Result: This was a great result for us. Fingers crossed Arsene can do us a favour and then suddenly top 4 is somehow back in our hands. This season we've dropped so many points in matches like this, so to get 3 points here is a good improvement.
Performance: I actually don't think we were too bad. There's a lot of complaining on here which is understandable because it wasn't stellar but out of ten id rate the performance a 6/7. To win without Martial, Rashford and Blind against a team fighting for their lives and pretty much give them nothing all game is fine by me.
Players I thought did well: I thought our right hand side was brilliant all game. I've called Mata plenty of times this season but I think on the right hand side with Valencia he does really well. I'd argue Mata's best position is in that wide area providing we have an attacking right back to give him lots of space. I've gone for Mata as my man of the match but it could've easily been Valencia as he was really good. Besides those two I thought Schneiderlin did well when he came on, Carrick did well and Rooney improved as the game went on. Smalling was solid but there wasn't a lot for him to do and some of his passing was a bit poor.
Players I thought struggled: It's such a shame for Memphis. Every time he comes on he's just so poor. He can't beat his man, he can't cross, he can't even take free kicks at the minute. He looks like a player who desperately needs that summer break and a fresh start next season, he needs to step up though. I thought Jesse was poor again as well, he's never really going to be one of the better players though. I'd drop him for West Ham for sure though.
Herrera struggled but it's difficult for him to have to play the odd game and perform, hopefully he's another who can improve next season and kick on. I still have a lot of time for Herrera as I'm sure many do.
Opposition: They looked like a Championship side really, It's a shame because I don't mind Norwich but they haven't done well enough in the transfer windows to warrant staying up. Naismith was a good buy in January and it's a shame he isn't getting into the side. Redmond hasn't kicked on like he was expected to either, all in all disappointing from them and they're surely going down.
Mata staying behind at the end: It's always nice to see your players stay behind to celebrate with the fans who've travelled. A very classy touch, it's hard not to like Mata regardless of how he performs on the pitch. Hopefully he's another player who can get into some form at the right part of the season.
