
Lets not forget, their great runs arent being unfairly flagged when they are onside and, despite all the crying and huffing, they are actually offside in these tight calls.
Thats more than a fair tradeoff. Hell every foul in the box is spotted now.
Do we just hate defenders?

Massive result for City beating a side who hadn't lost away from home at all in 2019

Also helps Liverpool inflict a 2nd away defeat in Sheffield United's next game

Old timers are here to stay hopefully, been reading the cafe since 2011, joined in Jan 2015. A great place for football and other things outside certain threads obviously. No doubt there’s going to be a lot signing up to gloat and some from RAWK.

As you can imagine, fuming. I would’ve accepted a 2-0 defeat away to the current champions normally but wow, I can’t believe what I have witnessed today. Comfortably in the game until *that* moment. Can’t celebrate goals now either as you’re always thinking ‘wait for var’. Gutted but proud of them blades, shows how far we have come. Next up: Anfield

VAR is always going to be controversial. One day your team will benefit from it, the other day it won’t.
Get used to it. No team do what Liverpool did this year by being corrupt.

You're replying to the wrong person. I've never said VAR is corrupt. I've said that they need to stop using it for micro offside decisions. There's been three this weekend, Norwich, Wolves and Sheffield United, which pre-VAR nobody would have looked at a replay of and said they were offside.

That's what needs addressing.

Apparently, hyperbole doesn't exist in your world  don't worry, it's a tough concept. Next week: sarcasm.

You can carry on pretending Kante is good on the ball if that makes you feel better. I'll leave you to your fantasies.

Kane was offside as he pushed the Norwich player over.
We are now seeing games decided by men sat in a room with no accountability.
I’m done with footy til they sort this out

Why don't they have accountability? They are named in the game and are held accountable for their decisions.

Held accountable in what way? What exactly are the consequences for making an arse of a decision? Cause it seems like there aren’t any, there’s no transparency in what goes on with referees and that’s partly the reason so many people are pissed off.

That goal was fecking shocking, just because the ref didn't touch the ball, if it had even grazed him the goal wouldn't have stood. That rule needs serious amending. Felt for you guys a little bit though we needed the win.

Makes no sense to me how they can decide to let it stand. This is supposed to be the best league there is. Top day out though just gutting that we could’ve come away with something.
