Potential striker signings (who aren't named Højlund)

I’ve hinted at this a few times recently but the whispers that Lewandowski could be our next stopgap striker are starting to become a bit more audible

Could see it happening. Ronaldo & Cavani move on. Bayern sign Haaland.

I discussed it with @Adnan in the transfer thread, but I guess it belongs in here;

I know I am in a small miniority in here, but I think DCL would be a great replacement for Cavani. Really hard worker and a great athlete. A player I am sure Rangnick would have loved!

- 6th for npxg in 19/20 at 0,49 (Salah was at 0,54 and Sterling at 0,51)
- 4th for npxg in 20/21 behind Antonio, Kane and Mane at 0,48

I expect him to get better, and I think at a club where he was surrounded by good players he could have a Jota type of impact. For anything below £50 mill I think he would make sense in the current market. Could be a good opportunity here with him being injured for awhile (not that hot this season) and the club in a bit of a mess.

In a normal season he probably gets 15-20 goals from open play for Everton. Maybe a better coach and team could elevate it to 20-25 goals from open play?

Barely seen a mention for Haller but if Ten Hag were to be our next manager surely he should be a contender. Unlikely to cost a bunch which could be important for our summer business. He knows and has definitely shown himself to be successful in Ten Hags system, champions league top scorer.

Perhaps not the sexiest option but I don’t see alot of them out there.

Probably because of the thread title? :D (plus I don’t think we’re in the running)

I like him, but do you think he would be under £50m? He was mentioned quite a bit a year or so ago when he was in form to mixed reaction and forgotten about now he is injured.

Like a few English players, with the numberof signings we probably need to make, the prices for them make it relly prohibitive for many as outside centre back there are good options for most of the positions need filling this summer. Livaramento, Bellingham, Rice, several wide players that are alreadyat big clubs and wouldnt move,DCL....But if we were to sign all of those, probably talking £350mon 5 players and still need a centre back. I think thats the problem.

Not sure. There has been a few articles about how the sanctions towards oligarcs and russian firms have hit Everton hard. They are building a stadium, and might have to sell DCL or Richarlison. Who would pay more than £50 mill for him? Arsenal? Maybe Newcastle, but would he go there?

It's absurd Haaland is not a real target when you spend $80 million on Maguire or $75 million in Sancho. Cristiano's was "free" but his wages should be super expensive, for a 36 yo guy.

Anyways, IMO Nkunku or Patrick Shick could be reasonable options. I would bring both.
Signing Maguire for 80 million was quite clearly a mistake. Signing Sancho, as much as I love him, meant we didn’t sign a midfielder even though we already had attacking options. We need to fill the squad with great players not one exceptionally great overpriced player that blows alot of our budget. I don’t know why people can’t grasp this in the other threads like Declan Rice either.

Oh and on top of that his agent is Raiola

Completely agree mate, would be a good signing.

I'm not sure quite how much I rate him as a player but if you need that sort of mobile target man for your system (as ETH appears to favour) then I can't think of many more obvious targets who fit that profile.

If he fits for the way a team wants to play then I'd be more concerned about whether he's a bit injury prone than anything else.

An aging great coming into a more demanding league.

Why didn't we try this before?

That "ageing" great is easily better than Haaland currently and has missed lesser games in his entire career than Haaland has missed recently.

Haaland is unironically a much bigger risk fitness wise.

I think around £50m is unlikely for DCL and Richarlison but they are Everton's most sellable assets. Maybe if it was heavily cash upfront. If they get relagated they would definitely go for less than £50m.

Everton have to sort out the lost revenue from their sponsors cancelling contracts with them some how. They had major issues with FFP compliance last year resulting in no money in the summer. Moshiri and Usmanov couldn't put in any more money then, let alone now. In Jan they bought in the same amount as they sold. Frank may be ok with it too if they could get Abraham or Broja for less. I wouldn't be surprised to see their new stadium delayed as well.

Please tell me this is a joke. I like Lewa, much how I liked Cavani and Ronaldo, but I really, really, really want us to stop signing these 30+ year old forwards.

Yeah we need to look younger and long term now after a couple of stop gaps

They probably have to sell them. Then the question is, who will pay them more than £50 mill?

Think Joao Felix is another one that's attainable if the right bid comes along. The talent is definitely there, just needs consistent game time.

He’s brilliant but his progress has slowed playing under Simeone. If he had gone to city he’d be an absolute force playing under Pep. I have a feeling he ends up at city if he they fail to land Haaland.

I agree but who is there young and relatively cheap with the right quality? Really not that many options coming up at all even relatively inexperienced under 50m

I'm sure with Uniteds supposed vast scouting network ,plus with Ralf potentially going upstairs, they can find atleast a couple of interesting young-ish forwards.

You would think so but what has the scoutingnetwork turned up recently? We canonlygo by players signed, overpriced English ones and foreign players we all know (and just personal opinion but mainly the wrong ones) anyway plus teens a fair while away from being ready....and weve spent a lot of money on nearly all of them

If ETH is the new manager then he has used 2 types of ST in his 2 Ajax teams.

He deployed Tadic as a false 9 during the 2018-19 season with Dolberg deployed in the league.

Obviously he has used Haller as a Target Man in this current team.

It will all depend on how he wants to play.

It could be a Nunez who is more of a target man or we could deploy Nkunku to play the Tadic role

More chance of me playing up front for United next season than Haaland. Part of me hopes he ends up at City - in which case we have to move heaven and earth to persuade Harry Kane to join United. failing that, I 'd risk the money on Lewandowski. I know he's not got many years left but we need someone to fire us into fourth spot and he is a natural goal-scorer: something we clearly need. His goals would have won games we've drawn this season.

Failing that, we might as well accept that it's Groundhog Day/Season because a year from now, we'll be in exactly the same position as we are today

Nkunku, isak, Kane or lewa (who’s contracts are coming to the ends) Calvert lewin would be interesting to see what he could do with top players around him.

I see the Lewa to United links everywhere.

Would the fanbase accept this in the current climate?
I reckon this is probably gonna be a signing the fans will be against from the very moment the man signs.

Can already see his future thread being full of criticism and meltdowns

Lewandowski would be so typical of us. Yes he's still a great player, but we all know how it goes. Huge wages, struggling team, the decline begins. Just no. I'd love to see us not be predictable for once and instead be clever and diligent with our recruitment.

Isn't Andrea Belotti available on a free this summer? He is supposed to be a hard working, tenacious terrier of a striker. Could be just what we need.

Nunez looks an exciting prospect but I can see the 65% pass completion being an issue if we want to go for Ten Hag. Can already see the posts on here regarding how we should have signed a Firmino type..

Just pay an obscene salary to Haaland. The transfer fee isn’t prohibitive, and leaves plenty of room to over spend on salary. Make him the highest paid player in the league.

If not, I am warming to Felix.

I mean didn't he lead the line for Italy at the Euros or am I mistaken? He cant be that bad on a free can he?

He did until he was removed after 2 games or so on counts of being useless. If I remember correctly.

I've only seen a limited amount of him, but like the look of what I've seen from Osimhen.

He's a but rough around the edges but has a lot of the qualities that we've been missing for a long time up front.

Would probably cost quite a bit though.

Immobile was their main striker if I recall. Belotti played the dead rubber against Wales some sub appearances. He's an honest player, but I would worry about his end product in the PL.

Considering our fullbacks can’t cross and our wingers play more like system players I don’t see bellotti being useful to us

My choice too.

From this weekend...

Unfortunately, he was apparently in attendance for the Liverpool game at the weekend, which makes you think he may be on his way there.
