Premier League 25/1/25 - 26/1/25

Is it me or does every team that beat us (United) immediately follow it up with a defeat?
Brighton, West Ham, spurs, wolves off the top of my head so far this season.

Only a matter of time before Iraola gets a top job. Feel like he'd fit well at Arsenal if they decide to move course from Arteta.

Handbags at the end of Brighton-Everton pmsl.

Looks like Arsenal either did really well or they got away with one.

Obviously Liverpool were winning their game today but it’s hard to see where they’ll drop enough points.

I think your Liverpool friends don’t understand his role at Liverpool then or his strengths as a player.

He’s never going to be a blood and thunder forward that breaks a nose to score or presses a back line to exhaustion but as a ball striker and positionally aware LW he’s as good as any in the league. He generates so much power and accuracy with little back lift, consistently manages to find the inside run and space to do so and uses his body increasingly well now that he’s adapted to the PL.

My prediction is him ending up with 15 league goals this season.
@Wing Attack Plan R

Gakpo - 8 goals and 3 assists now. He’s halfway there.

They only showed it once at the end, but the Everton pen looked a weird one.

Brighton today 16 shots, 69% possession, don't score and lose to Everton at home. Last week away to United win 3-1 had 6 shots on goal and 48% possession hmm...

The promoted sides and Wolves now for the relegation fight. Injuries to Everton may feck them over, but I think they'll have enough.

Bournemouth are ridiculous. Having an amazing season and despite that are still underperforming their underlying metrics (only behind Liverpool and Arsenal in this). Not a fluke at all with them while you could say Forest being so high are a bit flukey and they'll likely drop off.

Everton win, leaving us only 3 points from 16th. Everton, West Ham and Spurs behind us, with Wolves in 17th. If we don't rack up a couple of wins soon, it's going to get even uglier. These teams will pick up points here and there.

Is Kluivert as good as his statistics this season? I never really watch Bournemouth, but I read about him scoring braces and hattricks seemlingly every week.

Fair point well made. Screw you :p
Honestly though, United just matched or even surpassed Liverpool's intensity and should've won that game I think.

Just beggars belief that they are capable of that and than just resume with the crap performances like Southampton and Brighton.

I’m glad we got a result, but I’m hoping the league takes a second look at that Oliver’s dismissal of Lewis-Skelly.

As an Arsenal fan, I don’t want one of our players to have an unjustified three match ban.

And as a football fan, I don’t want the fact we won the game to distract from the fact that our supposed best referee is addicted to the limelight and makes awful decisions as a result.

Tell me about it, it's the most frustrating aspect of our current misery. Knowing what we're capable of

Just a recent burst of form more likely, plus penalties. Over the past year he's at 0.34 non pen goals/90 and at 0.29 non pen xG/90. He's nothing special. Iraola is the one there who is special IMO.

Havertz missed 2 sitters but otherwise we were utterly dire. I was honestly bored to death yawning most of the game.

Wow, two new signings immediately starting for City, Pep must be seriously out of ideas with his current players.
