I think Reus is a player who would positively transform United the most with his pace, creativity and goalscoring attributes.

I keep seeing Lallana's name pop up. Good player though he may be (haven't seen much of him,) why would want to sign a player like that? If I'm not mistaken, he plays in the Mata/Kagawa area of the pitch (please correct me if I'm wrong,) and that's probably the one area where we don't need an upgrade.

Get me a top winger who has pace and can beat a man and top central midfielder and I will be happy. Make them our marquee signings.

I would keep Evra and Ferdinand for another season and sign a decent versatile fullback to boost the squad.

That would leave us with;

DDG

Rafael/Evra/Buttner/New player

Smalling/Jones/Evans/Ferdiand

Carrick/Fellaini/Cleverley/Fletcher/New player

Valencia/Nani/Januzaj/New player

Mata/Kagawa

Rooney/van Persie/Welbeck/Hernandez

I would definately let Young and Anderson leave, hence why they have not been included. I would also consider allowing Nani and Hernandez to go if the price was right. The only concern I would have with the above squad would be injuries to the defence. We don‘t seem to be able to keep them fit so may look a centre back light in the absence of Vidic. I genuinely believe Smalling, Jones and Evans are more than capable of stepping up, it is just a matter keeping them (and Rafael) fit.

I think we get Carvalho, Shaw, a CB, and a winger as our main first team/squad purchases. Add in an RB if Rafael goes.

Then probably 1-2 young players - a CM and another winger is my guess.

After last summer, I am finding it hard to even imagine us singing anyone properly now

I now just assume either (a) a player is using us to increase his wages; or (b) we will go after a world class player and then, surprise, surprise fail as they are happy where they are and then panic on the last day and buy an overpriced midfielder, preferably with ridiculous hair and overly aggressive elbows.

I feel jaded.

I think Moyes will be looking to do business early to avoid a repeat of last year, although if we had anything wrapped up then I would have expected us to announce it already for some positive press.

If we don't hear much rumbling of transfers in the next few weeks then I'd start to have doubts that Moyes is the one being given the money.

Although I'm perhaps less anxious than others in entrusting him with a large budget this summer, if Lallana was a genuine target alarm bells would seriously begin to sound.

Can you just imagine Messi with his suitors sitting around contemplating a move to United so he can link up with Moyes? Just think of the possibilities running through his mind. "I could play right wing permanently. Or perhaps Moyes will let me play in central midfield. The tactical possibilities."

I especially like the idea of having Messi, Mata and Rooney on one team who all occupy the same position.

I'd like us to break the bank for Vidal. 50 million pounds should tempt Juve into selling I would think. (I don't know if he'd want to come and if Juve would sell, but if it's possible, then there'd be a lot more passion and drive in our eleven) And maybe Shaw, and a decent centreback, though I don't know who; Benatia at Roma impressed me the couple of times I watched them play this season.
And maybe that young De Sciglio lad who plays for Milan to give some competition and backup in the right back position, I don't think we need to spend big on right back, yet. And maybe get Powell back.

Would be a total spend of like 110 million or so I guess, and if Moyes decides to drop either Rvp or Rooney to the bench with Mata in the number 10 role, I think we'll be a whole lot better than we've been this season.

That is 110 million spent and without our wings getting sorted which has been nothing short of turd this season. And how do you expect some money back? By moving on Hernandez, Kagawa, Nani, RvP? These are the 4 players who I feel Moyes could move on as they are the decent ones who will fetch money. Then we are back to square 1 after that as well. I really cannot feel too enthused because I think we will probably gain some quality but also lose some serious quality already in the team.

Well, on the wings, first, I'm looking at Kagawa consistently on inside right or inside left, and I'm hoping Nani would have a more injury free season, and I'm hoping Valencia keeps up or improves on some of the half-decent form he's shown in small patches over the last few games.
Also - I feel the wingers have also been a little poor because of the porous central midfield - and if we have Carrick-Vidal-Mata as regular starters in the middle - that's a massive upgrade - I'm hoping that'll help the wingers (or inverted wingers) play with more freedom and find some form. Also I'm hoping we're not looking at the wings doing everything and belting in 80-odd crosses a match - hoping we are looking at building on the play from the last two games where we saw some really good play through the middle.
Money back? Sell Young maybe. And Hernandez, if he absolutely is going to leave. RVP, again, if a decent bid comes in for him.

