When you're playing against a well drilled defense like that you need your attackers to show that they're better than the opposition in their duels. Unfortunately for us, our attackers showed what we already know-that they're not good enough. Still we should've drawn that at least.

Garnacho and Dorgu were horrible on that left side. Dorgu got some decent crosses in at the end but was afraid of doing anything positive before. Even Dalot was better at taking his man on. Garnacho was just bad throughout. Bad touches, bad shots, bad decisions. He should've been hooked but stayed on as our only player with pace. We need two experienced attackers next season or pray that Amad stays fit.

Think people are being a bit harsh, we were the better team.
If this was a one off it could be forgiven but it's not some coincidence that we can't score.

Absolutely no attacking quality. Poor crosses, poor touches, poor shooting, poor decisions, poor passes, players not on the same wavelength, all which results in 0 goals. That's not a one off unfortunately.

I could go over our issues but that defensive performance from Forest was epic.

Those two CBs combined cost a quarter of one Harry Maguire. Williams is a whinging prick but what a shift he puts in and that lad Yates is an absolute warrior of a captain.

Playing this formation you can't have ineffective players in wing back, inside forward positions and a striker.

Until we resolve these issues we are not going anywhere good

Garnacho is one of the worst academy players we've had that's made it to 100 appearances. The likes of Luke Chadwick and Chris Eagles would've been first team regulars if they'd been born later.

And we didn't outplay Forest, like some are saying. They wanted us to have the ball so they could sit back and watch us choke at not having the ability to play in tight spaces and against a low block. This is how they usually play, which is the perfect way to play against us because our players lack the decision making, off the ball movement and ability to break teams down.

Amad, a proper centre forward and replacement for Garnacho and we win that easily tonight.

Are you not entertained?!

No.

Baffled more like.
Baffled as in, I keep thinking how many times can Garnacho keep skying the ball countless times all season before he's told by the team to STOP SHOOTING ON SIGHT and use your fecking eyes.

What a game. Exciting watch towards the end but too little too late. I think, United was alright today, better than in many other games but all that without really threatening. Our attacking play is just shit, there is no plan, just hit it long and speculative crosses into space. Think, the whole midfield was underwhelming, but not sure another setup would have worked better. Could have started Eriksen but I guess Forrest would have been prepared for that plan and would have battled more through the center. Garnacho at least trying until the very end, shame that he seems to be so one dimensional. Yoro was alright, Dalot with a better game without many highlights but at least without feckups.

Imagine, playing against against fecking 3rd placed Nottingham Forrest when United is in 13th and then United brings on Harry freaking Maguire to play as striker with 10 mins to go. Feels like a really weird Fifa save... Would certainly fit the match given that the goal against us looked as if the Manchester United players controller ran out of battery suddenly.

Not sure how to judge that. We honestly played... pretty well? But we were just very limp up front. We progressed the ball with quality and used the wingbacks really well. Yet of our 21 shots, not one was a real threat to their keeper.

I'll just take this as a glass half full situation. That team didn't look like we were 5 or 6 players away from being good. Give us one or two quality players up front and that game would have played out very differently.

Deserved at least a point from that, were the better team throughout, but need so much more up front.

I thought we were by a country mile the better team, poor goal to give away but despite the result I’m encouraged, I think if we play like that against City we’ll win.

They’re snidey cnuts, some of their play acting was mourinhoesq team vibe but the media narrative will say different.

Played ok. Says a lot about the league when this Forest are third. If we could finish or find a man in the box with a cross we would be dangerous.

Main thing I took from tonight was what an absolute bunch of snide, cheating, time wasting twats Forest are. fecking embarassing the state of them. Special mention to their keeper time-wasting from mid way through the first half, Williams and Yates.
Like wolves under Nuno

Didn’t Forest have more than 3 sub windows? Might be wrong but was that first half a double sub? I thought the ball went back in play before he made a second sub

We didn't deserve to lose on balance but we didn't look like scoring a goal if we'd have played all week. Can't wait to see some new forwards.

The time wasting from the 1st half made me think we're playing a cup final or something. Genuinely disgusting time wasting and playacting.

Such a shame we can't really create. At least I can honestly say I enjoyed the game, I can actually see (especially towards the end) what kind of team Amorim wants.

You can clearly see Dorgu is technically limited but towards the end he was putting in dangerous crosses, if we can get more of that we'll start scoring.

Garnacho had a poor game but he was very good in his last game, almost like he's a young player who is not consistent, shock horror.

