Disgusting from both sets of supporters…
Agreed. It's obviously classless and massively distasteful, but totally agree that equating it to hate speech is well OTT.I find it hard to get too outraged about this. Equating it to homophobia or racism is a bit over the top, with those being very clear problems in society and definitely marginalising groups of potential young players or fans.
I’m sure it’s not great for the families of those that died but I’m also sure it’s not great for families of, let’s say, Joel Glazer when they hear that he’s going to be cut from head to toe. Who is deciding where that morality line is being drawn?
No issues with the clubs condemning it and I wouldn’t sing that stuff myself, but I don’t see how it breaks any kind of laws for fans to be banned - happy to be corrected if it does.
If the Munich disaster happened tomorrow there'd be songs about it next week, different times. One of my neighbours is a retired school headmaster, and a lifetime an City fan
At the time of the Munich disaster, he was a teacher in Manchester.
A couple of years ago he described the sombre atmosphere around the area in the ensuing days, affecting not only Man Utd fans, but rival fans, and people with little or no interest in football
He must be close to 90 yeas old
The idiots causing commotion at matches are to young to know any of this, and it sounds like too many of them have no respect for it either
I think we're past the worst days of this kind of thing, personally, as society catches on to it faster. These chants are not new by any stretch, was there as much attention on them and did clubs get fined/people get caught in the past?If the Munich disaster happened tomorrow there'd be songs about it next week, different times.
Make strong examples of those who are caught.I agree, but I can't ever see it stopping. One side starts it, then the other feels the need to hit back with their own grisly retort.
That said, why the feck were United fans chanting 'murderers' on the anti-Glazer march to Old Trafford in August? I was there, it happened, a mile from the ground, and came from our most celebrated set of fans.
We can all condemn it online, it's easy, but I cannot see anything changing with the most hardcore supporters. At the same time, I'm reluctant to criticise those fans because they're the ones who bring the atmosphere and whose support makes a difference in games.

What the feck. Jail time. Hefty Fines. Community service.Make strong examples of those who are caught.
- Lifetime bans from all games
- Community service
- Hefty fines
- Some jail time
All of the above will do.

It's disrespecting and mocking people who were tragically killed. It's quite easy to understand how that could cause offence to someIt's immature.
Saying that. I've no idea why people get so offended by it.

Same sort of cnuts who sing about Hillsborough, Bradford, Heysel or Ibrox. If I heard one of our own singing about other fans' tragedies, I'd be the first to lob a bottle of piss at them.
What's that?Thread title makes it sound like fans were singing the steps song.
What's that?
It happens all the time in every walk of life. It's disrespecting and mocking people who were tragically killed. It's quite easy to understand how that could cause offence to some

Its a minority of fans being childish idiots thats met with hypocritical faux outrage.
What measures do you propose to deter possible racist abuse? What the feck. Jail time. Hefty Fines. Community service.
I'm not sure if you're being serious here.
Thanks for your contribution to the discussion.
No.Pretty sure that hundreds/thousands of people joyfully singing in front of a worldwide audience about people dying doesn't happen all the time in every walk of life.
Dont know whats your point, especially about faux public outrage. It happens in every aspects of life so nothing to sweat about? And if you do, you're hypocritical.No.
But abuse is thrown at people all the time.
Based on our personal opinions and views, we choose ehich ones are offensive and which ones aren't.
For example. There are plenty of United fans who are rangers and celtic fans and both happily sing bigoted songs about terrorists who killed thousands.
