Premier League 14/1/25 - 20/1/25

Southampton misses way too many chances now. United will get away with a result in the last 10 minutes probably. But this is probably the most concerning performance so far this season

Sir Jim doesn't look entertained, someone is getting sacked in the morning.

It doesn’t even look like utd can get a draw here, too lethargic, limited movement

Thought United were going to batter Southampton. This has been a tough game for them.

Not sure that ball went off there, guess we'll never know.

Poor Southampton. Going for the lowest points tally in PL history.

ETH kept that guy on the bench for months

Very predictable that 10 minutes of pressure was enough to break through this Southampton side. They don't know how to win games. United should be very concerned about this though, but at least the subs changed the game. Might need to cut their losses with Hojlund quickly and get in someone capable of playing at this level though

Yeah feels like they're going to have more bad results as the season goes on. Relegation talk was daft. They'll probably end up lower end of the top half.

Really can't see it. We don't score enough goals to win enough games that'll get us into the top half - despite Amad's heroics. I'd guess 11-14 but we'll always struggle to put any kind of run together meaning we'll stay around where we are. Maximum three PL wins in a row would be my bet but even that's wildly optimistic.

Amorim seems to have found a first 11 just about that somewhat fits his system, if he sticks to that they will be fine points-wise with room for improvement probably.

But equally there is players that simply aren't working and the rotation could make it very difficult for them. Yoro obviously were painful to watch today but that is probably more down to him being raw as a player. De Ligt in the centre of the three is more concerning, way more solid with Maguire. Ugarte and Mainoo is also a poor combination currently when you need to get the ball forward and break teams down. Also needs to focus on keeping Amad and Garnacho away from wing-back duties but still let them be the attacking output from wide. Zirkzee needs to start every game with runners around him in this system because Hojlund just isn't good enough as a player at the moment and also doesn't posess a skillset that is compatible with what you need from a centre-forward in this system the way the games unfold at the moment.

Long story short, I think they have found a decent coach that has some obvious adapting to do, whether that is tweaks to this particular system or to his rotational policy. Being passed around and outplayed for majority of games by relegation fodder and relying on individual magic in both boxes to bail them out won't be sustainable, it has been like this under several managers already

Dibling injury killed them

Maybe, but United getting on a centre-forward capable of actually progressing play along with Fernandes dropping deeper to actually provide the front-men with passes instead of what Ugarte and Mainoo were doing started to wear Southampton down until United had them pinned back enough to eatablish pressure.

If the same team that started the match played the whole 90 minutes United would have likely lost but the changes made were good. But also baffling to rotate this much when it is clear at this point what works and what doesn't

Sore over Sunday are we, yeah of course
I genuinely don't care about United's results, it's just a bit of fun. I even had United winning on my acca so i'm fine whatever you do...
You won on Sunday, congrats and good luck for the rest of the competition :+1:

I thought you were trying to sack Ruben, no doubt we looked more fatigued from the cup game than yourselves last night against Spurs

Nah Amorim's a good coach who got dealt Europe's shittiest hand. The cattering staff is safe for another few days, Brighton will be something else.

I think Kluivert now has 8 goals for the season, albeit 6 of them penalties. Very strange record

As Ajacied I love to see lil Kluivert thrive in the EPL.

Iraola looks like he’s about to double cross Indiana Jones and get himself impaled

I envy Bournmeouth's team so much. All spring chickens. 1 through 11. Must be nice. That's the level of fitness and intensity we need to get to.

Bournemouth are truly something this season.

Great game so far.