Realistically - I don't want us to spend more than that, maybe the wingers need to be upgraded in the next year. Cheaper options in CM to free up funds for a winger would be Kroos but not by much, or that Carvalho lad from sporting but I'd rather we don't take a chance because he's not coming cheap anyways and Vidal is proven and a monster.

Our wingers have either been injured or shit over the last two season and our CM has got nought to do with that. I don't think Carrick can make Valencia take on his man or put in a decent cross or make Young not turn to shit the moment a defender stands up to him or turn Nani from a glass person into one of bones and muscles. We need to sort out the wing immediately. I doubt Nani is in Moyes' plan while unfortunately Young and Valencia seem to be. So we need at least one quality winger with real pace and end product if Nani is let go.

We need a left back, a winger then a mobile centre midfielder (I'm concerned with Kroos as that would give us Fellaini Carrick Mata all through the middle that are very one paced). Would prefer to see someone who is more quick to break and speed to get back.

Dump Fellaini, then get Kroos and Vidal. Carrick to sit back and mop up with Kroos playing the Scholes role and Vidal acting as a box-to-box player. Play Mata/Januzaj and Kagawa/Nani two wide positions with Rooney/RvP up top.
Against the smaller teams, we can do away with Carrick and play only Kroos and Vidal in midfield and get both Rooney and RvP in the team.

*crap, my alarm just went off!* :(

There is no way we will dump Fellaini and to be honest Carrick (who I am a big admirer) looks like his legs have seized. I hope we give a right chance to Zaha Adnan J Nick P and the boy Wilson. Would also love to see Shaw Barclay added alongside 3x 23-28 year old internationals. Ie Reus Hamsik Vidal (a big ask) I also hope the squad gets an over haul with departures for Vidic Rio Giggs Nani Hernandez Young Cleverly Anderson (that's a lot of the wage bill)

Osman and Fellaini...some funny unoriginal cnuts in here

I appreciate you might have missed it, but we did actually sign Fellaini.

As to the Messi stories, that might be the funniest thing I've seen all year. But can you imagine the looks on the faces of everyone else if we did pull it off?

Out:
Vidic
Evra
Anderson
Nani
(may be leaving: Rio, Giggs[retired])

IN:
Kroos
Carvalho
Shaw (really want to see this one happen, gotta keep that english core)
CB (Mangala would be great, but will definitely need a strong addition in that area)

This is pretty similar to how i feel, i have always been optimistic going into a summer window that we will do the business, but last summer killed my inner muppet off for good.

Definitely Lalanna is a good player but is he much of an improvement over some of the dross in our squad that like to call themselves wingers, for me not really we should be aiming much higher if we are after a wide player.

Signings such as that could cement us as a 5th-6th side.

Yeah but Moyes would still be managing him.

Just imagine: Fellaini and Cleverley in the middle with Young on the left, Mata in behind Rooney, and Messi on the right.

Or more likely, Rooney behind RVP with Mata and Messi out wide.

We definately need a good winger. We need pace to run at a defence. Premier league defences have got narrower and pushed higher getting used to the over use of the 'AMC'. we need an option to shake that up.

Valencia will never regain his form, feel sorry for the guy theres obv some psychological block. Young im happy to keep as a squad player but nani has to go, like valencia there seems to be a block on his development, I think it gets to a point he needs to move on. SAF said a squad needs to change every 3-4 years and valencia and nani are examples of when thats needed, but we do neef to replace nani with a similar player - on that will do what nani could have done (did for 18 months).

In:
Shaw
Carvalho
Winger (please god reus)
Cb - I cant think who

Out:

Nani
Hernandez (four strikers for one positionbis silly)
Valencia (dont actually think moyes will)
Rio
Vidic
Evra
Anderson

I think we should look at hernandez to arse and get vermalen come the other way.
I wouldnt be suprprised if we see a change in formation next year to accommodate kagawa and moyes. Something like:

-------------------------ddg--------------------------
Raf-------jones------evans/newbie------shaw
-----------------------carvalho---------------------
Januzaj------mata-----kagawa--------new winger
-----------------------rooney/rvp-------------------------

Or, and this is if we fail to get a decent winger and get another cm (I.e kroos, but that will never happen) and thanks to rodgers showing how it can actually work)

--------------------------ddg----------------------------
Raf--------jones----evans/newbie-----shaw
------------------------carvalho-----------------------
--------------kagawa-----------new cm----------
----------------------------mata-----------------------
----------------rooney-----------rvp----------------

I can see us failing with bids for Coleman and Baines, alienating Rafa in the meanwhile.