Also a shame we have that lump in goal, any low hard shot beats him as his positioning and agility is sub standard.

But going forward we need to stop losing these types of games, I know it's not the biggest deal but we should not be accepting losses like this.

We have a relatively good, yet unbalanced squad, a small bit of tweaking and we will be dangerous next year I feel. I also expect different positions to be filled, no striker is scoring consistently in this team, we need to get players who can consistently create in order for us to start scoring, we can't continue to rely on Bruno moments.

We looked lively and further improved the first half-hour, despite conceding. Then Forest made a couple of changes, gained control and frankly looked like the stronger team until about halfway through the second, after which we regained the momentum. But the finishing just wasn't there, and Forest did very well defending their box.

Another excellent performance by Bruno, Dalot and Casemiro also quality today. Unlike Garnacho and Dorgu, who both deserve full marks for effort but not much for quality. Mazraoui didn't have a good one either.

Could Garnacho please, please stop shooting from outside the box? It's such a waste.

Gillett decided the match. Couldn't have enabled Forests game plan after leading any more if he was a forest season ticket holder

Ok so safe to say that if we had Oshimhen or Gyokeres we would have either drawn or narrowly won this game?

Not having a sharp number 9 is a massive anchor on this team.

Eagerly awaiting the next international break again

Thought the United players were far too lenient with Ryan Yates. Should’ve actually given him something to moan about.

We had one slabbed effort cleared by a defender. Other than that, did their keeper make a save that could not have been simply controlled with his chest? (I know he caught the ball a couple times without needing to move his feet.)

I only saw the second half. We must have done all our playing well in the first half.

Basic stats in a 1-0 defeat.

1st half

Shots on goal - Forest 3 Man United 10
Shots on target - Forest 2 Man United 3
Passes - Forest 166 Man United 365

2nd half

Shots on goal - Forest 5 Man United 14
Shots on target - Forest 0 Man United 3
Passes - Forest 139 Man United 279

Amorim kinda found a formula/setup that worked before the IB and then completely changed it, it felt like, this match. Don't understand why... Garnacho much better on the right, Bruno better deeper and Zirkzee and Højlund should play together.

But EL is anyways more important this end of the season.

Our attack's too weak, nothing more to add. It won't get better until end of the season.

such a frustrating game to watch. Poor goal to concede from a corner. When we had the chance to move the ball quickly we went sideways or backwards. First half you could see Bruno and Cas urging Dalot to push forward. The look was.....me..............run down there ???? Dorgu probably his worst game for us since signing. Garnacho had many chances to play somebody in who was wider than him but just shot. Mazroui also had a frustrating game. Prime Zirkzee, nothing else to say

Nice battle between Bruno and Yates although, the latter you could come to take pretty long term dislike to given he went down like a sack of shite every time he got challenged.

Can people stop with the we didn't deserve to lose? If we never look like scoring, we deserve nothing.

Elanga would likely have made a good wingback under Amorim, he has all the physical tools to excel there.

Garnacho is one of the worst academy players we've had that's made it to 100 appearances. The likes of Luke Chadwick and Chris Eagles would've been first team regulars if they'd been born later.
Garnacho is so selfish. He plays for himself not the team.

We don’t have the quality up front to score goals. Sad.

The attack is very grim

Even when we've space out wide, the ball is mishit to the winger - it's a laugh

Played ok. Attacking players let us down again.

Just never look like scoring. Look at how many Premier League goals our strikers have scored. It's disgraceful really.

Shite as usual. I'll keep saying it. Our entire attack needs replacing

Our "attackers" are absolute garbage. Should have played Maguire as centre forward all match.

When Maguire ends up being your best goal threat you know you have shite options.

Think most of the fans are aligned on what the root cause of our problems is by now - Amorim and co must be as well. We don't have goal scorers, so we can we be set up as well as we'd like, but we still won't win any games. SAF and Pep managing this team together would not be able to get Garnacho or Hojlund to pass or shoot better, or improve Zirkzee's pace, or offset our wing backs' offensive shortcomings. If Bruno doesn't score, it's quite likely no one else has the guile or quality to do it. There's a reason we're so low in the table - simply looks at goals scored.

Unless there's better recruitment coming through window after window in the years to come, this is our level. We had 68%+ possession, 23 shots (6 on target) to their 8 (2), and played quite well. None of that matters because we can't score goals. All we can hope for in the Europa League games is that Bruno keeping finding the back of the net - it's quite unlikely anyone else will.

The better team away to the clear and away third best side in the division.

We are going places with the right attackers in the summer.
