Well, he gets into Brazil's starting 11 doesn't he.

In my view, he's a good to very good player. But he's the sort that needs a certain setup around him that allows him to play to his strengths. If he's got that, I think he may very well be a viable regular for a top club. If he hasn't got that, he'll be hit and miss, as he has been for most of his time in United.
People said the same about Pogba, it’s not him it’s the players, the players around him don’t stop him misplacing passes or being a shite shot

Great result, must confess I didn't expect that, not just the score, but we ran the whole 'shooting match'
The only down note for me was Sancho... why does he always (or nearly always) 'front up' his man with the ball, the idea is to get around him without giving him or the follow up man behind an array of options.
Any way a fantastic game from Fred, if only we knew he had this in his locker for most games... but sadly?
Martinez and Varane looking better every match, didn't give Kane or Son a 'smell'.
Antony seems to be getting better and so does Casemiro
Rashford put in a good show, just found the keeper on world class form, he was keeping out everything...that is except the deflection from Fred and being largely unsighted with the second from Bruno.
Looking forward to Chelsea match.

so? Not the same players, not the same issues. In any case, there's no reason why that couldn't be a valid observation on one of them and not on the other.

Most dominant Utd display seen in ages, the score line flattered Spurs who were made to look exceptionally poor.

Interested to see Utd keep up the moment against Chelsea.

That would give us good push for top 3 finish. I believe we could do that this season.

Do you remember when most the cafe lost their minds when Spurs signed Bissouma? Anonymous last night.

Totally agree. Casemiro just shows what a specialist in that role looks like. I’ve actually been really pleasantly surprised at how much he joins the attack as well. He manages to do so without being caught out of position. Just picks his moments really well.
Yeah, was listening to his Brazilian national side mates describe him the other day as the most intelligent footballer they've ever seen, and they all play in Europe at the highest levels.

He plays for a Conte team that knows nothing but counter attack. Not saying that Bissouma was the answer but judge him when he is at his best. Goes for every other player.

Roy, is that you?

haha...wishful but Roy would have put his foot in his arse

What if ETH wanted him as a sub, for any reason? He needed to be available till the final whistle. With the money he’s on? We hear so much about example and what a great pro he is. This act, not for the first time, shows him to be completely unprofessional and a selfish child. He should be fined massively and suspended.

it was petulant and very unprofessional plus this is the second time this season he has done it. I'm sure he wants the minutes to be fit and ready for the world cup which starts one month from now but he has to accept that he can't play 90 minutes anymore at his age in a high pressing style.

simple truth for ETH...to show he's not afraid of who, ronaldo needs to be fined and suspended for the match against Chelsea

Yet he just played well in our first 11 in our best performance for many many years? One might say he was a key player in that performance.
I wouldn’t say he was key, I’d say he had a good game
But I wouldn’t let it erase the amount of poor performances he’s served up ?

I really thought about this yesterday too, but at the end, when you have Casemiro in the team not a single DM should be looked at, not even Rice,

Had to watch full game once again and again really liked it, we gave them almost no chances, dominant display and such a shame for Bruno's offside because 3rd goal would've been the icing on the cake.

Somewhat belated comment, but a really, really good, strong encouraging performance.

We looked like a team, a unit, and what I enjoyed was seeing everyone working hard. All game. The game was simple, effective with many chances created as a result.

Bringing on Eriksen as sub was also a good sign re our (slowly, growing) depth in the squad.

Shaw, Sancho and Rashford need to play like they have absolutely nothing to lose, and avoid 'thinking about their games too much. They should aim to cause bedlam, every single game. They are not good enough to pick and choose their performances. No player is.

Is there a way to find out what percentage the ball was in play?

Much was made of the Newcastle game featuring barely any football. This seemed so much better, game kept flowing with what felt like few stoppages. Be interesting to know how the minutes in play compare.

I'm trying to think this morning, when was the last time we destroyed a side in the midfield as comprehensively as we did last night?

After a decade of worrying about the middle of the park, finally it seems we have a coach who values it and the players to dominate there.

This is so true and makes me feel good about our long term future.

Brilliant from Utd yesterday. The best I have seen them in about 5 years, totally and utterly dominant against a good side. Things are looking up.

