Post-match discussion

People before the game going on about how we'll batter them. It amazes me that after so many years people still don't get this team. These players think they are better than they are and the moment they get comfortable you know it's trouble. The way we started the 2nd half, you could see this coming. Spurs were always gonna come all guns blazing and to start the 2nd half the way they did....

Also, the majority won't wanna hear it but none of ETH's signings have been great this season. There's been periods Casemiro and Eriksen have looked great but equally matches where they are so poor. Major question marks over Antony and Malacia as well. Martinez is the only unquestionable success this season.

Tottenham aren't a crap side, either. People have fallen too much for the loss against Newcastle; that was well below their level.

I would say that a point was good, to be honest. I think people are forgetting that Tottenham have a good record against big clubs in recent years.

Dreadful 2nd half, we just can't finish teams off & punish them

Another game where we should be 3 or 4 up and then throw it away with 2-2

Extremely questionable subs made as well

Still in control of top four, but now we have grind out the results to make sure.

Ten Hag has been brilliant for us this season, but his in game management tonight was shocking. He singlehandedly handed the points to Spurs through poor decision making and his inability to make decisions that inspire his team to ride out a storm is worrying. We know there are some weak personalities in that side, but where's the tactical nous?

He's been outwitted by Ryan Mason. If that was Ole Gunnar Solskjear, our worldwide YouTube support would be burning effigies on their TikTocs.

He should make the team watch him jog around Carrington tomorrow, because that was a disaster of his own making.

I'm a big fan, but he's a had a howler.

We

Yeah looked open but also looked dangerous.

This game was literally a Sevilla redux. We weren't dominating from a defensive POV but looked dangerous going forward, and yet he goes and neuters the attack and we end up conceding without any sort of goal threat at the other end.

He needed to make subs to freshen it up, it was one-way traffic from the kick-off to their second goal.

That's why Fred doesn't start. Bricks for feet.

Good first half bar some hairy defending, dogshit second half. I haven't criticised Ten Hag much, or at all really, but a lot of that is on him, those subs were cowardly. Shutting up shop at 2-1 with half an hour to go, and taking off our creative players who can keep the ball under pressure, and bringing on runners like Fred and WW. No way we could take the lead again with the 11 we had out there.

Well in control in the first half and 2-0 up. Took our foot of the gas and let spurs have a go. AWB was leaving acres of space on his wing so i can see why he was subbed. Were we gassed from playing 120 minutes on Sunday? Probably as We just lossed all energy.

Fred looked like a pub team player when he game on, no wonder ETH is reluctant to pick him.

id have taken a point before the game but really we should have pissed it.

Mentality is very poor. The subs had a negative impact. Fred and Malacia were shockingly bad.

Clearly shows we need 5 signings in the summer to have any chance at the title next season.

Attitude was an utter disgrace. Pissing around hoping 45 minutes will tick by.

The same players have been doing this for years. No hope for them.

There were plenty of warning shots in the first half to show Spurs could threaten. That second half performance was terrible though.

As for Bruno hitting the bar... Jeez. That would have knocked them back on their heels.

People were getting carried away with our first half performance, but the reality is that Spurs had opportunities in our penalty box but didn't take them. On another day it could easily have been 2-2 at HT. Second half we were just dire. I think Bruno was the only player who looked to make something happen or find the right ball on a few occasions. Everyone else was on the beach. Again, Spurs carved us open in our own third and could easily have won that game. Bruno's miss was unlucky, but TBH had his effort won us the game 3-2 then I'd say Spurs would've been unfortunate.

Just another shocking display from us.

Decent game, Tottenham wasn't half bad. That Kane is a player isn't he. Biggest disappointment were the subs. Martial and Malacia not offering much at all and Fred was a full-blown liability.

In the end it's just the tired legs and heads that keep United from dominating these types of games from start to finish.

Once again in a game we all saw we needed to control in the second half our manager had no clue

We are 2:1 up and after a ricochet both our full backs are out of position?

