Swansea City 2:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Didn't deserve to lose that I thought, but hey, we didn't deserve to win some of our other games. No idea why we didn't go for a normal 4-4-2 like in the second half of the last 2 games where we actually played well for a change.

Van Persie is finished though. Him, Falcao both need to feck off for good this summer. Every game the same with those two.

A draw would have been okay at best but this really was a game we needed a result in for our confidence and to give us more of a gap but that went to shit.

We lost because we have individual players who offer nothing to the team. As a team we played well, but one-to-three players were terrible and it is affecting us badly.

Swansea were actually there for the taking. They were not good and we couldn't even beat that.

That's top 4 gone for me. And LvG.

One nice goal otherwise we lacked any form of creativity, happy to pass the ball sideways instead of hurt the opposition. Selection too weak defensively.

Lots of possession and corners but I don't recall their keeper making a save. I have no idea why LvG took Shaw off when Young could have came on for RvP instead, utterly bizarre choice. By the end we were just hitting balls up and hoping something might drop, there was no creative moves at all.

I just don't know what to think anymore, something is off with this team even with the main players in their correct positions.

Didn't deserve to lose the game, but then again we should have lost more than the 1 in 19 games.

How RvP manages to finish 90 minutes is baffling. LvG needs to do stop having favourites in the squad and play the players in form.

The passing back and forth before eventually losing the ball, would be okay if we created fecking chances that converts into goals. Our players are not suited to play this style at all, it's fecking clear as day.

Dreadful three points to drop. Can't be overstated just how terrible Swansea are at the moment.

Rooney up front and Herrera in midfield but we were still terribly unbalanced and stupidly exposed on the break. Swansea could have scored more if they were any good.

Let's be honest and fair here, we don't deserve top 4 from the way we've been playing. Even when we win, we've looked boring and lucky.

It's going to be a task to get back into top 4. Teams will obviously slip up, but can we really rely on us slipping up less than our rivals? Not by today's/recent performances.

We're just awful at creating chances.

Hardly surprising when the line up was announced. Fellaini at the top of a diamond is ridiculous when we have Mata/Adnan. Rooney and RVP have never and will never create a good partnership. Awful football/substitutions and can't say it hasn't been coming, should have lost for Burnley as well.

Nowt to worry lads, the players have started to get the "Filosophy". Did you notice the number of times they were able to accurately find Fellaini? It was fantastic.

Another 7 months and we might start winning games away from home. Patience, lads, patience.

We certainly showed a lot more intent with getting forward, especially in the second half, which was nice to see. For a good spell I thought we were gonna take the lead. Unfortunately, our defense always looks like conceding and they did. To be fair, we could've been down 2-0 in the first 15 minutes. This team is still full of so much dead weight. Some of our big name buys are underwhelming, especially ADM. Was very pleased with Herrera and Rooney. Young was a revelation when he came on. I don't know where we go from here but I don't fancy us as a top 4 side. How many years can we go without CL until we start to lose the ability to attract the biggest names. We still have a massive rebuilding job to do.

We played pretty well till their 2nd goal.

Our foward players just can't do shit though.

Diamond, Herrera in midfield, Rooney up top, that's what everybody wanted but now it will be something else.

Rooney up top and Herrera in midfield is exactly the right call and it should continue. This result doesn't alter that.

Stupidly lucky goal for them, de Gea had that all day long before it hit Gomis who will probably get the goal.

Having said that, we should've scored long before that even happened. Most of the second half til that point we had them penned in and it reminded me of old United, except it was missing the vital part. Fabianski had such an easy day, partly to our crap delivery but also thought Williams was excellent for them. Ki is a very good player too.

Our away form could really cost us this season. First time I've actually been worried about top 4. RVP offered us nothing whatsoever and shouldn't play again in the run in. Rooney up top on his own with Mata, di Maria,Herrera behind him. Fellaini and Blind anchoring.

The defense has been found out finally. They're absolutely awful. That will cost us top four.

Another game of mediocre slow football. Just chucked crosses in. At least we created chances I suppose, but the shots on target was pathetic.

Swansea were bang average.

The first time I doubt if LvG is the right manager for us.

Luck wasn’t on our side this time. It had to happen one day.
But the improvement was quite clear, I enjoyed this game until they scored the second.

Van Persie is a big problem, so is Di Maria when he doesn’t look arsed.

I hate Fellaini playing as a striker and playing with no wingers. We played well in the second half until the goal and then just stopped after that. So frustrating.

3 wins in 12 away games and we plan on doing what exactly if we do get to Europe, get spanked? That's not good enough by Van Gaal, you can try defend it all you want but all that 3 in 12 says to any manager at a ''top club'' is you're gonna be sacked.

Would Chelsea, Bayern, City, Barca, Madrid put up with that? you know the answer.

I've been pro VG since the start but we're turning no corners playing football like that.

I was at work during the first half so only saw the second. Very unlucky to lose based on what I saw. That spell up to Swansea's very fortunate goal was some impressive football to be honest. And not just possession for possession's sake, but consistent sustained pressure in Swansea's final third.

Then they pinched a goal and everything immediately went to shit.

I can't see where the improvement is going to come from. The whole team looks like they're playing out of position. Is this the philosophy? It's pretty shite if it is. We look worse than we did when Moyes was in.

We can knock the ball around well but we're so awful at creating chances. Also our shooting all around is just appalling. How many saves did Fabianski actually have to make?
How many Swansea bodies were thrown into line of Fire?

Playing 2 up front doesn't work anymore in football. It leaves us short in midfield, congested up top and weakens us defensively. Other than that we looked pretty decent up until Shelvey scored. Also we need to start playing players who want to be here. Adnan is better than RVP/Falcao and deserves to play on the wing instead of either of those fools up front.

Herrera man of the match by a country mile for us.

Ouch. That's a really, really bad result, in terms of possible ramifications come the end of the season.

Some of the best football we've played this season, without being breathtaking by any stretch. Dominated an away fixture for huge chunks of the game, albeit probably the easiest away fixture left for us. Swansea are real shite of a side.

Di Maria wasteful, RVP non existent and mental collapse after going down are worrying.

Really disappointing. I actually thought we played really well after the first 20 minutes of the game. We were dominating and getting in good positions. Their 2nd goal killed us.
We have played so much worse than that and won this season.
