Potential striker signings (who aren't named Højlund)

Then you might as well stop watching football altogether. In fact don’t you dare sing about Georgie Best or celebrate the iconic 99 fa cup goal against Arsenal. What’s repulsive is the hypocrisy.

I can watch and enjoy football without describing attempted rape and physical abuse as "womenizing".

Anyway I won't be continuing the discussion as I'm not sure what is allowed re that player. You're going on ignore, I'd suggest taking a look at yourself or at the very least how you word things.

I suggest we calm down a bit in here. The charges have been dropped. The internal investigation is probably finished. The lad's own attitude will -- by now -- have been well and truly aired and questioned and explored. Social media is not a forum for justice, and neither is the Caf. We are not in possesson of even half the information needed to make a judgement; not the background, not the detailed story, not the current situation. The issue being debated here is tricky for the moderators. No doubt an official announcement will come soon, and things will gradually become clearer then. Whatever decision the club makes, I will support. There is surely a possibility of redemption; who knows. I wish Greenwood, his partner and their new arrival all the best; healing and peace; wisdom and sanity.

Do you think there is any truth in him doing an interview most likely with MUTV. Was rumoured but haven't heard it from any of the reliable sources so remain skeptical

Might want to tone down calling someone a rapist who isn’t one.

Finally some sense, enough of this. If Mason is back I’ll be happy for him and the perpetually offended can follow another club or sport.

If he is coming back then I think there will be a carefully crafted interview of some kind, in-house likely makes sense

Well said, we all have our own opinions and its very much for or against him coming back which is little point in sharing as people will make there own judgements.

But the only real facts e have are from social media, that are obviously very disatateful but just very small snippets, we dont know the full story leading up to, during or after all this has happened, so definitive facts from us cant really be stated, that is part of the reason for the investigation.

Have my own opinions from what i have seen, doesnt mean they are correct and others wrong

It won't hurt to get a player in his thirties to support Højlund and the team in the next 2-3 years. Especially given Martial's injuries and Rashford's strenght on the left wing.

A few players above 30 years old and who has contracts expiring in 2024 could be considered as backup forwards:
- Borja Igleasis (30) of Real Betis. Played 43 games last year: 15G + 5A
- Alvaro Morata (30) of Atletico Madrid. Played 45 games last year: 15G + 3A
- Mehdi Taremi (31) of Porto. Played 51 games last year: 31G + 14A
- Callum Wilson (31) of Newcastle. Played 36 games last year: 18G + 5A
- Wissam Ben Yeddar (32) of Monaco. Played 43 games last year: 25g + 7A

Taremi has an impressive goal return but the two Porto fans think he's not up to Utd level. Ben Yedder was touted a few years back but nothing ever came of it. I like Wilson but no way do Newcastle sell. Presume Morata still has red hair from when he thought he was coming here instead of Lukaku back in 2018

I know I'm impatient but wish we had loaned or picked up on a free that number 9 who could start on Monday. They could then have backed up Rasmus when he gets fit too.

After Hojlund seems injury prone another striker would not be bad. Ten Hag wanted to buy Brobbey from Ajax. Good would also Iheanacho (1 year left on his contract, PL experience, cheap). someone should still come.

Yeah Iheanacho would have been cheapish

Those players are all quite valuable to their teams though. Not sure how cheap their fee/wages package would be in the round.

@OverratedOpinion best not to quote such posts. Makes the job of mods to clean up harder! Terrible post (the one you quoted) especially as it's been made clear repeatedly not to discuss him!

What’s terrible is that we’re ready to crucify and cancel young Greenwood but are oddly affectionate of Best and Giggs who at much older ages exhibited vile and morally objectionable behaviour. Are you ready to stop singing about Bestie and Giggs and celebrate their careers? No, because as footballers they were brilliant and I would hope as a society we’re intelligent enough to have a discussion without cancelling and ignoring others points of views…nonsense, who am I kidding!

@Giggsy13 I would just say that not all morally bad things are equal. Anyway best not to discuss further as it's not allowed.

Konate scored again 2 (missed one pen.) against Inter in 45 minutes, Salzburgs final friendly. 19 years 6 goals 2 assists in his last 4 matches.

No I don’t think I think anyone should calm down there’s enough information to get a fairly decent idea of type of person he is. If people want to welcome him back that’s up to them as well of course.

The reality is he’s coming back whether we
like it or not though, personally I don’t think he’ll last long as I see him having a miserable time on and off the pitch.

He doesn’t strike me as someone who will be able to deal with what is about to come his way and it’s a huge assumption on my part but I don’t expect him to stay out of trouble.

Same. A lot of people who can’t wait to see him play for us again are underestimating this. I will write more once it’s confirmed that he will be back.

I would totally agree but genuinely think Erik will be determined to keep him out of trouble for the foreseeable. Whether he succeeds in that is a totally different matter of course.

I see Iheanacho popped up for Leicester with a typical penalty box goal, wonder what it would take to get him on the right side of Manchester

I am sure Erik will keep Bruno and Rashford on GW duty and will do everything himself he can to keep him out of trouble, but they are not going to spend 24 hours every day, month and year with him.

Since when is hojlund “injury prone”????? People need to get a fecking grip.

If united think they can just sweep the audio and his actions under the rug with a bit of PR and some photos of his new baby they are out of their minds. It is going to be in the news, all over media, questions to Erik all the time, people seeking quotes from family, etc.

Add in the fact that any of our female players who leave when he returns will be a pr disaster.

Fans can go on about how he is innocent, or should be given a second chance, but he won’t get them from the rest of the world. This is United.

The 'golden generation' included players who managed to get involved in some decidedly problematic sexual behaviour when they were the same age, including questionable consent around both acts and filming of them considering the amount of alcohol involved, as well as drunkenly abusing American tourists after 9/11, amongst other forms of loutishness, and they managed to 'keep their noses' clean' after that ( more or less). Giggs was known to be pretty wild at the start of his career on the sly, but then settled down and, at least throughout the bulk of his time at United, stayed out of the front pages ( the subsequent headlines were more of an early middle-age scandal). People aren't stuck in amber, particularly after a potentially career-ending scandal like this so early on in their life and then getting engaged and having a child (part of the reason SAF encouraged players to marry early was obviously that anchoring element... and inhibiting influence).

It will capture the attention span of the media until the next story arrives, I hate to break it to you but United are not the focus of the rest of the world, most people couldn't give a flying feck about us

Thats not how this one will go in the UK, ex girlfriends, family, friends, this one won't go away no matter how many pics of him and his loverly baby the united pr team push out

The next royal or celebrity scandal and nobody will be following it, the media, and people in general, have a short attention span, they just move on, sure it'll get brought up every so often but it'll disappear just as quickly

Murmurs of West Ham interest in Martial, what if we decide to let him go (should have, at least save the wages), who could we get as late signing or loan?

Maybe Orban before Spurs get there first, do we know if he's a natural number 9

How is Koita now he's back after his big injury? We were linked with him prior to it, I believe.

Not good enough, so much potential, but after his suspension and his injury he has to fight for his starting spot, not at his highest level at the moment. Tries to force it on the pitch. At the moment he is injured again.

Real shame, he looked like a real player when he first came through.

Konate scored again, 3 goals 2 assists in the Austrian Bundesliga (3rd round), 2 goals in one cup game. Should have scored more, but was unlucky with VAR and offside