As to who we'll sign, I doubt we'll get Shaw.

Looking at Moyes' Everton signings since he became manager there, he signed 9/10 squad players per season in all but one of his ten season (he signed 5 in his first).

Of the 84 players he signed, 41 were from the domestic leagues.

I was hoping for some sort of clue or something to reinforce the likelihood that we'd be signing mainly Prem players, but having done the research, it was a waste of time, as I expect our transfer history is fairly similar.

TL;DR - my brilliant research shows that Moyes sometimes signs domestic players.

Bench: Rooney, Welbeck, Valencia, Kagawa, Carrick, Smalling, Lindegaard

I want in:

Juan Bernat - Seems like a really good young leftback with both attacking and defensive attributes who won't cost a bomb
Kroos - Need a central MF that can dictate games. Kroos can definitely do this.
Carvalho - Need a MF that can work defensively, breaking up opposition play.
Reus - Need a creative spark who is dynamic, has pace and can win us games when things aren't going our way.
Hummels - Need a CB starter who Jones, Evans and Smalling can play alongside.

In :

Rakitic
Shaw
Carvalho
Mangala/Benatia/Hummels
Reus
RB/LB cover

Out :

Young
Nani
Valencia
Buttner
Anderson
Fletcher
Fellaini
Hernandez (unfortunately)
Ferdinand or Evra

Get Powell and Wilson to the first team.

Wishful thinking: In:
Reus: (40m)

Carvalho: (27m)
Hummels, Mangala or Benatia (30m)
Garay: (18m)
Shaw: (25m)

Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Giggs (free)
Anderson (3m)
Nani (10m)
Young (5m)
Bebe (1m)
Hernandez (12m) (Not because I want to get rid, but he deserves regular football)

144m? Perfectly under the 150m war chest

If LVG comes we'll be playing 4-3-3 so I expect players that will fit into that system. I don't think we'll sign more than 4 players because of 2 reasons, the first one is I think certain players that would have gone under Moyes might now be staying and the second is that we'll have less cash available, we'll need to pay LVG more money in salary, and we'll have had to pay some exit clauses from Moyes aswell.

I expect us to sign the following players:
Carvalho (£35m)
Strootman (£30m)
Benatia (£30m)
Shaw (£25m)

Promotion from within:
Wilson
Varela

Outgoing players:
Evra (free)
Vidic (free)
Giggs (retirement)
Hernandez (£18m)
Nani (£10m)
Anderson (£2m)
Zaha (loan)
Powell (loan)
Henriquez (loan)
Lingard (loan)
Amos (loan)
Bébé (loan)

Team for next season:
Gk: DDG, Lindegaard
Fullbacks: Rafael, Varela, Büttner, Shaw
Centrebacks: Benatia, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Ferdinand
Midfielders: Carvalho, Strootman, Fellaini, Carrick, Cleverley, Fletcher, Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj, Valencia, Young
Strikers: RVP, Rooney, Welbeck, Wilson

-------------DDG-------------
Rafael---Jones--Benatia---Shaw
-----------Carvalho------------
----Strootman----Rooney------
Mata--------RVP--------Januzaj

----------Lindegaard------------
Varela--Smalling---Evans--Büttner
------------Carrick--------------
-------Fellaini-----Kagawa-------
Valencia----Welbeck----Young

Res: Ferdinand, Fletcher, Cleverley, Wilson

Reckon we'll sign Carvalho, Kroos, a centre back and Shaw. Maybe a winger if we see the backs of Young and Nani.

Carvalho
Carrick - Kroos

Not a bad looking midfield.

De Gea
Rafael - Hummels - Evans - Shaw
Carvalho - Fabregas
Mata
Moura- Rooney - Reus

Lindegaard
Varela - Jones - Smalling - Buttner
Fellaini - Carrick
Kagawa
Januzaj - RVP - Welbeck

Is it to much to ask
