Premier league boxing day fixtures

I wouldn't rave about Arsenal's comeback to a patched up west ham...who are already a mediocre side.

Sure you showed character to come back at all...kudos to that but surely you would've been raging had you not beaten the XI put in front of your Arsenal side today?

Character? I thought you were extremely lucky. West ham's energy seemed to completely throw arsenals game off. Once you got a goal, they seemed to lose belief completely. They're a terrible side really, were awful against us too.

Luck's a difficult concept to describe in that game.

We were arguably ferociously unlucky not to score five goals in the first half, although I'd argue that was our stupid fault.

Then Joey O'Brien committed three yellow card offences and still wasn't sent off. Dowd knew it too. Alladyce laughing when hauling him off was almost hilarious if I hadn't been shaking with rage.

We lost a bit of composure but came back so strong and kept the faith in our game. A criticism I often have of Arsenal is that we lose technical quality when we're up against it, but today, we didn't.

Well that's the point really. No top side would do something quite so stupid.

It would be tough for anyone, but it's not impossible to score against the bottom side with ten men. Happy for Sunderland though who deserved some luck.

Meh, for me that Everton loss was acceptable given how it happened. I'd be a lot more annoyed as an Everton fan than worried after it.

I doubt it. I know the automatic three for a straight red is gone but isn't it at least a two game ban?

I thought it was a really poor pass to a player covered. No need to take the risk. Osman fecked up too but I'd put the blame with Howard.

(I only seen one replay of it.)

I think Howard did what he could, Kie was just clever. I wouldn't blame him for being exposed in a 1v1 like that.

What? Why?

what? Newcastle will never take the title. They are not going to beat Arsenal anyway.

Holy Shit. TBF, it makes about as much sense as your posts in the matchday thread.

Now why would you want that? :wenger: Draw won't be too bad, but let's hope Arse lose the match.

I'm not looking at the Title. I see it as a shootout between Arsenal and City anyway.

I'm more concerned about working our way back into the top four and for that to happen we need the likes of Everton and Newcastle to drop points.

Don't ever change, al.

I respect your view more than most.

We'll see how Everton respond. I always thought talk of them being top three by the end of January to be a little over-positive.

 You do realise then that the more important thing is someone in the top 4 dropping points then otherwise the top four will remain out of our reach?

You really are stupid.

Is there ever a football match where the referee doesn't hate Arsenal?

And agree to disagree about arsenals character. I thought you were very vulnerable and weary today and west ham always made you pay for it dearly. But that pressure they out you under which you seemed to struggle with, lasted only until you equalised. They're an awful side IMO.

Bit like yours against Hull then?

He didn't hate us, but if you saw the game, you'd know what I mean.

We obviously saw it differently - I didn't see us as being knackered today(as opposed to against City) but the loss of Koscielny is big for us. Vermaelen just isn't top class and Szczesny made his first error of the season today.

Get the right back four in and we'll be OK. You're right though that a better side might have punished us on the break.

Arsenal aren't going to fall out of the top four though. So I'm more focused on us overtaking Everton and Newcastle and then hopefully knocking Liverpool out of the top four.

So what about Newcastle then? Really coming into some form now.

fwiw I think you'll batter us. We looked utter dogshit against Stoke until the sending off. Then again, that may have been down to Pardew having no idea how a 4-3-3 is supposed to play and just putting the names in the right places and hoping everything works out as an "offensive" lineup.

4-1 or 4-0 to you, I genuinely think it will be a mauling.

Yeah Hull with an unchanged side in god knows how many weeks and a respectable home record.

But yeah I always expect us to win games so had we not won I'd have been annoyed just as I've been on the 9 occasions we've dropped points this season.

We don't need people praising our character...just need the players to do their job and get their heads into the next game once the final whistle is blown.

Listen mate, Everton and Newcastle losing against the top 4 sides doesn't help us getting to the top 4, because the teams currently in the top 4 need to drop points and the best bet that they would do is to lose against the sides in 4th or 5th. If we get to 5th place hoping Everton and Newcastle drop points and then what? Pray for miracles for Top 4 sides to lose against relegation contenders?

This is so Roy Keanish.

Respectable home record? Really?

Pardew has a knack of getting under our skin though. It'll be interesting.

Vincent Kompany sounds like Michael Van Gerwen with the pacing of Cleveland Brown.

Usually when a team concedes just the 3 goals in all their home games you'd call that respectable...especially for a relegation candidate.

Their problems lie in goalscoring unless Jonny Evans and Wayne Rooney are bending over for them.

Brendan sounds like a German speaking English.

What the feck is going on.

Christ Jose looked a bit downbeat. Seems to have lost his spark of late.
