Potential striker signings (who aren't named Højlund)

I'm not convinced we will get anyone else in before the window closes. Considering our options are Rashford (poor striker), Martial (always injured) and Hojlund, any chance we could use Amad as a false 9 when he returns from injury?

Pretty random suggestion, to be honest. Even if we did play a false 9, would we play someone there with barely any PL minutes, just coming back from an injury, over Sancho for example?

People can laugh all they want but I would take welbeck back for a few million, he's not prolific but you only have to watch brighton to see how well he plays his role in the side, he will hold the ball up for us, he run his socks off, can actually offer an aerial threat and his link up play is good and is not going to moan about being benched

A real club has another striker and midfielder in that's fit, signed and ready for the next game.

We are gonna hemorrhage points with our current attacking options

In a second - he’s far better than Rashford in that position. Of course, he’d no doubt get injured the second he joined us.

Maybe 40mil in this market.

Just look at him.....

. bound to be a cult hero at United.
Inbred luke Shaw.

Gaetan Laborde for £15m (was linked with 20m Euro moves all summer) would be a nice rotation signing. Been a good pro over a long period. Excellent presser, good hold up play, penalty box goalscorer.

How good is/was Morelos and why did he leave Rangers/why hasn't anyone picked him up yet? In his supposed prime years now and did double digits in the league all six years he played there as well as scoring a decent amount of goals in Europe.

We just bought a striker for 80 mil euros. And we have Martial (who we will not sell this summer).

The fact that this thread is still alive tells the story (along with "new midfielder" thread) about our transfer window.

We bought an exciting young talent who is injured for who knows how long and how serious the issue is long term
Meanwhile we still have Martian who we don't even trust to start a game when we need a striker and put one of the world's best left wingers up front where is useless. I just don't get it. We need to get rid of Martial obviously and we need someone to provide cover / ease pressure on Højlund. It can't be Rashford that is clear.

Didnt know we were signing players from outer space. :D:D

Then we should have avoid signing Hojlund. We needed proven and fit striker from day one. Hojlund and proven top striker was absolutely ideal scenario of course but between Hojlund and proven striker, we should have gone with proven striker.

Now we can't afford to use Hojlund "lightly" or set lower expectations on him. People here say that 10-15 goals will be good season for him. No, it will not. Because if our first choice striker will end season with 10 PL goals then 4th spot is maximum which we can expect this season.

It’s funny how people were saying all summer, (myself included) that “we need more than one striker, what if he gets injured?” and we’ve literally been introduced to that scenario before he’s even kicked a ball. We’re so screwed if we don’t sign a striker and midfielder before the deadline, and I don’t even think that’s being dramatic or knee jerk. We all saw it coming!

Saw this coming and why I was against signing him. Especially for that price. But we'll see how he adapts I guess.

Agreed, the club is a mess and it won't get better while Glazers are there, still loads of deadwood and still need a midfielder and a Striker as minimum

Doubt we'll be signing a striker unless someone comes in for Martial and considering his wages it has to be someone like PSG or a Saudi club.

Midfielder is still very possible though.

I’m not optimistic, but we’re still screwed if we don’t. As it stands, this seasons prospects rely solely on Hojlund staying fit and scoring a lot of goals. No pressure!

I wouldn’t say no

The club were planning for you know who to be back amongst the first team squad. That’s why we’re short, we didn’t plan for the alternative

I'm not sure that's true. He'd make the squad better, but no way were we planning on player that's not played any football for a year and a half, Rashford and Hojlund as our striker options.

This. Voldemort is getting back in the squad. Agreed so many months without playing, will he be effective? I know he has bags of talent, but so many months without kicking a ball worry me.

In an ideal world, we will go for Toney in January and get rid of Martial.

If we don't get another, we aren't doing much this season. Simply not enough goals in the side. Expecting another 30 goal season from Rashford is naive too.

Yeah the thought of signing neither is very grim

Is it so hard to get a decent striker on loan? Like Chelsea with Felix or Arsenal with their 2nd GK?

Felix was bust for Chelsea he actually reinforces the point that it's hard to get Decent Striker on loan .
I don’t like the player much but surely it’s better to have someone there than playing wingers upfront?

I actually like the player and wouldn't mind him either and he could be one of those players where everything might just click oneday because talent is definitely there but his huge loan fee is an issue .

How much is the loan fee