All we had to do was pass the ball around and hit on the counter

Also AWB was getting overloaded, Erik should be shouting at Antony to get back and help

No fecking accountability from anyone

Fuming

Feel for ETH, he wants to make changes but the players coming on all let him down.

Every sub bar Weghorst was crap.

Good first half performance. Bad second.
Happy with a draw though and I'll take one against Villa to secure top 4.
Don't think the substitutions helped at all. Sancho was doing a lot of work which Martial didn't.

A familiar story that has played out many times this season already. We had control of the game while Eriksen had energy and then lost all control once he became gassed in the 50th minute. We badly need a new midfielder to do his job in the summer.

From domination to dominated, how can this be? Players became casual and careless with the ball. The game was there for the taking, you don't see City throwing away 2 pts like this. This shows the maturity of the team, Casemiro was bad. Fred came on and play like shit. Antony was non existent. Shaw and Lindeloft decided to become medicore in the 2nd half. Bruno, oh Bruno... how can we miss? Once he miss, I knew Spurs would score. 2nd was supposed to be easy, play compact, keep possession, break on counter. Isn't that suppose to be simple? Glad we got 1 pt. We must beat Brighton.

Those subs cost us. Fred was absolutely horrific when he came on.

no composure when Eriksen went off, pumped the ball long and gifted it back.

Lack of depth really apparent again.

Think we passed around the cigars at half time and were celebrating the 3 points. Shocking second half and the substitutions made it worse. Actually thought we would lose it in the end we were that poor.

Could be a massive 2 points dropped come end of season.

Mentality is very poor. The subs had a negative impact. Fred and Malacia were shockingly bad.

Clearly shows we need 5 signings in the summer to have any chance at the title next season.

I don't think it's poor, it's just that the team is knackered as well as stretched to its limits due to injuries in key positions.

We should still be seeing out games at 2-0 but going forward, we have a few full weeks off which the team desperately needs.

Paid professionals with a Manchester United badge on their chest walked onto a Premier League pitch in the second half and decided they didn't have to try anymore. One of the laziest, mentally weak and unprofessional displays I have ever had the misfortune of witnessing. A bunch of heartless brats.

That's on Ten Hag I'm afraid. Subs completely changed the game and not in a good way.

You bring on Martial and Fred, and you're basically playing with an entirely new system. Why, when it was working so well in the first half?

Felt harsh for Sancho to be taken off and Martial's pathetic performance didn't justify it at all.
I don't think so. From the very start of 2nd half, Spurs were positive and in control, that goal from Pedro Porro was coming. The issue with subs is they didn't do their job - Fred was expected to have positive impact on our midfield with tired Eriksen coming off and Martial was supposed to do something worthy in attack. I didn't understand Weghorst sub much but other 3 seem sensible to me.

Shocking second half after a good first. Lack of strength in depth is telling.

Spurs just sat back and instead of playing it around and trying to draw them out, players kept trying to force it and losing it, gifting them the chances to break.

Harry Kane was the best player on the pitch by a mile that second half, the only question marks around signing him at this stage would the financial outlay for his age.

A point before the game wouldve been okay but yeah in the circumstances, that was shit. Eriksen going off for Fred seemed to completely change things in a negative way.

Oh well, still in a good position for top four.

2 2 is a good result for us overall, it does feel a little bitter after taking a two goal lead. We were much the better team and could have scored 3 or 4 but very early in the 2nd half it felt that the weekend caught up with us. We ran out of legs by the hour mark and we needed to ride our luck against a Spurs side that though aren’t brilliant, did have a new manager bounce and the crowd behind them. We were unable to do that, which is frustrating but I understand.

Rashford was fabulous today, best player on the pitch. Fred and Malacia let the team down, if the manager brings you on to shore up a game or help gain control you need to do your jobs properly and I didn’t think that either did that.

Still, anything other than a Spurs win is a good result for us and a bad one for them. We need a positive result against Villa though to strengthen our grasp on top 4. This won’t be easy and we really need to recover well, but with it being a home game, we should do it.
