LC W League Cup Round of 16

Swansea City 0:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Very easy win, didn't have to expend too much effort.
Gave Lingard MoM which I'd never thought I would ever do.
Lindelof looked very shaky first half, seems totally devoid of any confidence.
Darmian did quite well.
Didn't see the need to bring on Lukaku and Matic.

I don’t like 3-5-2 but until we get Pogba back, and the likes of Mkhi and Mata remain somewhat useless - it’s the logical approach.

That was a professional standard performance that I would expect of this team. Nice to get over that horrible run of away games. From Liverpool to Portugal to Huddersfield to Wales. That’s some round trip.

What more can you expect from a defensive coach. Step by step destruction of what Man Utd stood for for last 2 decades.
And all such nonsense

Tuanzebe’s a player, should be involved in Prem from now on
Romero would walk into any other side as 1st choice, lucky to have him
Swansea are junk
Onwards and upwards!

I think the whole idea was to give Lukaku some confidence with a chance to score some goals. Matic wasn't particularly required but I think it was to have him treat it as a training session.

We managed a clean sheet despite having Lindelöf playing the full 90 minutes. That's not a bad achievement. :)

I liked the look of Tuanzebe, he's got promise.

Saw no need to bring Lukaku and Matic on (Herrera has not played nearly as much as him this season and so shouldn't need rest now), bit silly from Jose.

Lingard motm I guess.

There's no team in the PL with as good a backup as Romero. You have no worries when he is playing.

Let's not rate our players on the basis of their performance against the second string team of Swansea. They hardly looked interested in having the ball. Even their manager was sitting lazily watching the proceedings like he was watching Theresa May speak at the Parliament.

Tuanzebe should be starting ahead of Lindelof. Lindelof looked shaky today as well. Tuanzebe looks calm and composed. If Jones and Bailly aren't free for the Spurs game, we should start with Tuanzebe and Smalling.

Youngsters really grew into the match after a nervous start. Good.
Lingard cup.
Martial in good mood not bad mood.
Smalling good.
Rashford flicks.
Herrera responsible. good.

Now now now. We have to talk about Lindelof. Still needs bedding in. Very nervous; poor decisions, poor strength, poor defence. Worried.

Jones back for Saturday according to Mou.

Good performance but it is embarrassing having lingard in the team, as so many people correctly pointed out on Saturday. He just can't play versus premiership teams

Surprised to hear Jose was more impressed with McTominay than Tuanzebe although Scott did have a solid game.

Easy game. Sort of game where it's hard to really take anything from.

Tuanzebe was great though. Should be in first team at least until Jones and Baily are back.

And what a fecking header by Jesse. Get in son!

Not sure if I was exhausted or if that game was boring as hell as I slept through most of it.

I reckon Herrera will be doing his Hazard role on Saturday.

Decent performance, doubt we'll have an easier 90 minutes this season. I like the dynamism of the front 3 and I thought Axel stood out, I'd give him the nod over Lindelof on Saturday if we go for a back 3.

Rashford looked like he had a knock and very legy. He will probably start on saturday too so best to keep him fresh. Herrera will need to start on Saturday, he needed to be protected too.

The subs make sense if you really think about it.

I liked the formation. Very good performance from Axel, good from McTominay too, I liked how vertically he played. Two lovely goals from Lingard too and we're into the quarter finals. Happy with all that

Which proves my long held theory that negativity and moaning gets people recognized on forums which is why poor or mediocre results yield much longer threads.
I think it's a different situation.
When people get negative after a poor performance there is always someone there to argue with them. Often picking on the most ridiculous part of their post to prove the whole thing is wrong. Then a discussion starts that takes the threat completely off subject for the next 10 pages.

When everybody is positive then there is nothing to debate.

If we beat Spurs don't expect the post match thread to be top of the page. You will be all alone, Raoul.

I think he works well up front with Rashford. I think they interchange well together. The thing is that you are not going to get the two of them up front together in the league very often if at all.

Why has literally no one mentioned Mctominay this whole thread?

Very good Full debut, strong, composed and powerful. Great defensive header and dribbling the ball out of defence after winning it and breaking up attacks on multiple occasions. Good movement around the box creating a threat and passing option.

@Raoul this is your fault
