PL W FA Premier League

Norwich City 0:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Its the attitude of the average football fan that is the problem. The vast majority bleat on about building for the future, blooding the kids, developing a style, dominating football matches and winning trophies year after year and then even after a victory sit crying into their keyboards and demanding change. How are managers supposed to build anything when fans definition of a good or bad manager is usually based on his last result?? Its a credit to our club that we are giving the initial 3 year plan every chance to succeed, because otherwise you become Liverpool - appoint a manager, win a cup, buy some players, turns to shit, sack the manager, sell the players, new manager, repeat.
I think lvg is a Jedi And has been using his mind tricks on the feeble minded (our board have succumbed without a fight - no surprise there).
He's spent 250 fecking million quid and we are scrabbling about for 4th. We play THE most boring football out of any team in the league.
Philosophy, foundations...... BOLLOCKS.

Everything that is wrong with redcafe in one post.

Absolutely stupid attitude to have.
What fecking attitude buddy. I didn't give a crap about the result after a shocking performance like that. I wanted Norwich to get something to keep pressure on the bottom as the top of the league is done and I wanted a decent Sunday next week. Champions league will be the same as this season with this style of football but a harder group so what's the difference between that league and the Europa.
Get off your fecking high horse so you can waddle around in this shite like the rest of us.

If football was played like this the first couple of decades then only people in Sheffield would be playing the sport today.

It has gotten so bad that I'm actually thinking about preferring to lose the cup final and the 4th place race if that is what it takes for him to leave this summer. He should be imprisoned for trying to ruin the beautiful game. I can't take one more game of this, let alone a whole season.

Redcafe posts. moan moan moan

Seems some will be upset that West Ham are loosing - Do they really call themselves Manchester United supporters?
Yes they do. They care so much that they get more angry at the state of affairs with this club and are playing the long game, sacrifice for gain. People who only care about the points after we played like that need to look at themselves. This is the norm under Van Gaal and 95% are livid. If you are happy to scrap a 0-1 against Norwich City then I would question your support.

Be careful, my support for this great club has been called in to question after a comment like that. Some can't see the forest for the trees. No heart, no urgency, no precision, no guile, no skill, no leadership, no pace, no movement, no decisiveness on the bench and no joy. But don't worry, we beat Norwich 0-1.

Careful lads, no one seems to be allowed a negative opinion after wasting two hours watch dog shite like that.
That wasn't a negative opinion. That was a fan wanting his team to fail. Big difference.

Didn't you say you fell asleep at least four times, though? :p

And yet I still struggled through the match. It's dross but I will still watch and support them, even if LVG is still here. Though I imagine will sleep through many more matches.

On his last result??? For feck's sake man, where have you been the last two years??? You really think another year is going to be different? I don't think anybody on here would've complained if we hadn't won anything during the last three years if at least the football was half decent and we could see some progress...we all expected some transition. But considering the time and expense that van Gaal has had, more so than Moyes, he's done nothing to move us forward...nothing!

I didn't think there were many of you left but feck me!!! You deserve some medal or something for your blind optimism!

You would be surprised actually there are still a number of people who think VG has done a decent job or that the team, should we stumble back into the top 4 or win the FA cup, this entirely forgettable year will be deemed good progress. I guess it depends on how you look at it. If it is progress vis-a-vis the Moyes year, then yes. But is it progress in the overall context of where United claims it should be in the top echelon of club football (and Woodward himself says we are the biggest club in the world), then I'm pretty sure most will argue we have regressed in the past couple of years.

The VG supporters or the high horse moralisers will say we are "superior" and not like the other clubs, in that we are not a sacking club or that we always give our managers time to succeed. That is an admirable attitude principle to uphold but should not be an unyielding dogma. The fact remains that no other big club (especially the elites like RM, Barca or Bayern) would have put up with VG's philosophy this year, especially during the Dec/Jan implosion. We are not entertaining nor do teams fear us anymore when they play us. We are of course a sacking club just like everyone else - we sacked Moyes didn't we after one year when we gave him a 6 year contract.

Yes there are fundamental issues we need to address but it is clear that VG cannot take us forward. The stagnant and conservative possession philosophy is his blueprint for success and he will not change. Why would another year lead to some drastic change in his philosophy or that there will be a dramatic upturn in the performance of the team? What I have noticed is that the VG zealots always argue in the abstract with points like we are building a foundation or we are giving youngsters a chance so you will thank VG in due course. Maybe there is some merit in that but the role of the first team manager at United is to get results and win titles NOW. If his remit is to build for the future then he should be a technical director and nothing more. Any year where we have to scrap to get into 4th place and say this is all we should expect should rightly be considered a failure of a year.