Take out the financially doped/state clubs and it would be Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal battling for the prizes, 3 proper clubs.

Interesting stat.

United's 28 attempts on goal was the most by any side in a Premier League match this season, the most Antonio Conte had ever conceded in his top-flight managerial career

I watched Spurs vEverton and I was optimistic we would get a positive result against them , and emphatically we did this was the best we've had in dominance from 1st to 90 min In a long time. Spurs came to try a smash and grab a win they were totally out played. There midfield was out done by Casimero , Fred and a brilliant Bruno. Full backs were on it Dalot immense as was Shaw, .. and if only Rashford had the ability to hit the back of the net instead of the keeper it would and should have been at least 5. This needs to keep going into Sat.

Maybe it's just me but 7.4 out of 10 doesn't say brilliant for me, more just better than above average, or good.

I'd rate the overall performance a 9 out of 10. That, says brilliant, for me.
Unless you're really liberal with throwing out 8s and 9s you will never get an average above 8. Anything above 7 is a top team performance, close to 7.5 is very rare, hence my brilliant comment. My rating average 7.2.

When we lose, folks drop 1s and 2s like no ones business. I think some 9s and 8s were more than warranted for the performance.

Wheres the Fred haters now?
After the weekend that would be me!
In fairness he's up there for my MOTM after that performance. If he could deliver that every game I'd be very happy to eat my hat.

A couple of things I noticed. We were not afraid to play the cross field pass in the air. Previously we would pass it via a CB. Now we do it directly.
When DeGea has the ball there is a player in the FB position and a midfield player in the middle. Our passing was very good.
Deagea was always sweeping higher. We were playing on the front foot.
Now we need to keep up this.

You don’t sound delighted you sound like as usual you’re looking for the negatives. Exhausting.

I have concerns we won't be able to back it up on Sat,if I felt confident we could then wouldn't feel so worried about those dropped points on Sunday

Anything below a 5 for me would be due to direct mistakes leading to goals, red cards, and similar stuff. I've hardly ever given someone a 1-4 on pure play unless they combined horrific play with lack of effort. That would probably do it.

If I never see that ref at OT again, I wont shed a tear. He was diabolical. Great performance especially from those players who have continuously been written off here - Shaw, Fred, Rashford and Bruno. No doubt about it, we are a better team without Ronaldo - Bruno is a better player without him. Toney (?) up front, Rashford and Antony coming in from the wings, we will look positively stellar
How was the ref diabolical? Thought he was pretty good (for an EPL ref).

He deserves praise for allowing play to continue after the offside which directly led to our second goal.

If we get a positive result on Saturday you’ll still be back being negative, not sure I’ve ever read a single happy post of from you

Given that I refuse to pay for a third football provider, I only heard the radio commentary and say MoTD highlights (so much better when they don't have to squeeze in too many games). We looked sharp, confident and really up for it (it's hard to understand why we sometimes look far from any of those). It does have to be said, that Spurs did a fairly good impression of us on an off day (yes, we were good and made it hard for them but there's no denying they weren't at their best).

Some good performances all round and if it wasn't before, it is now crystal clear who was the snail-paced problem at the heart of our defence in the past. Son and Kane barely got a look in thanks to Varane and Martinez, although it helped that some of their players were missing.

Let's hope this is a start of seeing the real Bruno, and Casemiro, Fred and McT did well. Sancho is still not firing for me and Antony seems to have one very good half and then goes a bit quiet.

Goal scoring is still a massive problem. Rashford's inability to take good(ish) chances has already cost us this season and could have again. He simply is not a centre forward and we need to address this to have any chance of top four and/or Europa success. I don't think Martial is one of those either and, besides, if the wind blows he seems to get injured

Not sure if its already been said but we are so far this season in the League the only team to shut Spurs out. And we did it with relative ease.

The thought of eventually unlocking the attack and putting away 3 or 4 of those chances a game - and with that defence - leaves me very, very excited!

We played suspiciously well, one of the best games I can remember. Probably means we will get smashed against Chelsea.
Yeah I’m worried about this. How many times have we played well only to not get out of second gear in the next match? At the Bridge as well. Could be a disaster or we could build on Wednesday night.

Erik won't allow that
